It’s official. Trash Ties is moving forward. Afterall, we now have shirts.* What’s more official than that?
Tuesday was a big day. Big day! I shipped out my fabric designs
(see that mysterious tube down there) and we finished up the design of
our Trash Ties boxes (which required a big two-day photoshoot last week
— a different one — things were just too hectic to blog). It was an all-nighter
for me on Monday to
get both
projects out the door on time. I really need to cut that out! It’s
been absolutely crazy around here. I did go to bed at 8pm last night
though — oh so nice.
Today was several hours of forgiveness cleaning, followed by
booth design & some shopping with a friend. It was nice to get out of the studio for a
bit. It’s been a long, hard push these last few weeks. I’ll take
cleaning and more work (but different work) as my break for now. I’m
tough. And I did pick up some more straws — you know how I feel about straws : )
We should have the beginnings of a Trash Ties website up soon? and I promise to reveal all. It’ll be good for me to record
some of my experiences there. It’s been an interesting and colorful
adventure — and likely to get even more so.
I think I just might sneak out to a movie one of these nights though — shhh.
*to wear at the launch

We can probably help on the movie thing. I really like your new designs and I like your new packaging for Trash Ties. Nice tees too. How’s that?
I’ll always be your cheerleader.
Dad
Dad, what are you doing up? It’s so late. And, I thought you were the good sleeper in the family.
I am curious to see the results… I am sure that it will be as beautiful as the rest of your creations!
You sound so excited (despite the tiredness) so good luck with everything. We are all looking forward to seeing what you’ve been up to!

Hi,
I am new to ur blog and love ur tuturials especially the yo yo’s would you beleive that in my early twenties I made about a thousand of them to help an elderly lady finish a quilt for her grand daughter before she passed away…and for some strange reason I could not remember the technique when I needed it earlier this year…. now I am back on track…. keep up the great work…
luv Abby
I’m really excited for these Heather!
Sound exciting and fun!
this is so exciting! you truly are an inspiration to all of us. it must be fun designing shirts and booths for your trash ties! i wish you and your business all the luck!
anxious to see the new designs! At least being in your studio all day you are avoiding the awful temperatures- it is just so not worth it these days to venture out!
I’ve been a long time lurker but your straws comment (“good for driving”) made me think of how ingenious they are….that and the fact I misread ‘good for driving’ as good for diving and thought instead of snorkels, the straws giant brother.
Great posts. Always beautiful pictures.
The suspense is too much!! I’m so curious about these ties – can’t wait to finally see what they’re all about!
oh boy, can’t wait! LindaSonia
do trash ties work in short hair? probably not huh? 🙂 Oh well. And straw love??? Yes please. The latest additions to my straw stash are some lovely polka dotted ones from target and some giant striped bubble tea ones from my local asian grocery. The giant ones also work great for too thick shakes and smoothies. Thanks for the comfortable unpretentious way you write.
Fun shirts! Can’t wait to see the new fabric designs and I’m so intrigued about these ‘trash ties’. 🙂
…Oh, L.A. where have you gone?/Send someone to get me, I’m in Sasketchewan/Movin’ right along.
Can’t wait to see the Trash Ties ™!
Fellow straw lover, Lisa K.
Can’t wait to see the trash ties — I have the feeling I’ll be as in love with them as I am with the rest of your creations!
Be kind to yourself — go to that movie! Something mindless and fun!
Long time lurker; first time commenter.
I think I’ve been anticipating the big reveal of Trash Ties almost as much as book 7 of Harry Potter! Please, I need to know what they are and what they look like to keep my sanity!! hehe
cute shirts, and I’m another excited to see… need any help locally- keep me in mind 😉
Heather, I am on pins and needles waiting to see what Trash Ties is all about!!!
So what exactly is “forgiveness cleaning?”
The shirts are adorable. Can’t wait to learn more about and see the product!
Really looking forward to the next fabric line too. Trying not to get too fidgety.
Forgiveness cleaning is that mad, empassioned cleaning that takes place after you’ve really let things go and you finally have time to do better. It’s like saying, “So sorry, family, that things have gotten out of control around here. I’ll show you that life can indeed get back to normal. Just watch how fast I can shape things back up! Please forgive me.” Forgiveness cleaning. New term : )
“Opportunity knocks once, let’s reach out and grab it. Together we’ll nab it. We’ll hitchhike, bus, or yellow cab it”
“We’ll do what?”
“Just forget it.”
Yeah, I’ll be singing that one all evening! I’m looking forward to the Trash Ties unveiling.
Just another person rubbing her hands together waiting for the goodies to be revealed!
How exciting! I can’t wait for the big reveal…and those tshirts are delicious!
the suspense is killing me!
Great T-shirts. Looking forward to viewing the new website.
I am so excited to see what you have come up with! Looking forward to the reveal! Hope you get your moment of peace movie in!

I can’t wait I can’t wait I can’t wait!!!
Hey Heather! yay! it sounds like things are moving right along. Cant wait for the big unveiling 🙂
Oohhh… Heather… you do know how to keep a girl waiting don’t you 😉
Can’t wait to find out about your Trash Ties!
I have been lurking for a few months now. I went to a Quilt Fair in Sydney this last weekend and saw your Freshcut Fabrics in real life. They just are really really lovely! I managed to buy just a few (24) fat quarters to make a lovely quilt for myself. I am always waiting to see what you are going to come up with next. You really inspire me!
Oh how exciting! I cannot wait to see what it is all about! 😉
I’m desperately wanting to cut my long hair into a cute little bob BUT I’m waiting to hear about this fabulous hair accessory!
Please update us soon!!
Awesome blog. I love visiting here.
Oh my gosh! I just read your title. I had already read the post a few days ago, but in checking your blog again, I read the title this time. Footloose and fancy free, I’m ready for the bigtime, is it ready for me? Such a perfect line for your new venture 🙂 Love the tee shirts by the way!
I just wanted to tell you that your blog is so inspiring to me. I am barely beginning to delve into simple sewing. I saw the pincushion you designed on your “Freshcut Projects” link (someone made one with your fabrics), and just fell in love with it. I don’t have any Freshcut Fabrics (LOVE them though, and plan to use them to make some fun, fresh-looking placemats!) Saw the pattern for the pincushion in “Quilts and More” mag and HAD to make one. I’m so glad it was simple enough for a total beginner like me! Thanks so much! I want to make more with YOUR fabrics.
Can’t wait to see the trash ties reveal and the new fabric! Good luck with everything. I hope you catch up on your rest. 🙂
How exciting to see an idea make it into production…and finally into stores!! Cant wait to see your trash ties…the pictures were interesting.
This was a weekend of fresh cut fabrics…lined a vintage suitcase…and made cafe curtains!
I’m so anxious to see the trash ties! I love the shirts…I’d wear it! ;o)
And you’re not alone on the straws, I love to use straws.
Amelia
Hey Heather – i am always fascinated with your talent. I am privileged to be your sister-in-law. I wish I had the talent to sew…I could just collect your fabric. It would be cute just on display in my house. Well hopefully you will design paper soon. I can hope to scrapbook with it soon. Can’t wait to meet with you too.
Love You,
Rachel
