  • WIN a $1900 Bernina Sewing Machine

    HeatherBailey_Bernina350_470

I had the privilege to design a sewing machine for Bernina's Faceplate Face-off, along with 9 other designers. From March 17th through April 14th, votes will be collected on Bernina's facebook page and the TWO machines with the most votes will be sent to production and available for purchase.

One lucky voter will WIN a BERNINA SEWING MACHINE valued at $1899. Every time you vote, you are entered into the drawing again. So, set a reminder on your calendar to chime every day for the next few weeks.

HeatherBailey_Bernina_315HBConsidering the tragedy we are grappling with at this time, it is going to be a challenge for me to spread the word about this contest on my own. I ask you to please help me share this design. I will sort out another fabulous giveaway for the voters should my design win, so there's a double incentive, a shopping spree perhaps. I wanted to have this all worked out before the Face-Off went live, but here we are. If you have an idea for me, please share it.

It is my understanding that you will want to access Bernina's facebook page from an actual computer, and not from a phone or ipad. To see the designs and vote, click the "Like" button the face-off page, then a "Click Here to Register" button will appear. Enter your info (so they can contact you if you win!), then you will see the various designs.

Please note that Bernina's mock-up of my design on their facebook isn't quite accurate yet. My design is red and white/cream, not red and silver. And I believe we would be indicating the model number "B350" with an emboss in the lower lefthand corner of the vertical plate, not with large black text across the artwork. My images here are closer to accurate. Feel free to post these images (links below) anywhere and everywhere, along with the contest info. I would sure appreciate it. And hopefully your sewing room will appreciate it too—when you WIN!

    • Sewing Machine Image 115k (612px wide x 72dpi)
    • Mod Daisy Artwork 192k (612px wide x 72dpi)
    • Heather Bailey Logo 10k (612 px wide x 72dpi)

Remember to set your daily calendar reminders through 4-14-14.

PS: I think this contest is open to U.S. residents only, but I don't think that prohibits non-US residents from voting. I will ask. And I'll put together a giveaway that includes everyone—from everywhere—should my design win.

  • HELLO Giveaways!

     BannerDay01

I was chatting at my baby earlier this week, conspiring with him to
start a Birthday Month tradition for August—as we are the only two
August birthdays in my immediate family. With enough fuss, we'll surely
make the Mays and Januaries jealous. Midst our little tete-a-tete it
dawned on me that I neglected to host my annual birthday giveaway last
    year. Boo.

    TryingtoSew_HeatherBailey470
I will now make up for that. Right. About. Now. In the spirit of Birthday Month, how about a GIVEAWAY EVERY DAY for the month of August!? I'm talking about fabric, patterns, jewelry, equipment, supplies, etc.

    Sewing_HeatherBaileyWI
am SO very grateful to each of you for your love and kindness—and for
your support of my business and consequently my little family. I am
inspired by you daily and I look forward to your comments and feedback.
Thank you so much for your encouragement.

I know this madness will put me in a swirl, but I don't care. I want
to show you my appreciation. Celebrate with me. And let me celebrate
you. I'll post one new giveaway on my blog each day in August. To enter a giveaway, simple leave a comment on that blog post by 11:59pm PST on the day of the post.
Be sure to enter your email address so we can contact you if you win.
We'll draw a winner at random, send out an email, then announce the
result with an update at the bottom of that post.

If you are on Instagram as well, enter an additional daily giveaway for a $15 gift certificate. (See footnote in green below.) That's actually two giveaways each day, isn't it? This thing keeps growing!

    HELLOgiveaway_GiftCertifictae470

To kick things off with a splash, today's giveaway is for a $50 GIFT CERTIFICATE to our online store, HeatherBaileyStore.com
where you can stock up on fabric, felt, sewing kits, patterns, paper
crafts, and more. I have a new fabric collection I will be announcing
later this month. And I'll be releasing all-new embroidery patterns as
well—in between blogging about giveaways, right? This prize should come in handy.

    Remember, comment below
to enter and make sure to submit your email address so we're not stuck
with no way to reach you!

Good luck. And again, thanks for your enthusiasm and support. I love you guys.

    xo—Heather

  • Meet Ashley

Meet my new intern, Ashley. If you follow my daily feed
on Instagram, you'll remember my quick post about her a couple of weeks
back. She has been working with me for a few weeks now and I just
wanted to take a moment to introduce her.

Ashley is a fashion design student at the local college, with a focus on
textile design. I wasn't sure we had room for an intern on our team,
but Ashley was enthusiastic, self-confident and pleasantly tenacious—all
    great qualities.

In short, she impressed me into a yes.

They say, fortune favors the bold. This is absolutely true. Add talent
and style to the mix, and you have great odds for success.

    AshleyT

So, I have a fun story about Ashley. The day we first met up, after I
returned to my desk from our lunch together, I came across a press release for a design competition from Aquafina
in my inbox. Often enough, such emails get dismissed or filed away.
However, this time, without reading over the details too closely, I
forwarded the email to Ashley and then forgot all about it.

A couple of weeks later, Ashley came into work and said, "Remember
that contest you sent me? Well, I'm a finalist!" (Of course, I only
vaguely remembered forwarding some-kinda-something to her, so I can't
claim a lick of credit for this.) It turned out the contest was for a
fashion sketch and the four finalists would be treated to a fully-paid trip to New York City and tickets to the Project Runway
finale. Ashley's submission not only won her a top spot amongst the
entries, but her tenacity in securing Facebook votes paid off big-time.
She and her husband spread the word every which way and asked for
help—they even passed out flyers at the mall. Impressive, huh? Way to
    make things happen.

So, less than a month after our first meet-up, that is, less than a
month after I forwarded an unassuming little email her way, Ashley and
her husband flew to New York just last week and had a seriously good
time of it. The trip included several days to do their own thing in the
city. Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, they had to fly back west
before the Project Runway finale show was taped—or risk being stuck in
town for several days longer. But, to make up for it, Aquafina is going
to fly her out for the next finale show. We'll have to pick her brain
    then, right? 🙂

Pretty cool, huh? And all because she went for it—and is talented
too—that always helps—the same reasons why she'll be working here with
me while she finishes up her degree.

So, say hello to Ashley. And if you cross paths with her while
following up on an order or calling in for whatever reason, give her a
    big, warm welcome.

  • Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

Today is office-chair day. We've hopped from one store to the next,
gathering up enough chairs to outfit my new studio.  It's amazing how
much time it takes to finish each little step.  Stacking chairs and
folding tables are next.  I would have waited a month or two — till we
were closer to our first class or craft-night — but Isaac's good
friend is hosting a workshop for photographers at my office next
weekend, so I've got to hunt down those things a bit sooner. That's
    what's goin' on.

Oh, and my dishwasher is hogging up the kitchen floor and its
dish-racks are spread around the counters.  The dishwasher is having
some draining issues, so it's been wrenched from it's nesting place for
a deep cleanse. The kitchen is no-man's-land till we get it fixed.

    It's such a Saturday.

    -o-o-o-o-o-

With no clever segue whatsoever, it's time to announce some giveaway-winners!  A $50 gift certificate to TheVintagePearl.com goes to each of the following: (Lucky ladies, please email emily@heatherbailey.com with your contact info.)

gave me one for Mother's Day last year. I have been wanting to order
one for a friend whose 2-year-old daughter recently passed away. Thanks
