It’s my birthday. My plan is to la-di-da all day — for just one day. The big plan is no plans : )

It’s also Grand Opening day. In honor of the occasion, I’m giving away a free pattern for La Fleur Debris brooch with every order placed in the HB store
from now until
midnight tomorrow*. This sassy pin can be made from your sewing
scraps, hence the name (floor debris + fleur-de-lis = fleur debris —
see?) and can be made entirely by hand. Wear one in your hair, on your
coat, or pinned to your purse. I’ve done all three, but not all at
once.
(Isaac says my parenthetical explanation is "too much exposition." I say "Bah.")
You may remember seeing some of these couch-flowers here before. This one is my very favorite to date (on that great little coat, on that great little girl!).
I figure a good-ol’ birthday giveaway is fitting as well — we have a serious tradition going — and I do have a whole tray’s worth of flowers made up. So, post a suggestion for a giveaway contest maybe, and one of the flowers will go to the best idea. Two other flowers will be won by sheer luck. Sound good?
Thanks for playing along. This is the third year of such silliness. Check out the joke contest from two years ago & the embarrassing stories from last year’s birthday. I could certainly use some more giveaway contest ideas — and a good helping of birthday giggles.
Happy ‘Day!
xo–Heather
**All orders received from Tues,
August 12th through Weds, August 13th at 11:59pm Pacific Standard
Time will include one copy of the Le Fleur Debris pattern. It’s a
printed pattern, not a download. No need to enter any codes at
checkout : )

How about asking people what was their favorite handmade gift they have received? This might double as an idea stimulator for those who are already starting on Christmas present sewing. 🙂
Heather, unfortunately I have no clever giveaway idea but I want to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Birthday! We happen to share birthdays and I have, not very subtly, left notes on my blog how much I love your fabric! My husband got the subtleness and this morning presented me with a gift certificate to your new webshop! Now I just can’t wait until the shop will have fabric from your Pop Garden collection. Hope you have a lovely day!
have a fabulous b-day, love your new flower creation, as with anything that you create with your awewsome fabrics which come alive when you mould them into a little someting special.
i look forward to seeing more beautiful things…. oh, and i should comment more too… sorry…you are so inspiring heather… thank you for your contribution to the arts…
tracey
I think in honor of the fleur debris you should ask everyone what was their favorite thing they made from “debris.” It might be interesting to see what else people have saved from the landfill and turned into something special like you did with these adorable little flowers!
Happy Birthday, by the way!
How about people’s favorite “jazz up” of a store bought item with crafting skills? Whether adding ribbon to a cardigan or trim to a basket, there would be plenty of examples.
Oh, and I meant to add HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Sorry for the rush – they are coming to turn off my power. Enjoy your day – it sounds lovely!
Happy Happy Birthday!
You could have a contest to see the strangest thing someone has done with one of these flowers. Or any of your patterns 🙂
I like Trina’s idea, but instead how about what are you making for other people for Christmas. With a baby due Christmas eve, I have a challenge to get going early and could use some ideas!!
Just to let you know “fleur” is a feminine word in French, so it’s not “Le fleur” it’s “La fleur” 😉
I love it though, it’s absolutely beautiful!
And a very happy birthday!!
I love your flowers! I am a flower person, although I do not have a green thumb when it comes to growing them. So fabric ones are great for me! How about a funky headband with a flower on it as a give away?! Of course I might be too old to wear flowers in my hair. When I was in high school YEARS ago I wore flowers in my hair all the time and they mentioned it on memory night!
I love your fabrics and all you do with them!
Have a Blessed Day,
Diane
I like Trina’s idea…best handmade gift received. Happy Birtday! Oh and I just LOVE Pop Garden. One seller showed your selvedge…with selvedge projects being so very popular now I’m sure none will go to waste. I’ve already made a selvedge bookmark and am waiting for my order of Pop Garden.

happy birthday! how about favorite music to listen to while crafting? sometimes i listen to punk rock and i’m not sure it’s a good thing ;).
happy birthday gorgeous!
How about, if you could have any tattoo in the world what and where would it be? I am imagining lots of bobbins, spools and tape measure tattoos lol
xox Katie
Happy Birthday! I wish you a most pleasing day! My suggestion is that everyone tell there silliest clothing moment. Like the day you looked down and realized you found that lost sock sticking out of your pant leg, or walked around with a dryer sheet in your shirt or realized you were wearing two different socks or the fact that you own two pairs of the same exact shoes in two different colors but happened to wear one navy shoe and one black on the morning you were running late. Or worn your slippers to work, unfortunately I am not making up any of these instances and I have more 😉 Hope I made you giggle!
Happy Birthday!
How about a giveaway contest based on best use of your sewing scraps? (since that’s how you created your Fleur Debris =)

how about this for an idea: Let people take a photo of a flower they made themselfs, which can be with any material or size.
happy birthday girl, hope you enjoy your day!
corinnexxx
Happy, happy birthday! Hmm…a giveaway idea? Maybe the chance to name one of your fabric designs…best name wins?
The flowers are lovely–so pretty and cheerful. Thanks for sharing all your lovely creativity!
Hope your day is marvelous! Think a birthday lunch at Joe’s Farm Grill might be a good idea…
Joanne
Happy birthday!!! I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for my pincushion pattern to ship… eek!! 🙂
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Heather….
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday!!! How about asking everyone to share the first item they ever sewed. I bet there would be some great memories brought up and some funny stories too!
It might be fun for folks to share what their favorite handmade gift is that they have given to someone else…
And happy, happy day!
Happy Birthday!
Thanks for having the giveaway – it reminded me I wanted to order some trash ties for my sister – she is a hairdresser and I think she will really enjoy playing with them!
I think for a contest you should ask people to send in pics of their favorite thing they have ever sewn with your fabrics.
Happy Birthday! Here’s wishing you a grand day!
As to ideas –
who taught you to sew?
what was your first project – that you finished (note not all projects were finished, at least by me)
I might say that I am passionate about sewing and creating. When things are going a little a-miss, I can pick up a needle and thread and in just a short while feel so much better. It is amazing how therapeutic sewing / creating can be. So pick up a needle and enjoy your day! ~Paula 🙂
Happy Birthday Heather! Love the site 🙂
Trash to treasure huh? Well it’s garage sale season right… you could have everyone go out to a local garage sale, pick out one item (uber cheap of course) and see how creative their renovation of that item is.
It could be the use of an old dress into an apron, or old ice skates into fun leather bindings, or a mannequin leg into a lamp…. who knows 🙂
Happy Birthday again!
Happy Birthday!
My contest idea: What is the funniest/craziest thing you have ever heard a child say?
Happy Birthday! I love birthdays – you could ask people what the best/worst handmade gift was they every received (something a la Ralphie’s pink bunny suit from A Christmas Story).
I can think of a few, in both categories.
Happy Birthday!!!
love the flowers.
you are so very talented!!!
contest? hmm??
fav birthday memorie?
oxoox,
jessi
Happy Birthday, Heather!
I’ve placed my order before the opening. Will it include the pattern anyway?
Thanks in advance,
Vero
Happy Birthday Heather! I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing day. You already have so many great suggestions for your giveaway. I second Trina’s idea of the handmade gift ideas. I’m striving for an all handmade, China free Christmas this year. Starting with your stacking rings that I’m making for my soon to be nephew who will be about 3 months old for the holiday. 😀
i love seeing what people made from their debris! or better yet… what people added to store bought items to make them even better! that could be turned into a contest? happy birthday!!
Happy Birthday! Have fun today!!!
Happy Birthday & have a great do-nothing/think everything day!
How about a contest to post great old poem we have found that mention fibre of some kind? (not that I have one already in mind, or anything like that…)
Happy Birthday,
H – Happy
E – Entertaining
A – Awesome
T – Talented
H – Hair Trash Tie Inventor
E – Energized
R – Really, Really INSPIRATIONAL!
& Creative, & Brilliant, & Crafty, & A Multi-Tasker, & Fountain of Unending New Ideas, etc!
I like something along the lines of Cindy K’s idea with music, but have a contest to pick the song that best fits one of your new fabric collections. Then you can have that music added to your website for viewers to listen to while browsing or shopping, to entertain and inspire them.
Happy Birthday!
as for a contest…..what was a big problem you had with a project and how did you save it?
Happy birthday Heather!!!!
Your flowers are gorgeous!
As for the contest here is my idea – best decorated apron awards! ;o)
I don’t have a suggestion, just wanted to wish you a very happy birthday!
Hmmm, my birthday is coming up and I was thinking of having a giveaway on my blog, maybe for the person whose comment number is the same age as my birthday. Since I’ll be 45 I may have to use all of August comments to get there, lol!
have a lovely birthday! do something spectacular 🙂
Happy Birthday! My family also passes along their regards for you. You are amazing.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
I hope it’s a wonderful, joy-filled day!
Hmmmm. A contest idea. My family is absolutely in love with your strawberry-pretzel icecream. How about a contest for the best homemade icecream ideas.
Or you could have a best recipe contest with a certain theme like “cookies” or “cupcakes.”
Happy Birthday!!!
I think you should give the pattern to everyone who posts and then have a contest on the most innovative use. Whether it be use of fabric, use of the actual flower, etc.
Whaddya think, huh?
Hmm…if I have to have a suggestion to win, how ’bout a contest full of flowers. How have people used florals to make their worlds beautiful. I can’t get enough of flowers – whether it’s on an adorable coat or pasted on a wall as wallpaper!
Happy Birthday!
I always like reading about silly mess-ups…especially as I am struggling through new skill usage during projects! I also like the idea of listing your music favs, for crafting time…anyways, there are lots of good ideas. Happy Birthday Heather, hope your la-de-dah, day was lovely!
Happy Birthday. They broke the mold when they made you:) How about everyones favorite flower?
Happy and colorful birthday Heather!!!
Happy, happy birthday Heather dear…
A contest idea – your favourite recipie/food, weirdest pregnancy food craving, your favourite place to travel or place you dream of visiting, favourite forgein food, the list could go on…
Anyway, have a great day!
Happy Birthday and congrats on the big Grand Opening!
Happy Birthday! Sing, eat cake and be merry! Enjoy your day!
I wish you A SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY !
I tried to order from Belgium 2 days ago (I saw the 10% reduction) but I couldn’t finished the order because the shipping information (I need a box because I ordered some scrapbooking papers) was not indicated, maybe can you explain how to make and valid my order ?
My name is Valerie Hilson
Thanks you !
Happy Birthday
My idea is have all your commenters name the strangest, most foolish or ugliest thing they have ever made. That would be interesting and funny, I think!
How about favorite birthday cake recipies? Happy birthday Heather and carry on making beautiful things for us to drool over.
Love from Iceland.
Happy Birthday! I love those adorable ‘floor debris’ flowers! How about people sharing their worst home improvement or sewing project stories? I hope your day is wonderful!
Happy Birthday to You! I like the idea of favorite item made from scraps! Have a wonderful day of nothingness.
How ’bout: How is your craft inspiration and why.
Happy Birthday Heather!! I popped into your shop to order some of the Pop Garden/Bijoux fabric but when you select that category nothing comes up. Are you out of fabric already or is there a problem with the site?
First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and happy la-da-di-ing. 🙂 What fabulous giveaway ideas! I have to say that I can think of no idea better than my two favorites that I have read:
“What is your favorite handmade gift?” (I totally need to be inspired for Christmas!) and “What is your favorite thing to make out of your scraps?” I would love the flood of ideas that would surely come from each!

Happy Birthday! The flowers are darling! Have a great day!
Happy Happy Birthday!!!
No ideas about the giveaway, but I also like the scraps one!
I Love all your fabrics and projects, so full of color. May you have a wonderfull day , full of love and care from your loved ones =)
Happy Birthday! I saw some of your photo from birthday party of your friend. What about most crazy birthday photo?
Happy Birthday to you I hope you have a wonderful day!
I have been creating a bunch of tutorials on my blog and I love to incorporate fabric scraps. A contest doing tutorials using fabric scraps would be fun! Meg
Hmmmmm…..how about a contest for the next color scheme for an upcoming line? Side note- I’d LOVE to see your patterns become a new product- nursery bedding collections. I’m considering attempting to make a set from one of your current lines! 🙂 That would be an adventure. LOL
Happy Birthday, Heather!!! Hope it’s a fabulous one!
Happiest of birthdays to you Heather! We are so lucky to have you to provide us with endless inspiration! Wishing you a lovely day.
~Emily
Happy birthday, Heather! Hope it’s as colorful and interesting as your creations 🙂 Here’s a giveaway idea: how about having people tell about their worst hair day and then giving the winner a Trash Tie or something like that? Could be amusing 🙂
What about the worst comment you got on a handmade gift? Mine was: “O that doesn’t matter honey I had times i was poor too”
Oh and gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag
Mijk (from holland)
Happy Birthday Heather!!
Seeing as it is your birthday…my suggestion for a contest giveaway is to see what is the best hand and home made gift you ever received for your birthday is.
Have a great B-Day!
Happy Birthday!!! As for a giveaway question, maybe a title that picture, or a fill in the quote bubbles of a picture.

Happy Birthday, Heather. Blessings for your day. You are a wonderful true woman.
Happy birthday!
Just found your blog, everything is just amazing!
As for interesting contests, how about strangest non-craft related fact about you. That could provide some super interesting posts!
Hmmm…how about best “treasure” made from or found in the “trash”? Happy Birthday!
Flowers bring out the hopeless romantic in me. I’d love to hear stories about the sweetest thing someone has ever done for your birthday. Love the give away idea and love the fleur-de-lis!!
I’d love more ‘debris’ projects- I have TONZ of scraps and little leftovers that I would love to use. I think voting on the most inventive and most fun design wins! Besides, we’d all get points for being “green”.
happy birthday! I don’t have any clever ideas to offer, but had to enter the “luck” giveaway! 🙂
Wow, I think you’re going to be tired of reading comments by the time you get to mine..haha! N-E-Ways I think a giveaway to someone unlucky (like me) would be great!! Yeah that’s it the “unlucky” giveaway…the worst ‘bad luck’. But that sounds kinds depressing…no?
Well either way…I would LOVE to win some, those are super duper adorable!!
No giveaway ideas, but wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday! It is my daughter’s birthday also so I’m off later to take her to lunch! Have a wonderful day!
Happy Birthday, Heather. Your blog is a stop I always make on my list of bookmarked sites. You are such an inspiration for young women. (I’m, however, old enough to be your mom.) I just ordered three of your patterns and am glad I chose today to do it. I’m excited to make the Fleur Debris pattern. I planned to make pin cushions and aprons for lots of coworkers for Christmas, but now some will be getting flower pins. Heaven knows I have enough “debris.” Enjoy your day! (As a previous reader wondered, are you out of fabric?”)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
My giveaway idea? That would be most perfect and amazing? A crafty day with YOU. Ohmysoul the ideas, the stories, the creativity. *sigh* probably I’m just dreaming 🙂 But it would be pretty fab!
xo and enjoy your big-do-nothing-plans to the fullest. Maybe eat an extra slice of cake even.
April
What adorable flowers!
Love your blog and all my best wishes for a wonderful b-day!
ok now for an idea… a mix of your fabrics with papers to great little journals!
Happy Birthday, I hope your day is filled with what makes you happiest! Sarah
How about asking people what their biggest crafting flop was? The project that was thrown together and ended up being inside-out, upside-down, too short, too tall, or just plain messed up. We’ve all had to sit for hours with the seam ripper before–right? Happy, Happy Birthday to you, I hope you have a wonderful day.
Happy Birthday! Many many more!
As for giveaway contest ideas:
– ask for creative uses for your fabric and scrapbook lines together?
– ask for pictures of items using your fabric on a flickr pool?
– have a pincushion contest?
– ask what is the best reaction to a gift you have handmade?
– ask who will take this year’s “handmade pledge” for the holidays and what will they make?
– ask how many others use parenthesis to explain things? (I do all the time, and I feel it’s like telling you a secret via email or blog post.)
– Or just give them away randomly?
All the best!
Happy Birthday! and grand opening, i love the new fabric and all the goodies. have a splendid day and sorry no ideas here 🙂
Happy Birthday! I would have a giveaway/contest where everyone can upload their heather bailey fabric projects to a group on flickr, and you can pick the winner.
Happy birthday!!! I LOVE the flowers!
Here is my suggestion:
Funny things you thought/misunderstood when you were a kid.
Hi Heather, first let me say how creative and inspiring you are! Just to look at your beautiful fabrics give me all kind of ideas. A thought for the contest is a funny moment with kids, I know as a mom you must have a ton, as do I. Someone may have said this already I haven’t read all the posts. Tiffany Napa ca
Hope you have a fantastic birthday, and tons of giggles!
Happy Birthday!
How about (if it hasn’t already been suggested) telling what our favorite batch of flowers ever received was?
happy birthday heather! since birthdays are on the mind, how about pictures of most creative birthday cakes?!?! yum. i’m hungry just thinking about it 🙂
and the fleur debris pattern looks wonderful. guess i’m going to have to go order something else 🙂
hope your day is very special and full of special people and special moments!
What is your weirdest misheard song lyric?
Happy Birthday Heather!
How about asking everyone their favorite or earliest crafting memory?
Headed to go shopping! Enjoy your la-di-da-ing birthday!
You should totally make people draw you birthday pictures in Paint or something! That would be hilarious!
how about your favorite gift to give (hand made of course) or your favorite hand made gift you have recieved
Happy Birthday Heather! Enjoy your day of no plans! How about asking people the different things that they have remade from items that are too small or getting ready to throw away. I hope that made sense!
Happy birthday and a very nice do-nothing day. 😀
Happy Birthday to you! As for for the contest I liked a couple of previous mentioned ideas such as “re-purposing” items and also embarrassing clothing stories – but mine would be more like looking down and realizing how incredible out of fashion I was in high school. I had several fashion disasters there!
I think best use of left over fabrics. We all have some of that. (hate to call it trash!!) Happy Birthday to you (my brother’s birthday also) You are the greatest!! Kathie
Happy Birthday! Now I’m going to have to go order MORE fabric!!
Happy, happy Birthday! I’ll be spending your birthday cutting up your fabric to make a 16 patch quilt for my youngest daughter for Christmas. It will have sock monkey fabric on the reverse side. She’s a bright and vibrant young woman, just like your fabric. And she still loves her sock monkey. It will be perfect!
Happy Birthday, Heather!
I think you should have a contest called “funniest sewing mishaps”. I know I’ve had my fair share, like the time I accidentally stitched a sleeve into the neckhole of a dress I was making, etc. etc.
May all of your dreams for the upcoming year come true. 🙂
xox Sabrina
Sometimes “Big Plans” are exactly what makes the day special. Being queen for a day can be exciting enough in my mind. A day just for you, just the way you like it with the things you love, and maybe some extra time to snuggle with them (be it babies, hubbies, puppies, or strawberries 😉
So…What is/was your favorite birthday celebration?
Happy Birthday Heather!
Happy Bday! Your fabric always inspires me and beckons me to create something!
I talked with my local (Peoria) quilt store and asked if she would carry your new line, and she said yes!! She placed an order yesterday. I’m so excited!
Contest giveaway idea? How about: A funny or embarrassing fabric store shopping experience.
First I’d like to wish you a very Happy Birthday!!!
Second, I’d like to say that I love love lvoe the store! It’s really awesome.
How about asking People “Aside from your wedding/birth of child, what was the happiest moment of your life?” Could be a surprise, a vacation anything that made them really happy.
Happy Birthday. How about your best ever “trash” find, or thrift item, or something that someone was throwing away that you rescued and reinvented and repurposed?
in the spirit of the parenthetical explanation Isaac gave to you, how about a giveaway contest where readers share their own parenthetical explanation? self-declared or otherwise.
Love the beautiful flowers.. wish I was getting pattern too,, but I already placed my order.. On the contest scene?, How about MY FUNNIEST DATE..?? That could be WILD…………..
Thanks for your wonderful blog.. I can hardly wait for new news..
Magy
Happy B-day!!! Hope you are having a lovely sort of day on this cloudy one!
I really like the crazy happy b-day photos! But how could you pic really? LOL There are so many of us crazies out there! I also love the christmas and the scraps idea. Which ever it is the flowers are fabion! My made up french word for fabulous!!!
Happy Birthday!
Since the flower is made out of scraps, maybe you should have everyone post a link to a craft made with recycled stuff!
Happy Birthday! how about a contest from one of your free patterns? Or even better why not release a new free pattern? some clothing perhaps????
Happy birthday, love your fabric! So many great ideas for your give away, How about best birthday picture????
Happy Birthday Heather!!! Hope you enjoy a day of relaxation and fun with your family… you deserve it! I think for a giveaway contest maybe it would be fun for people to write about their funniest mommy moments (always entertaining), or maybe the best toy made from “debris” for kids…?
I have two little ones so my mind is always in mommy mode!
-Denise
Happy Birthday! Maybe a contest having people tell how they oranize all their craft scraps!
Thanks
I think a Harry Potter trivia contest would be awesome. Of course that could be because I’ve been ‘studying’ everything Harry Potter for 10 years and haven’t come across a question that could stump me yet! By the way, I love your son’s Ron Halloween costume.
Happy Birthday Heather!!! I think that your Grand Opening is an amazing present to all of us! The scrap pattern is stunning!
I like Trina’s idea too. I love the idea of giving handmade gifts, but I’m never sure what people will really like .
Happy B-day Heather! I love your blog!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! just discovered your site through Stacey Julian – a great connection!
Good Luck you have a beautiful talent…
I think a ‘best-sewing-memory contest’. My mom taught me to sew and I have a ton of memories with her. And I especially remember playing fort with mom’s quilting frames. It really got in my way when she wanted to use them!
Happy Birthday to you!!!!!
Hello! How about our most emabarassing dates? Or just best dates, since you already done the embarassing story thing?!?!? Anywho, I think it should definitely have something to do with courtship, when we are all at our cutest and craziest! 😉
Happy Birthday. I love the flowers! For a contest you could do the best recipe to have a on a sewing day!
Happy Birthday! and Congratulations on your website launch….It is so colorful and vibrant!
Happy birthday! I love birthdays 🙂
I definately like the idea about handmade gifts. I have no problem making things for the ladies, but what can be made for the men in our lives, when they refuse to wear scarves?
I liked your parenthetical explanation; I’m always wanting explain things to other people, and I always love hearing other people’s explaination. Fleur Debris is pure inspiration.
I have no new ideas for giveaways, but am really hoping that luck will be a lady (love that musical!)
Happy birthday to you – Happy Birthday to you – Happy Birthday Heather!
I suggest using the first letters in your name and anyone who can use each letter to name or describe the names from your fist line of fabric, woith all being correct is a winner.
Sounds like a lovely day just for you to do nothing.
I love looking at the projects people create from using your fabric. Therefore, I think you should have a contest where people have to add a photo to one of your flicker groups of a project they created inorder to enter instead of a comment. You could still randomly select or pick your favorite that is entered in either of your flicker groups between two dates set by you. Those of use who don’t win will have the benefit of lots of eye candy and new ideas. 🙂 Have fun la de daing and a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Love the flowers, so fun!
How about your favorite memory involving a flower. Like when you were in grade school and you’d pick fresh daffodils to take to your teacher and you’d wrap the stems in wet paper towels and tin foil, or taking a walk around the yard with grandma and smelling the tiger lilies, or smushing your face in the lilac bush with your daughter for her first lilac experience…oh yes, I have flower memories, good ones. How about that?
Oh and last but not least HAPPY HAPPY on your day! Enjoy it to the last drop and then some, let the new year begin!
Happy Day Heather! You rock my crafty world lady.
So how about a Sewing Tricks and Treats Giveaway. Where some fantastically talented readers share their best sewing tricks and treat ideas with the rest of us…It could also be a fun fall giveaway with Halloween looming in the not so far distance.
Happy Birthday to YOU!!! For a giveaway idea…hmmm…maybe if everyone shared their favorite creation that they had made OR your worst battle wound from sewing! 😉
Happy Day Heather! You rock my crafty world lady.

What a wonderful day to have a BiRtHdaY! So I was thinking…. “What can I do to wish Heather the Happiest birthday ever?…” I was going to “sing” my families version of the birthday song… But it has something like 10 verses. So I decided I would “SiNg” you one of my favorite childhood birthday songs… (Here goes nothing!)
Happy Happy BiRtHdaY, Heather dear
Happy Days Will Come To YOU All YeAr.
If I Had One Wish, Then It Would Be
A HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY To YOU From Me!
Happy BiRtHdaY Heather! I hope your day is filled with PuRe JoYfUl HaPpInEsS!
(contest idea: ask people to submit their inspiring photographs?!?!)
Happy Birthday Heather! I hope your day and your Grand Opening are off to a huge success. I would want to see what others have done with your fabrics and your paper crafts line so I vote for the Show Off Your Stuff contest!
Happy Happy Birthday Heather Dear – I’m sure happy Days will come to you all year! Love the blog the store the fabric it’s all “POPing” ! Let’s see a fun idea for a giveaway! Oh I have no idea i do like alot of the other suggested ones though! Happy Day Again!
JEN
wow… Happy Birthday!!! You have so much fun stuff going on. Happy, Happy Birthday!
Contest: suggestions or other things people would like to see in the “other fun stuff” part of your store. I love that you have that part of your store. You do so many things that you could use that as a way to share things the “people” (that would be your obsessed blog readers! 🙂 would like to do. More of you sharing things with us but us picking them (perhaps from a list) I don’t know…
Anyways… I love your stuff. Every single bit of it. You are an inspiration!
Happy Birthday…la di dah days are the best! I think a good “give-away” question would be how who or what inspired one to sew, craft, or create. Since my grandmother was my quilting inspiration, I’m always interested in how others got their start.
“La di dah” days are the best…Happy Birthday! My idea for a give-away question is to ask how one was motivated to start sewing, quilting, crafting, creating, etc. My grandmother was my inspiration, and so I’m always interested in how others began!
One giveaway I entered had everyone tell about a random act of kindness someone had bestowed on them. It was such and encouraging and uplifting thing to read!
Happy Birthday!!
My give-away idea is asking your readers “What is the favorite thing you have ever crafted? Why? And what did you do with it?” or “What would you tell yourself 10 years ago?” or “What is your version of how the show FRIENDS should have ended?” or “What is the funniest thing you ever said or did as a kid, or what is the funniest thing your kids have ever said or did?” okay that’s enough ideas I think. Wait, my last idea is to have a give-away just because you want to have one.
Thanks for the give-away! Love the new site. Hope you are having a great day!
How about in honor of your birthday have everyone tell there most favorite birthday memory. Hope you have a great day!
Happy Birthday. Giveaway for the best practical joke played on someone, including self. I’d win.
Happy Birthday! I love your site. I would have a contest of what other people are doing with scraps – just a thought.
Happy Birthday (mine’s tomorrow) 🙂
Hmm…giveaway contest idea….how about writing a poem or uploading a picture to Flikr showing how badly they want to win whatever the giveaway prize is?
Or everyone tells their all-time favorite fabric.
I like the fabric scrap contest idea as well. Showing creativity using their little pieces.
Happy Birthday! I like the idea of a contest using fabric scraps as well. It would show everyone’s creativity using limited resources.
Happy, happy birthday! I hope you have a FABULOUS day!
The flowers are GORGEOUS, as always. And the new site is wonderful! I can’t wait to get my first order. 🙂
There are some great contest ideas posted already. I really like the idea of music to fit the fabric/project, but I think the favorite homemade gift would make for a very sweet read. Whatever you choose, I’m sure it will be fun!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I adore your blog, love your fabrics, and just think you’re pretty special! I hope you have a fabulous day.
For a contest, maybe you could ask people to tell their about their biggest handmade disaster. I’m sure we’ve all had big expectations for a project, that just didn’t turn out right. That might be funny.
Or… how about their favorite handmade gift (either one they received or one they gave).
What about sharing embarrassing High School yearbook pictures. 😀 We ALL have one of those!!
Those earning your next giveaway should have to describe in detail their biggest sewing disaster/failure. As a sewing novice, I have had many. Birthday bliss to you all day!
Happy Birthday, Heather! Your store looks fantastic! I just LOVE all of your products ande everything you create! You’re so inspiring!!
As for a contest suggestion – how about who can take a brown lunch bag and some fabric scraps and make the prettiest thing out of it? Ha! Just a silly thought. Or better yet – I’m one of those people who gives everything a name – my car is Frankie the Ford Focus x-5 – my Dyson vacuum cleaner is Doris, etc. What about a contest to name your sewing machine – if it doesn’t have a name yet? Or the best name for a sewing machine? Hee hee! Ok, I’ll stop here. I’m showing too much of my dorkiness. 🙂 Have a great birthday!! Hugs! 🙂
Have a great b-day. Just want to Thank you so much for getting me reinspired about sewing and making things for my 3 girls. I just love your blog and all your wonderful ideas. You are an inspiration. A contest about what was your favorite handmade gift would be great and give people ideas for new projects.
Happy birthday Heather!! Summer is such a wonderful time for a birthday. Darling flowers!! For a giveaway idea how about your most memorable birthday present received or most memorable birthday gift given.
Can’t wait to receive my order!!! I’ve been dreaming of all the wonderful projects to make with my new fabric (spent my birthday money on it:))
Hi Heather! I hope you have a truly delightful birthday! My daughters are just learning to sew, so your site is very helpful to me, since I am sort of a novice myself. For the contest: name the strawberries (with cute names); I like the “what was your best trash to treasure creation?” and what about a favorite crafting memory from childhood? Again, have a lovely day!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Heather! Today is my Anniversary so I’m celebrating too! 🙂 Hope you have a great day! How about a Birthday Rap contest. Heehehehe…
Happy Birthday!
Well, I would love another giveaway contest… I would love people to enter ideas/suggestions for children’s halloween costumes. I would love to make my son something fabulous, but he’s still a little guy (I’m not even sure he’ll be walking by halloween). Then, you could give away something fabulous:):) It sounds great to me!
Thanks! Christine
Happy Birthday and Congratulations on the opening of your store!
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day of just la-di-da-ing!
Contest idea: Most creative creation with your products… whether its your fabric, patterns, papercrafting items, or all of them combined.
hmmmm. since it’s a birthday give away, how about the best year of your life and why? lol. happy birthday, hope you have a beautiful one 🙂
Happy Birthday!
How about sharing a favorite birthday party picture of yourself when you were little?
Have a fabulous day!!!! I love birthdays 🙂
I think that the funniest art/crafting moment would be great. I also like the clothing idea… here’s one… when criss cross was super popular, I too wore my pants inside out and backwards to school. WHAT WAS I THINKING???
How about favorite pet stories or Most meaningful quilt stories? I’m sure someone else already said that but it is the first thing that came to mind.
Happy Birthday Heather!!!
-Katherine M.
This has probably already been mentioned, I only made it halfway through the comments. How about sharing your worst sewing nightmare story. The project that started with the best of intentions and just turned into a puddle of poop. But you finished it anyway, and you still hate it.
Happy Birthday!!!
These are just beautiful, as are you and all your lovely creations. Thanks for being a bright spot in the artsy-crafty world! 🙂
Happy, happy birthday to you. I hope you enjoy yourself today. I love days of nothing planned.
How about a contest of the most favorite birthday present ever received? Or maybe a birthday tradition? Every year I take a picture of my daughter and I love looking back on them and seeing her changes year to year. She’s always wearing brown and pink. 🙂
well happy birthday to you! it’s my hubby’s bday too. Just made him his fave Milky Way cake for tonight. Hope you have a great day!
Happy birthday Miss Heather!! It is my birthday and anniversary, too, so let’s celebrate!! I hope you have a wonderful day today!
My favorite contest ideas involve people linking to their own blogs where theyve posted pictures such as messiest house, favorite room, craziest colored walls, best purchase, etc.
And, while I am now headed to the shop to get the pattern, I would of course, love one by you!
How about a suggestion of everyones favorite cupcake in honor of your birthday!
I am not sure if it was suggested but what about first item sewn. Or I think that homemade Christmas items is a fantastic idea! That’s my first vote though I am not sure if an borrowed idea counts! 🙂
Happy Birthday!!
Stacy J sent me this way…
So I zommed right over to say
Hope you have a fabulous birthday!
I have no good ideas for your giv-way
But your store makes me want to go play.
(I have never once commented in rhyme but your blog and store just brought out the creativity in me!)
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday to YOU, Heather! My birthday is NEXT Tuesday and I hope to have a contest on my blog as well! I think you should either: 1) Have people send in pics of their favorite project with your fabric OR 2) send in photos of the favorite quilt project with any fabric. Thanks for your beautiful creations so that we too may be inspired to create beautiful things!
happy birthday, I hope your day of no plans is nice and restful and includes some un interrupted reading time :).
Giveaway idea:
Favorite Flower
flower story?
I also liked the already mentioned idea of favorite hand made gift.
Happy Birthday! Hope you are having a great day!
My idea is to have a “I have a secret” contest. People can post “secrets” like I have a secret candy stash or I sometimes clean up real quick before my hubby comes home to make it seem like I have been cleaning all day or I once had a crush on my best friends boy in high school. It’s always fun to hear peoples secrets 🙂
Happy Birthday! I found your blog through Donna Downey’s a while back, and I have to tell you it’s a visual treat every time I visit. Thanks so much for the inspiration! My giveaway idea (totally off the top of my head): favorite way to combine two or more handcrafts/hobbies. I love scrapbooking, but I love sewing too and I can’t seem to make a scrapbook page without my sewing machine or needle. Congrats on your store as well — your fabrics are lovely! I don’t know if I can get them anywhere in Canada, but I plan on ordering some online if I can’t get them locally.
Happy, Happy Day! I hope it’s as restful as you want it to be!
I LOVE the flowers, and they give me an excuse to go place another order! Shhhh….don’t tell hubby!
For your giveaway, what about having everyone complete at least one unfinished item in the sewing room and post about it? Howver, that would require that I get off the computer and start to work!
How about a giveaway where you have to say which project you’ve made that you’re the most proud of or what was the scrappiest project you’ve ever made? Love the flowers!
I hope you are having the best day ever!
Hugs from the Netherlands
Happy Birthday! For your giveaway…how about the decorative item in your childhood bedroom that you remember most vividly or love most passionately? I had a Precious Moment-like print of a girl holding a candle and for years I wondered if her ear was on fire!
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
Happy Birthday Heather! How about a contest sharing the best creations from the smallest scrap–like your brooches!

Happy birthday, Heather! Wishing you a wonderful day and a sparkling, happy year to follow.
The flowers are beautiful (as is the photograph of them!).
My mind is a complete blank on the ideas front, but wanted to wish you a happy birthday anyway. x
How about a favorite birthday memory, tradition or celebration? Or how about favorite birthday cake and share the recipe?
Happy Birthday Heather hope you have a fab day. Love the new website.
Mell x
Happy Birthday Heather! Your Fleur Debris is gorgeous, and the name is so fun.
You could have a contest where people could show off their homemade items that were based on all your fabulous free turtorials.
~Angel
Happy birthday! What about a simple “what’s your favorite flower and why?” or “what memories does your favorite flower evoke?”. What are your favorite handmade gifts to give and/or to receive? Congrats on the store opening – can’t wait for my pre-order goodies to arrive!
Happy Birthday.
My suggested giveaway contest is revealing the worst handmade gift you have ever made/received.
Happy Birthday! My suggestion is asking people what age they felt was their happiest time.
I’m de-lurking to wish you a happy birthday! You should have people write a haiku about couch-flowers for the giveaway.
How ’bout a contest, a photo contest, of your favorite/coolest thing ever made from your debris? I’ve seen some cool stuff made from selvages and teeny tiny scraps…
HAPPY 8-12 BIRTHDAY!!!!
Happy Birthday! Congrats on the shop opening. ~jen~
Happy Birthday! I find so much inspiration on your site and love the trash ties! For a give away have people tell you how flowers brightened their day. I run on a trail in the city and there is a house that has a large flower garden planted outside their fence for people to enjoy on the trail. It always makes me happy to run that route!
Happy Birthday!
How about favorite debris used in a scrapbook/ photo album?
Happy Birthday! I hope you have a great Grand Opening! I am not about a giveaway idea, I just like winning the giveaways!
Happy Birthday Heather! Hey girl…your paper goods are so pretty…well, ALL of your stuff is so pretty! I only wish I had more time to learn to sew again…someday! But, for the scrapbook stuff…any ideas when or if it will ever be in stores or is it already…sorry if it is…duh to me…or just online? Gotta plan my shopping! Shanie 😉
Happy Birthday! ~Tanya
I don’t have any good contest ideas either and hope to win on sheer luck. Happy Birthday, Happy Grand Opening. Here’s hoping you have a wonderful day today. Take care and God bless, Cory
How about: What is the first creation you ever made and gave away for a gift?
Always love your posts, creations, site!
Wow! Look at all these comments.
Ideas for give-aways:
guess what’s hanging on the fridge
guess 3 items currently on Heather’s desk
I liked the fabric naming idea too.
Happy Birthday! Jenni
Happy Birthday to you!!! What a pretty site you have. I found you through Stacy Julian’s blog 🙂
Just found your blog. I love your stuff.
Suggestion for contest/giveaway…hmmm…two things that you’ve done that you’d never tell your grandmother.
Happy Birthday!
What beautiful Flowers, off to check out your shop 🙂
happy birthday. i love the flowers! my suggestion is to share your most embarrassing moment as a parent… cause we all know our kids can embarrase the tar out of us!!!! but they are so cute while they do it.
Umm i dont quite have any special ideas for the contest but just wanted to wish you Happy Birthday !! Hope you have a wonderful day !!
Happy Birthday! Love the flowers. So colorful. How about a contest where everyone tells their best birthday memory.
I think I have a couple of ideas
1) the item you’ve sewn that you are the most proud of
2) the first successful sewing project you ever finished
and the winner gets the fleur debris pattern and/or maybe samples of your fabrics to make a few with?
Or how about your favorite craft stores from around the world?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Happy Birthday. It’s my husband’s b’day today also. He was born in 1954 and is 54 today. We are having “smashed taters & gravy” (NOT heart-healthy!!)…it’s his birthday treat. YOU are an inspiration to this grandmother…helping me stay young-at-heart!
Happy Birthday Heather!
Loving your new line of fabrics, patterns, and fun papers, etc……Maybe suggest some unique ways to wear the flower pins……
best wishes,
Laurie
Happy Birthday!!
You could ask everyone to post their most embarrassing photos…then again, you should use your powers for good.
Have a wonderful birthday, Heather!! It is always such a treat to visit you wonderful and colorful blog! You are a ray of sunshine!
Happy Birthday – Love those flowers they are so fun and pretty. How about everyone has to buy two products starting with the same intials of their name and have to make something. FOr instance mine are MF so I might buy masking tape and felt. Then create something with both of them. Get those creative juices flowing !!!
Enjoy your day
Happy B-day, Heather!!! Love the new web shop. Too late in the day for any ideas. Hope luck is on my side for one of your gorgeous flowers. Love that tray of them.
Happy Birthday! Hope it’s a super-duper one!
Happy Birthday! For a give-away you could ask everyone to share their favorite Birthday tradition, hopefully something out of the ordinary.
Happy Birthday! Pick me!
Happy Birthday! How bout a giveaway for the best “name you wish you got instead of your name?” or “crime you wish you could commit?” ok these suck but maybe i’ll get lucky and win one of the other two! cheers!
Happy Birthday! How bout a giveaway for the best “name you wish you got instead of your name?” or “crime you wish you could commit?” ok these suck but maybe i’ll get lucky and win one of the other two! cheers!
Happy Birthday Heather! I just ordered some fabric from your store!! The store looks beautiful! 🙂
Wishing you a very, very happy birthday, Heather! 🙂
Hmmmmm….contests…..I think it would be funny to hear the grossest food you actually ate and the worst job you ever had. I know those always make me laugh! Thanks! I love your site so much it is just beautiful!!!!!
Happy, happy, happy BIRTHDAY!! You are truly inspiring when it comes to craftiness, so my question would be – Who or what inspires your craft ideas? Love your new fleur-debris!!
Happy birthday Heather. Hmmm…let’s see, debris is funny on it’s own. What’s the best thing someone has found in the garbage? I found an extra large campbells soup tin full of change. The flowers are lovely as ever.
It’s Your BIRTHDAY ….. Oh Happy Day!!! Hope you’re making it the BEST. those flowers are adorable. I sure hope I win one too. My only idea is to ask everyone what they do with their fabric. Is it more stashing or sewing maybe even some drooling. I know what I do. Your new patterns really inspire me to use some of my fabric. but just some LOL. Love your new site. I Preordered a whole cart full last night. cant wait to get the goodies
Happy Birthday Dear Girl!!!!!
I Love those flowers!!!
Laura
Oh, how about a countdown to Christmas posting ideas for handmade gifts and family projects? Happy Birthday Heather, can’t wait to get my fabric and patterns! Oh and I loved the cupcake idea, so maybe favorite family recipes?
How about revealing your secret “blow-out-the-candles” wish… Happy Birthday!
Just want to wish you a very Happy Birthday! I love your blog/store. I saw your beautiful prints in ME mag and was excited to visit your site.
first sewing project! (i made curtains for my own room when i was a teenager)
and happy happy birthday, oh goddess of needle and thread 🙂
Happy happy birthday!!! I so look forward to each blog entry and the gorgeous pics that accompany them!
Hmmm, maybe who can make the biggest ball of scraps???(ie the biggest ball of twine, etc??!)
Happy Birthday Heather! It’s mine too, I hope you’ve had a wonderful day! I think a most memorable birthday present from childhood story contest would be fun, or most memorable birthday party. Happy Happy Day 🙂
I’m not an idea person. I’m just here to win out of “sheer luck”.
🙂
Happy Birthday Heather!
I hope you have a fantabulous day, and week!
How about a flower swap, since swaps are so big right now. Anyhoo ENJOY! its your day
Nadine
the material girls quilts
As always, thanks for the inspiration!
Contest, contest…hmm, I like the idea of a “most creative use for ____” contest. Like most creative use for old teacups. Or wooden clothespins. Or grandma’s box of not-so-pretty greeting cards that she received free from charities wanting donations from her.
Or…most creative/unique use for leftover fabric scraps–YOU WIN! 😀
Have a great one 🙂
Happy Birthday!
I think a fun giveaway contest would be to have people tell a story about the very first sewing project they ever remember working on.
Happy Birthday Heather!!! I hope it was the best ladeda day for you….
I have been racking my brain for something clever for a blog give away.. and I am just not clever enough…. So how about having ppl leave a comment with 3 fun facts about them selves… That’s all have… LOL lame I know..
Oh what cute flowers.. My girls scrapbook and have been bugging me to crochet some flowers for them… They would fight for this flower you made.. lol.. but if I win it.. I will ware it with pride and tease my girls… Hope your Birthday was the best ever!!! So Happy Birthday to you…
Oh my… I found an awesome website… I am in LOVE !!!! THANKS HEATHER !!!!
What about a contest hightlight the craftiest person you know? (like really KNOW, not just someone you admire over the internet). Could be a really cool way to give a couple of folks some spotlight and see some new up and comings out there… Happy Birthday!
What about a contest hightlight the craftiest person you know? (like really KNOW, not just someone you admire over the internet). Could be a really cool way to give a couple of folks some spotlight and see some new up and comings out there… Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Heather!!
My contest suggestion: What’s the funniest youtube video you can find! Usually you can find a funny clip of a movie, but there are so many creatively funny people out there on youtube! Can you imagine… an evening full of laughter, one after the other, to try and find a winner! hehehehehe… I’m giggling already! How ’bout you? 😛
Wow awesome flowers… happy Birthday Heather!!!!! and many more great ones to come.. no idea on the giveaway.. but there are alot of great ideas already…
Happy Birthday and Congratulations on your new store!
Loving your stuff…some material I wanted already sold out 🙁 AS for a give away…maybe you could do a “name that new material” of course you would have to design more fabulous material for us all to enjoy!
Happy Bday Heather
And here is to good ol luck in winning one of your precious yummy flowers!!!
Cindi
what about people’s top tips – perhaps top sewing tips or top household tips?
Happy Birthday to you too!
Happy Birthday to you…..Happy Birthday to you…….Happy Birthday, Dear Heather- who has the really cute site and great stuff to buy…….Happy Birthday to you! And many , many more. Cheers!
Happy Bday! I think anything from you would be a great giveaway!

Happy Bday Heather
And here is to good ol luck in winning one of your precious yummy flowers!!!
Cindi
Happy Birthday!! Hope you have a fabulous one, you deserve it!
As for contest ideas how about: Your favorite item you have ever made, your favorite crafting memory, or your best/funniest craft mess-up story.
Happy Birthday!!
How about…most creative use of Heather Bailey fabrics?
Love the flowers!!
I love the Fleur de Lis. All of them are very pretty.
My idea for a giveaway: How about you post pictures of different swatches of your fabrics and people have to name each one correctly?
Blessed Birthday! I really love your creations! My suggestion: Favourite word and the emotions / pictures / color that word evoke! Mine right now is “Wonder”, as I consider aguamarine, olive green and the beuaty in the everyday, which we seem to take for granted as we grow older.
May your sense of wonder live on as another beautiful year unfolds….hugs…
Hope your birthday is wonderful!!
You are truly an inspiration.
Thanks
Julie
Happy Birthday! I would love to have a contest and see inspiring ideas for using your fabrics to do wedding love birds for on top of wedding cakes….they are so adorable and with your fabrics even cuter!
Hi Heather, Happy Birthday! Your favourite pin and coat is also my favourite and ever since seeing it I have been on the hunt for that fabric! It is what first inspired me to learn sewing! Have a great day… or week. My birthdays tend to last longer than a day, I hope yours does too!
Marie/x
I am blown away by all the suggestions and have nothing to top them but I wanted to wish you an absolutely wonderful birthday Heather. You help make life happy. Thank you.
Happy Birthday! I personally get most excited about the giveaways where you’re offering your FABRICS, but I think you’re looking for new ideas, so . . . hmmm. What about a custom creation giveaway? You could set the parameters. Or, maybe a giveaway of one of your favorite tools/notions?
I would LOVE one of those flowers though. 🙂
Hmmm, how about a “cute things the kids say”, or maybe the sweetest handmade gift received contest? Love the flowers and I love your blog! Happy Birthday!
Hmmm… have you made it all the way back here? I like the acrostic poem idea….for Pop Garden or Bijoux.
Happy Birthday!
Doh! I’m so stupid — I just realized (after commenting) that you’re asking for suggestions for what kind of contest, not for ideas of what to give away. OK, what about: the funniest sewing “confession”? Or the most hilarious creation you’ve ever seen? Hey, I like this kind of a contest within a contest thing you’ve got going on here.
Since you mentioned that your giveaways are often silly, how about giving readers a name/word/phrase relating to your product line and have them create the funniest/coolest product name using the original letters.
BTW, looooove “Fleur Debris”…I laughed out loud…hehehe
Happy Birthday! I remember participating in the embarrassing story post! How time flies?!
Well I think a perfect giveaway would be a pattern. I’ve been collecting ideas and started to tackle my long list of gifts to make. I don’t have every one covered on my list yet, so a pattern giveaway is my suggestion! Hope you have a fun & relaxing bday!
I think you need to do a random act of kindness contest. Everyone does a random act, leaves a comment and includes a name. You choose (randomly, of course) and send a treat to the person and their friend or random acquaintance that they choose. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday–hmmm…. in honor of your giveaway what about a contest to see who has the best ideas on “what to do with the floor debris” I know I have oodles and gobs of scraps of pretty fabric just waiting for their purpose. I know I am game 🙂
Cute flowers and Happy Birthday, but I have no ideas for a contest. Too many other good ideas.
Happy Birthday!!!
suggestion for a giveaway contest:
Happy Birthday to you!
A photo contest. The cutest pictures of readers children or babies with their favorite handmade animal or doll.
Nicole
birthday fun!
i vote for the best use of debris,
and the acrostic poem!!!
Heather – Pure Inspiration! If I wasn’t playing lacrosse tonight I’d be scrapping my fabric collection together and stitching up something in the hope of making it look as gorgeous as the things you make! I love it all. Love your fabrics, so fresh and lovely.
Love your work!
hmmmm….really bad haircut pictures receive a trash tie?
Or…share a craft idea for fabric 6 inch squares which I always want to buy a stack of, but never know what to do with…. (and receive a group of 6 inch squares as the prize! TOO FUN!!!)
Or, just for dumb fun, since you’re into photography also, have everyone send in their best Heather Bailey copycat photo of your “eye shot.” I think it’d be funny. For a prize…hmmm, autographed Heather’s eye photo? Ha!
That’s it. I’m all out of creativity.
Happy Birthday. I was also looking at Anna Maria Horner’s blog and I think it may be her birthday, too! Spooooooky. 🙂
I didn’t have time to read through all the suggestions, so this may have been mentioned, but I’ll put it out there anyway. Best pulled together last minute (read:I forgot!) birthday present.
Hope you had a great day. It doesn’t matter how old I get I still love my birthday!
Happy Birthday Heather….enjoy yourself!! I like the idea of first sewing/crafting project made as a child. If you sew to sell, what was your first project sold. I made 100 cotton loop potholders in 4th grade and sold them for 15 cents each. I took custom orders to match the
loops to each kitchen….crazy huh? I am almost
62 so $15 was a lot of money to me. You are an amazing young woman, keep up the great designs.
Happy Birthday to you! How about finding out who has the most unfinished projects? I know I have a ton and some of them I wonder what I was thinking…I just bought the pincushion pattern and the strawberry pincushion kit. I am soooo very excited to get making some fun pincushions thanks to you! Have a great day, enjoy taking one for yourself!
Happy Birthday! Here’s my ideas for your next giveaway:
How about a blast from the past giveaway. Like an “I can’t believe I wore that outfit” (for example, the shiny gold spandex with pink and blue stripes down the sides that I begged my mom to buy for me in the early 90s when I was 12 – sick).
Or the funniest thing you’ve said/done in your sleep.
As a small business owner and mom, your success is quite an inspiration. Thanks!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEATHER!!!
Hows bout a monochromatic madness photo contest where everyone would piece together random craft items of the same color in an artistic manner and photograph it! Crazy fun! LOL!
Happy Birthday, Heather! Here’s my ideas for a giveaway:
A blast from the past giveaway could be fun – like an “I can’t believe I wore that” post. I begged my mom to buy a pair of shiny gold spandex capris with a thick pink strip down one side and a blue strip down the other when I was 11 or 12 – sick.
Or do a funniest thing you’ve said/or done in your sleep post.
I hope your birthday was a nice treat – you deserve it.
How about “What was your favorite handmade gift you ever received?”
I love to give and receive handmade items…they just mean so much more!
Happy Birthday Heather!
Happy Happy Birthday! I hope your day is wonderful! Milk it for all it’s worth, haha. I’m not so great with suggestions, but how about people’s most memorable birthday or their most memorable gift (given or received). Like I said, not so great with the suggestions 🙂 I look forward to receiving my pack of goodies that I ordered the other day, yay!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
(shamefaced I forgot to mention it in my last comment)
Happy birtday! hope you had a great day
Here’s my idea for your next giveaway:
similar to a few others but . . . most unusual use of pattern or fabrics.
I also like the suggestion of favorite gift recieved
B’Day Hugs & Wishes Heather xoxo Hope your Day was all you Wished for & More…
Luvin the idea for * Best Flower Memory…
Idea #1 Creative Inspiration – Where do you find Yours ???
Idea #2 Childhood Memories of Sewing & Creating…
Idea #3 Colours & Fabrics… What feelings do they Evoke in You ???
What handmade item meant the most to you in your childhood and who was it made by…
LOVE the flowers! I tried to make something like that a few months ago for the top of a package… yours is definately cuter!
Happy belated birthday! Your creations are beautiful. Good luck!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy Birthday!
I think you should celebrate all week, so Happy Birthday today too!
For the giveaway…how about a trade of wee birthday gifties? You send the winner (me!) a little treat on her birthday, and the winner (me!) sends you one right back. Incidentally, my birthday is right around the corner so you could pick me and cross the giveaway off your to-do list in one fell swoop. I promise it will be birthday-worthy!
Wow!!! I’m sure glad Stacy Julian turned me on to your site. I am blown away by your talent and will have to shop with you — i,m just crazy for paper and now for you fabric, as well! Happy Birthday! My favorite blog entry is how you made pants for your daughter on Christmas morn! Awesome!!!! Contest suggestion: How about most unusual pin cushion? Mine is a little bowl of Eskimos – my MIL got for me on an Alaskan cruise to celebrate the time my husband lived there. I just bought my girls a ME teacup and Birdhouse. Your fruits are darling and I’ll just have to have a berry!!
How about a contest involving using both paper and fabric, as you do so well creating both?
Happiest of birthdays!!
Happy Birthday Heather. I think your idea to take the day JUST FOR YOU is great 🙂 Enjoy your day. As for a giveaway, how about ask what might be a person’t greatest way to use their scraps?
Have a festive birthday, Heather!
For a sillier contest, have people send in the best notes written in their old high school yearbooks. Could make for some serious comedy!
Happy Birthday Heather!
Happy Birthday! How about sharing some favorite children’s crafts for a giveaway idea?
You could have a contest with the most cleaver way to use one of these flowers on a quilt or tote.
Happy Birthday!
You could have a contest with the most cleaver way to use one of these flowers on a quilt or tote.
Happy Birthday!
Many happy returns! I say you make everyone write a silly poem or limerick, or maybe even riddles. I used to get such a kick out of reading them when I was little. Gorgious flower pins – I’ve already made one like yours last year for a friend – very fun use of scraps!
Happy birthday to you! One giveaway idea would for people to tell about their biggest craft flop. We’ve all had them, learned from them, and hopefully kept going onward. Lovely flowers!!
How about embellish the beautiful HB quilts!! I might have to do that next time! My girls insisted we take our Freshcut quilt to Florida on vacation, they love it and I don’t know which girl it will get passed down to! I am using my Pop Garden for a very special project. Just to let anyone who reads this know, it is even more gorgalicious in person (that’s my new word-ha, not to be confused with girlicious used by weird Tan Boy on Project Runway 🙂
PS Happy Birthday!!
Well…when I think of flowers I think of their scents….so maybe ask what our fav flower scents are. 😀 Happy Bday Heather!!!
Love love love those flowers Heather!! And Happy Happy Birthday!!!!! For the giveaway, how about getting us to link up to our most creative crafty flowers that we’ve ever made?
Happy Birthday! I think an interesting give away topic would be to ask everyone what inspired them to start sewing/crafting/being creative! It could be the first thing they made, a certain person, etc. I am just leaning how to sew at the age of 27 and would love to know what inspires everyone!
Happy Birthday!
My idea is favorite inspirational quotes.
Have a beautiful day!
Amy
Happy Birthday! What about a having people share stories of their very first sewing project.
Have a wonderful day!
Suggestion: I love your fabrics. I have twin girls. I want to make a quilt for each of them. Matching but not exactly alike. I think it would be great if you sold “quilt kits” in your store. I want some of all your new fabric line, but can’t justify buying 1/2 yard of each. If you had kits with fat quarters or some other random size it would be great for quilts and other little craft projects. It would be a great way to let your “fans” buy a little of all the fabrics.
You have my best wishes for a splendid natal anniversary! May you be showered with friends, gifts. . . and delicious cake!
Happy Birthday, Heather! Such lovely flowers!
As for a giveaway idea…how about concocting a tailor made Olympic event? As in, I would win the gold for most hoarded fabric in the world? Or most triumphant scatterbrain? I would level the competition in daydreaming and trips to the yogurt store. There’s Olympic gold in all of us, I’m convinced!
Happy Birthday!!!
I love, love, love the chipboard flourishes! Painted and ready to go! Layouts will look fantastic and done in minutes.
The Flourishes just make me want to go outside and spin! Very fun!
Kathy Jo
Feliz Aniversario!!!!
Heather my suggestion would be to know how many times a week people visit your site and what bring then to check your site(blog)
I believe I do 6-7 times a week, because I just can’t wait to see what creative think you made.
other suggestion is from what state are your FANS from…I am from TEXAS…
blessings
jackie
You say it’s your birthday … it’s my birthday too. Aug. 12 is a good day … my vintage is 1972 – I’d like to think that I am aged to perfection – ok – not really!
Sorry no great give away idea … unless it was to ask for your favorite handmade Christmas present – either given or received.
Hope you had a happy day ~ I sure did!
Awww….HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! Sadly, I have no “great idea” for a giveaway. But I do want to tell you that ALL your stuff is just so fabulous! Love the ideas and especially the FABRIC oh and the SCRAPBOOK COLLECTION (well just EVERYTHING that you create)! Have a great day!
Hi! First of all, I wish you a FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS!!
I don’t have any idea about a “flower-y giveaway “, but, with the idea of your birthday, why don’t think this one?
WHAT WAS THE FUNNIEST/STRANGEST/LOVELIEST THING YOU’VE EVER LIVED IN A BIRTHDAY PARTY?
Hope you had a big day.
Hughs from Spain,
Marta
How about a contest for Heathers of all types? Names, flowers, and any combination thereof :)You could broaden it a bit by adding things that rhyme (feather, weather)
Happy be-lated! Hope you had a fabulous day! And I’m with several of the above posters . . . in wanting to know what the best hand-made gift ever received is.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all your patterns, fabrics and papers! Can’t wait to get my hands on all of the above. 😉
Just want to add to the birthday wishes! I wish my own “floor debris” looked so pretty! ~smile~
Heather, Happy Birthday! Congragulation on inaugration of your online store. I think your store has very cool and classy stuff. I am happy that I discovered your websit through Donna Downey’s blog.syeda
Happy Birthday!! Here is a contest idea… Favorite Book read this summer – I already know mine 🙂
correction, I came to know about your website through Stacey Julian.
Happy Birthday!
How about a contest with your favorite birthday memory?
Happy Birthday! Aren’t August birthdays the best! Mine is this coming Saturday. We have a ton of August birthdays in both my family and my hubbie’s, so we spend most of the month celebrating! What fun!
Ahh Happy Birthday Miss Heather. You almost share your B-Day with Harry Potter. Yes, much too big of a fan..
Let’s see..My imagination is slightly tapped lately so I (meaning me) would have some sort of contest-name that color / print or something. I have a hard time coming up with new ways of saying “pink” or “green”. I think people would jump at the chance of sharing in your creative process. 🙂
Sandi
I wanted to wish you a happy birthday! I made the big mistake of going to your website…after placing my order I may have to get a second job!!!!!LOL Thanks for making such beautiful fabrics. Looking forward to receiving everything so I can make your lovely purse. Oh, not to mention I sought our the Bijoux and Pop Garden fabrics….and bought tons of that…I am going to be in SO MUCH TROUBLE!
Yesterday was such a special day it was birthday time for you, I’ll type a song that we all know… Happy Be-lated Birthday to you!
Idea: Most interesting birthday gift recieved.
or the Most creative use of these flowers
PS LOVE THE FLOWER!, can’t wait till I have a little girl to put these on, until thn my niece will reap the benefits, and think of all the other possiblities
Wow. There are some good ideas up there. How about crafting/cooking bloopers? I love hearing about the silly things people accidentally do when trying out a new project. I think it makes my mis-steps seem more reasonable!
Have a wonderful birthday!
I am so excited about this that I keep checking every few hours to see if I’ve won a flower. When will you decide which contest and who the random winners are?
I like the “trash to treasure idea”. I also like the idea of naming a fabric piece. Or how about since we’re all into making handmade gifts, what is the one thing that you made and gave to someone as a gift, but deep down inside you wished you kept it for yourself because you absolutely loved it.
Heather I hope you had wonderful birthday. I haven’t read the comments so this may have already been suggested. How about using ideas for using Trash ties in crafts and or sewing projects.
Happy Birthday. Like everyone else I love your… umm EVERYTHING!
I own an “As Seen On TV” Dressmaker, which I have never taken out of the box so chances that I make any of your super awesome downloadable patterns is slim to none, so hopefully my idea will win!
I was out yesterday getting mail and picking clover which brings me to my idea… how about contestents take a photo of some wild or garden flower, and then stitch-up some version of that flower with the scrap materials. That way you can easily judge by 2 photo submissions (real flower, material flower).
Good luck!
Happy Birthday (belated) Heather! My best suggestion for a giveaway idea is “What is something you’d like to sew/make but haven’t gotten up the courage to make yet?” There’s a lot I could list and I bet others could as well. Again, Happy Birthday and I love the new collection!
Leah
Happy Birthday!
How about …. “Funny Craft or Sewing Story”
Hi Heather…
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog…I check it quite frequently! Happy Birthday to you!!! Tomorrow is my son’s 9th birthday so you two have something in common. As far as a contest goes…how about favorite colorful receipe or maybe even a colorful apron contest. Sound good? Maybe not but worth a try!
Happy day to you!!
Hi, Heather! My suggestion for a contest would be for people to write in about the favorite handmade gift that they’ve ever been given, or the favorite handmade item that has been handed down to them…and why they love it so much.
HaPPy BirThdaY!!!
Your blog is so cute! I just love it! What amazing ideas you have. Maybe those who sign up for your blog’s feed could be a contest. =)
Happy Birthday! I have a BIG birthday coming up later this month. My suggestion for a contest is the best/ most unusual place you find inspiration. Or unusual uses for common things in your crafting
Heather-
Happy Birthday! How about asking people what objects they have creatively refurbished and given new life to? I love seeing those ideas!
happy….happy…BIRTHDAY!! Love giveaways…meg
Happy Birthday, Heather!! How ’bout we see who has made the coolest/most beautiful/etc. item from your fabric lines? Or maybe issue a deadline and have them do it within x amount of time.
Hi Heather,
Happy Birthday! As I sit here holding my newborn, and typing with one hand (and one finger)I have a contest idea of
“Wonderful ways to love and cherish your child”
Think of all the great ideas that would be shared and all the love that could be generated!
Blessings
Katheryn Bieber
Hi Heather, Happy Birthday…I turn 30 tomorrow!! My idea for a contest is to have people submit their dorkiest hair pictures and the winner would recieve some trash ties to help her spruce it up!! Kathy
how about the best ways to organize your fabric and craft stash? I could seriously use good ideas!
Happy birthday! Those brooches are just beautiful, as is everything else you create!
http://jerseygirlgenius.typepad.com/
Sorry I didn’t read all the entries before me but my little one is stirring and about to wake from her nap. Happiest birthday to you from a family who believes birthdays should last all month long…
As for your next giveaway “What is the quirkiest item in you sewing room/studio/craft area and why is it there?” Or Favorite item. Or most sentimental. Again, appologies if someone already submitted the idea. Oh there it is “Mama”….
the flowers are too cute
and a gift card to your shop is the giveaway I am dying to see
Someone has probably already submitted this, but as I was thinking about your ‘contest ideas’ a smile came to my face as I thought about the project I made in grade 10 sewing that did not at all turn out how I had envisioned, so…how about the worst or most hideous project you have ever created? Just a thought. PS-Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Heather! Hope it was a good one!
It seems you like to have something to chuckle about for your giveaways :), so how about a ‘Kid’s say the darndest things’ or just plain funny kid’s stories. My son is always making me laugh, and I love hearing and reading about the hilarious kids people know. It would be a fun read for all!
Have a great and special day!
Hope you had a fab birthday! I would love to see a giveaway for favorite back to school quick, easy, and healthy breakfasts (something I’m struggling with in the creative area this week!)
Happy late birthday! I liked the idea of best use of scraps contest, or in honor of birthdays, best handmade gift you ever gave or received (doesn’t have to be sewn)
I absolutely love your designs, keep up the good work
Happy Birthay Heather! I hope you enjoyed your day!
I love your blog and check in regularly to see your newest creative endeavors. You inspire me. What fun to learn that we share a birthday! Mine is August 12, as well. Hope you had a simply perfect day.
Love the flower pic’s bright and beautiful – how about a giveaway based on “Who do you think is the brightest fabric designer”.
*Belated birthday wishes to you!*
*Oh, a giveaway idea? How about you dare everyone to make their own fleur debris brooch & post a photo of themselves wearing it in a fashionable way? That would be quite a challenge, but fun, I think!*
Happy Birthday – what about a contest to see what different ways people can use La Fleur Debris?? On bags, as brooches, wrappings…..endless possibilities.
Happy Belated Birthday! I love coming to your blog because I find the whole set-up uplifting and so inspiring. Keep up the good work!
As for a contest idea, how about having people write what would be their birthday wish if tey had to make one right now. Or having them write about a wish they remember making as a kid. I would imagine that some of those responses would be quite humorous.
Anyways, hope you la-di-da’d your heart’s content yesterday. Best Wishes!
Happy Birthday! I can’t wait for my patterns to come! Now I wish I had waited so I could get the brooch pattern.
My son turned 2 today. Hubby’s was the 2nd. August is a great month for birthdays!
Hope you had a great day!
Happy Birthday!!!! I think some sort of Trash Ties “hair-do’s” from readers contest????? Submit pictures of their own Trash Ties hair-do creations? Hmmmmm? Anyway…..Hope you have a great day!!! Enjoy your time with the family! Many blessings to you and yours!
Warmly,
Leslie G.
Happy Birthday! And congrats on the new store. Can’t wait to get my order, although I missed out on the adorable fabric flowers. I placed my order a few days ago.
Pincushions or stuffed fruit! I love them! I don’t think I could bare to put pins in them. They’re too pretty. Happy Birthday!
Your contest could be something totally random like who can make the most words out of “Heather Bailey” or something similar. Maybe use “Freshcut and Pop Garden.”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! It looks as though you only get better, way better, each year!
Maybe it’s already been said, but how about having us tell you the best gift that we have ever given….either homemade or storebought.
Or in honor of school starting and the end of summer we could share a favorite summer memory or back to school tradition. Happy Birthday….I hope it was fabulous!
happy birthday!for the giveaway idea, how about posting a birthday picture? 🙂
Since you decided to do nothing on your birthday (a very luxurious idea, by the way, parenthetically), how about a contest where everyone submits their Best Birthday ever. I always loved that flower on your daughter’s jacket. Did you make the jacket too?
happy birthday! your work is beautiful!!
Happy Birthday! My birthday is August 12, too! Happy birthday to others who share this birth date, too!
Your blog is a GIFT every day!
“Mieux vaut tard que jamais” as we say in french… so Happy birthday !!!
Happy Birthday. I just discovered your blog and I love the look, so bright and cheery. Just like your fabrics. Hope you had a great day. Sorry no great suggestions for a contest.
Happy Birthday! I don’t know if someone said this already, but how about a having a give away where people submit their ideas for how to use fabric in an untraditional way (not quilt, clothes, or pillows, etc.)? For instance, wouldn’t your fabric make a great accent wall covering?! It can be done with a little starch & water “paste”….
Happy birthday! This has been such a big year for you. Congrats on your awesome new store! What about asking about the strangest birthday gift or favorite birthday cake or earliest birthday memory or craziest birthday party…something birthday related in honor of your birthday. 🙂
I just stumbled upon your blog and I think it’s my new FAVE! You’ve got so many fun fabrics, ideas, projects, etc.! I’ve just started sewing and hope to one day be as creative as you are. Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday Heather. How about best place you’ve ever spent your birthday? Or favourite colour combination – with a link to a picture with these colours on their blog as an added bonus point.
Happy Birthday, Heather! I just ordered one of your strawberry pincushion kits, and can’t wait to receive it!
I think a contest about using something recycled or found or thrifted to make something beautiful would be neat. Your flowers are so beautiful. I love it that you are using scraps that would otherwise be tossed.
In any case, hope your celebration is very festive!
I think you should have a reverse giveaway, where everyone sends YOU something. 🙂
Happy Birthday!
Happy belated birthday, hope you had a wonderful plan free day! How about a contest where people show things they made that turned out nothing like they had originally planned. Sometimes the best things in life are those we can’t plan for!
Just wanted to wish you a happy birthday!
Happy B-day. I love your new paper line as well as the fabrics!!! They are gorgeous!
Ideas for giveaways:
1. Best Surprise(Theme) B-day party ever
2. How did you learn to sew and who taught U?
(This one could have a lot of emotion if
your teacher/Grandmother has passed away)
3. Favorite number and why? or best age?
4. Links to best place to gift shop.
5. Ideas for Birthday slogans/greeting cards (words only)
6. Most embarrassing moment ever.
I’d like to list as many ideas as how old you are, but I don’t know how old you are so six is my limit. Best Wishes to you and your new on-line business. AZfan
happy b’day to you !!!
joyeux anniversaire !!!
I love so much your blog and your fabric
greetings from Paris, France
Happy birthday Heather! I just love those flowers…how darling they would look on my daughter’s clothes! So my idea would be what is the most clever child’s halloween costume you have seen or made. xo Shannon
Happy birthday Heather! I just love those flowers…how darling they would look on my daughter’s clothes! So my idea would be what is the most clever child’s halloween costume you have seen or made. xo Shannon
How about, describe the most terrible prom or bridesmaid’s dress you’ve ever worn. Or at least, biggest fashion victim moment. I know I’ve got some doozies, and it’s always fun to hear about big hair and bigger party dresses.
Happy late birthday!
I printed out the picture of the fabric flower, the first time you posted it. I even bought the materials, but I never did get to it. That sweet orange and pink flower on the coat is very charming.
I think a fun idea for a contest…What do you do that always brightens your day!
Thank you for finally making the apron pattern available, I ordered one….and think a little flower would be great to pin right on it!
So, I’m new to your blog, and so aggrievated I missed your give away. But I trust there will be others, so I’ll be patient. Happy belated Birthday, and I think you should do a contest describing your biggest sewing blunder. Wonder if anyone would have one as bad as Denise on the Cosby Show?!
I’ll just try and be one of the lucky ones.
I’m so glad you didn’t ask for another embarrassing story. I can’t believed I actually shared mine on the internet-yikes!
Peace, continued success and many blessings to you on your birthday!
The best birthday they ever had and why.
Happy Birthday!!
happy happy! hope you enjoy your day. i haven’t read thru all the comments so i don’t know if this has been posted or not but how bout asking what’s the strangest thing you’ve ever used in your art…..ex: i ran across a site where this guy used discarded false teeth.
Happy Birthday! how about biggest woops in sewing/crafting
I have thought long and hard about this…(can’t you tell)!
Comments on…design ideas and you will make it! Fab idea! LOL
Rachel
Happy Birthday Heather!
I love your little flowers but I am out of idea’s after reading all of these…I had a couple but they were already spoken above.
I am a big fan of your fabric, too.
Happy Birthday! My comment didn’t post. I always have problems with those codes at the end. Guess I am getting old…geez!
How about choose one of the free patterns on your site for people to make. The best one will win the one you made…
Happy belated birthday. How about having people tell you their favorite thing they made/want to make using your fabric.
Oh my, two days late to place an order in hopes of getting the pattern – strike one. Three days late of having already put in an order on line so too late for the flower pattern insert – strike two. one last chance to receive an already made flower – I’ll take it! pick me, pick me LindaSonia (baddabinda@yahoo.com)…
Largest stash? Competition would be fierce for that one. Photo evidence required.
A contest idea…what was the story behind the Best homemade birthday present you ever received.
Happy Birthday to you!
First of all—happy birthday!
I think it would be fun to see photos of people wearing the pins at different parties/events that are offbeat. Maybe even having the winners
agree to send in photos of them wearing it.
just a thought!
Hello Heather and Happy Birthday! My Birthday is Aug 15! So, your post caught my eye along with that adorable flower the La fleur debris darling little flower! I placed my fabric order about a week ago, I probably won’t qualify for the free pattern, but I sure enjoyed looking at it.
How about a contest for things made from scraps from the trash next to your sewing machine? Or ,ideas for Christmas things to sew with your new fabrics? Love the site, look at it daily! You are a breath of fresh air.
I have the best idea, I have used this occasionally at work in different groups and it is always a hit. People should tell you their best “Brush with Fame.” This turns into people describing times they have met “famous” people, or ran into them in the airport or eve ngotten an autograph. The funniest thing is listening to the people some consider famous
happy birthday! love your site and your fabrics and projects! i think your contest should be one in which people describe the best thing that they ever gave away to another person.
Happy Birth, 21 again!
I reckon a great idea for a giveaway would be the “most beloved item your dog has chewed up”, having puppies I’m sure you can relate.
My dog Cosmo chewed up my red wedding shoes the day before the wedding. Literally. I had spent hours gluing on sequins, ala Dorothy in THe Wizard of OZ, only to find a trail of slobbery leather and sequins leading to the guilty party.
Panic would be an understatement.
(we no longer have the beagle, we donated her to work for Customs at Sydney airport and may she have a long and happy life on the other side of Australia from me!)
Happy Birthday!!!! What beautiful flowers!!! I love finding new ways to use up left over fabric.
I am sorry I forgot to wish you a wonderful birthday.. I am sure it was memorable.. I did see the little flower on the coat of the sweet little girl in the sewing side bar.. Sweet..
Again, keep celebrating life, it has been good to you………
Magy
have a beautiful birthday. i always think you should give away some fabric. that seems to get people excited!
Hope your birthday was great! (I think I’m a bit late at this point). I have to say that I love the Material Girls shop in WJ…and was able to check our your new line the other day. So cute! Also I made some placemats the other day using some of your freshcut fabric and they turned out so adorable that I want to make more. They match my plates so well. Anyway, I am loving your designs!! Hmm as far as a giveaway idea I think you should giveaway maybe some fat quarters of your new line a day before they come out…is that allowed?! Anyway, the flower pins of course are darling too. I love looking! Keep up the good work!!
Well I think it should be birthday oriented. So my suggestions would be to post your most memorable birthday story. It can be about your own or someone elses.
Hi Heather,
I am fairly new to your blog….. but love it!! It puts a huge smile on my face to read what you have to say and to see all the happy colours and patterns and the great things that you do with them! I have an idea for a giveaway…… You could ask people to photograph your products or materials in different places, landmarks or on famous people, or wearing something stood next to a celebrity, or by a landmark, you’d get to see your stuff all over the world!!
Thnks for listening!
Dawn xx
How about a contest which we all share the quirkiest thing in our sewing room/craft room and why it’s there.
I would purchase a pattern for the flower if you list them in your store-they’re so dang cute!
How about a contest where we tell you what our favorite piece of jewelry is and why. Because, I want one of your lovely pins. I ordered too early to get the pattern but will it be available for purchase? Well, anyway, happy birthday. This is my anniversary and a lovely time to get married and also to have a baby but too busy to fit in much celebration! Thanks for all of your generosity to share your talents with the world. Me included!
Happy Birthday!
My suggestion is for your favourite flower story – the one you grew from seed, the most memorable bouquet you ever got, why your favourite is your fave…
Oohhhhh, I missed your birthday! And I so wanted to get a copy of the flower pin. Does it count that I made my daughter a VERY adorable apron as a shower gift from your darling fabric? I purchase your fabric from Patched Works in Elm Grove, WI. Love your blog – I guess I had better pay closer attention!
Terry
Happy Birthday, how about a sewing project that turned into debris. I am sure we have all done projects that hit the floor at one time or another.
Kim
How about a “silly tradition” giveaway. Have readers post an unusual or quirky tradition they’ve started.
Happy birthday! The flowers are lovely (thanks for the giveaway!)
As for ideas for a giveaway: hmmm… how about most unique place you have participated in a craft, fav. handmade item you received as a gift, fav. craft book, fav craft blog… most versatile craft pattern you have…
Have a great day!
Happy Birthday – as for a giveaway idea – how about asking for everyone’s worst craft disaster – we have all had one that stands out in our minds, that made us laugh, cry or both. Mine involves expesnive wool yarn and a severe allergic reaction halfway through the crochet project.
Happy birthday! How about a post-picture-of-your-favorite-crafty-item giveaway?
Hi there Heather -I hope you have a wonderfully Happy Birthday!
How about asking everyone for pictures of their favorite projects they’ve made using the smallest leftovers of your fabric ? I know I can’t part with any little scrap and have to turn them into something !
Oh, and I love the name of your flower pin too.
Oh Happy Belated birthday! Happy Dance going on in your honor!
Embarrassing photo contest!!!! It’s a must!!! Old dance Photos! Bad 80’s hair and “What was I thinking?” photo’s would be the best!!!We could upload to flicker and really get a few laughs!!
That’s my idea!!! EVERYONE has a bad photo!!!!
I have a contest idea – craziest thing you have ever sewn/created…
Happy Birthday!
Missy
I think you should just find your favorite comment and send them something. You have inspired me for the last year and i would be greatful for anything that I won from you. I admire you.
Happy Birthday! Your blog is so bright and refreshing – thank you for sharing so much with your adoring fans. How about a post about your child’s best crafty creation? Or not just your child’s but a beloved child’s best crafty creation.
Happy Birthday to you…Happy Birthday to you…Happy Birthday dear Heather…Happy Birthday to you!
As for the give-a-way idea, how about a “Why do you keep reading?” contest. With over 400 comments, you must have tapped into something special. I’d think it would be great fun and very educational to know why readers return day after day, week after week. 🙂
No clever ideas but Happy Birthday! What a lovely site you’ve created. I can’t wait to dive in.
I love your blog! You are informative and very witty, too! Your pictures of these crafts are wonderful, too. Informative and entertaining is what I like to see in blogs.
Oh, and belated Happy, Birthday, too!
I’m curious, do you market your blog by writing articles? If so, I would VERY MUCH like to have you as one of our distinguished authors! Our Arts category is a little thin, so I am out activley recruiting today. I hope you don’t mind. But I think your talents should be shared and I would love to have you join us!
My best to you!
Happy Birthday Heather!!!!! May many showers of love sprinkle down on you all day!
I think you are a very special lady and thank you for all the bright and cheerfulness you bring to other’s!
With that being said, what if we had a contest to make something for a special someone who could use a surprise, gift, attention or just an “I was thinking of you” and we could post about what we made, how we presented this present to the person, and how wonderful it made us feel! And the most created idea/handmade item will win 🙂
Have a fabulous birthday!
Happy Birthday! The fleurs are tres bien! Please enter me in the contest. Teah
Happy Birthday Heather! Hope it was a good one 🙂
wow, I´m out of words. So beautiful. Smashing handcraft I´d say. I really want one for my birthday!!!
Hege
Happy Birthday Heather!!! Those flowers are darling! Have a fab celebration! 🙂
Happy belated Birthday!! Love the new store – any idea when you’ll have a selection of fat quarters posted?
I’d love to find out where everyone gets their inspiration to sew, craft and lead artful lives! Maybe you could ask people to share their stories of personal inspiration?
Warm wishes on your special day…I hope you la-di-da it up right!
Take care!
Ideas-
*Best Birthday Theme
*Best Birthday Favors
*Best Practical Joke
*Best Birthday Tradition
*Or most unusual/outrageous of any of the above
Happy birthday heather!! those flowers are just beautifullll, i absolutely love everything that you do!
here’s my idea, don’t know if it’s very good…
-The funniest thing you have ever witnessed
You should ask people the worst outfit they’ve ever worn…something they thought was cool at the time, but is definitely NOT cool now. 🙂
Happy Birthday! 🙂
How about a giveaway inspired by Birthday’s, like what was the most creative thing you ever did for someone or had done for you on your Birthday.
Cheers!
Mary
I came across your blog one day (searching for headband patterns, I think) and have since “blog stalked” you. I think you’re beautiful and uber-talented. You absolutely inspire me. I don’t generally leave comments for my blog-stalkees, but I wanted to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Try to relax. You deserve it!
Happy (belated) birthday, Heather! I hope it was fanstastic!
My idea for a giveaway…how about the weirdest crafting injury you’ve ever inflicted upon yourself?
Happy Birthday, Heather! I’m glad you gave the explanation of the flower ‘cuz I was wondering “what the heck” – lol.
Um, I’m thinking…idea for giveaway. How about the goofiest outfit you ever wore, but thought you were the cat’s pajamas? I know I have one! oh lord.
a very beautiful flower ! happy birthday ! Bon anniversaire !
Hi, I love all your things, I wish, wish, wish you would do a “trash tie” giveaway at some point. Me and my two daughters are dying to try them. We just worry that they will not hold our hair. We have very thick hair.
They just look so cool!!!!!!!!
i love when creative people are given the same of something, whether it’s fabric, dimensions, or paper, etc. and the variations that can be achieved within limitations.
now if this was to see what could be done with the lovely flowers, how about “bloom where you are planted” one of my favorite phrases. the most creative placement/photo of a flower.
happy birthday!
This is a first time visit to your blog! It is beautiful, wow!!! You are so talented!
I think that the giveaway could be based on describing the most special HANDMADE item you ever received for a gift and why.
happy birthday!
have us post pics of kids eating birthday cake. that’s something most everyone has, and will be also be some good for some laughs.
hi heather. i love your blog, it always give me so much inspiration!! Thats way i wanted to give you som apriciasion on my blog – i just love yours=)
xx e
i’m putting my vote in for best handmade gift ever recieved. happy birthday.
I’m plum out of ideas. But I wanted to wish you happy birthday any way! Enjoy the time until the next!
Happy Birthday Heather. I’m using Pop Garden to decorate my living room. I’ll let you know when it is done so you can take a peak on my blog if you have time. You have so much talent that it inspires people everywhere.
In floral industry (well at least at the flower shops I’ve worked in) they refer to un-named, un-remembered, or random flowers as “road-sidea” (meaning found on the side of the road). Similar to your La Fleur Debris. I think it’s FANTABULOUS! So I think you should have a contest for us all to make our own La Fleur Debris of the Road-Sidea variation. I bet you get some pretty good subcategorized fleurs. :o)
hmmm…contests… how bout funniest crafting injury?
Have a contest for those who use your fabrics. Best creation wins. 🙂
Jennifer
What would you make for the First Lady?
Love your blog.
A contest: What is the wildest adventure you have ever had in/with/around a Heather Bailey fabric?
What else can be made out of Fleur Debris? I am sure there are loads of discussions on this topic! That’s my vote!
I love, love, love this b-e-a-utiful pattern for these b-e-a-utiful flowers! If I don’t win, where could I find such a treasure?
Happy Birthday!
What about a contest where people say the strangest thing/place/person/moment that has inspired a new design or piece of art?
LOL, ‘fleur debris’ – how utterly perfect 🙂 I don’t know, my idea of the best giveaway would be a visit to your studio, or a class with your geniousness … I guess the next best thing would be a package of your new fabrics to play with. Congrats on the launch of your new line!
Happy Birthday!!! You deserve a day off. That is a gift. :)Your Fleurs are stunning.
How about you have to post a picture of a pretty flower (either photography or one you crafted)
how about name my next fabric line???
or maybe one fabric.;0)

I was thinking the other day about moments in my life where someone had done something so nice for me that it made me cry.
So how about that for a giveaway contest?
Question:
WHAT”S THE MOST TOUCHING, NICEST THiNG SOMEONE HAS EVER DONE FOR YOU?
I love everything about this blog, It is just so pretty to look at and inspirational.

Happy Birthday Heather! I love love LOVE your Fluer Debris! My idea for your next contest is to hold a scrapbook challenge using your new paper line….I didn’t read the hundreds of other comments, so it may have already been said…a twist on the scrapbook contest would be a layout that included your paper AND some of your fabric AND a Trash Tie! (Just kidding about the Trash Tie, but really, it might be COOL!).
ENJOY YOUR BIRTHDAY WEEK! (Month?)
No ideas for a contest but lots of wishes for a smashing BDay!

H
Most of my ideas are already taken… such a popular blog you have! So… I will just say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope it is a relaxing one!
Happy birthday!
Happy Belated Birthday – I hope the plan-no plan worked out just as you had, um, planned.
Your flowers are beautiful! As for a birthday give-away, what about giving away a guest host spot on the blog – ie the winning guest blogger gets a chance to remember or repost their favorite posts from your archive – sort of like a “best of” as chosen by the winning reader.
Best wishes for a wonderful year!

Thanks for adding the new information, as well as your analysis. This is why your blog is one of the few I read that I also ever bother to comment on. I don’t do it to hear myself talk – I do it because I know you actually listen.
