The patterns
are finally in & they’re gorgeous! Our printer had trouble with
their folding machine, and knowing we were anxious to ship them, they
thoughtfully farmed out the rest of the pattern-folding to another
print house so we wouldn’t have to wait for them to receive a
replacement part.
So there would be no delay, my father & I drove out to
this other printer around 10pm on Friday night to pick everything up so
the pattern stuffing could happen over the weekend. This new place was
kind to fit my pattern-folding into their schedule on short notice (no
notice, really) — and then let us come by in the middle of the night
to get them. Cheers & applause. While there, we got the 15-minute tour, Mister-Rogers style. I love machines. Folding, gluing, binding, collating, clean-cutting, kiss-cutting.
Our printer did a wonderful job though. I can’t wait for you to
see. All orders with patterns included can now be processed – hooray!
(On that note, thank you early birds
for placing pre-orders, knowing they wouldn’t ship out immediately.
Thank you for your confidence and patience. Processing early bird
orders all at once is allowing us to best perfect our new shipping
& fulfillment systems. And it’s going really well. We should be
all caught up soon and back to the super-fast turnaround you’re used
to)

So then, on top of this excitement, my assistant, Tara,
decided last weekend to get married next weekend! Now, after being
engaged for three years and taking the wedding plans kinda easy,
everything’s suddenly all-a-bustle. We’re super excited for her. When I mentioned her engagement before,
she was thinking end-of-September/ beginning-of-October and I was going
to see what ideas you had for her. Now there’s not much time for
idea-gathering. It’s fun to see it all coming together so well — and
in such little time. Her mom & grandma have really jumped
onboard. It’ll be a small, intimate wedding — maybe 20 guests.
Dramatic red flowers, B & W floral print tablecloths, I think (tres
chic!). I’m sure it will be beautiful — I’ll share photos.

And Isaac’s just returning tonight from photographing a wedding for Kathy Miller‘s stepson, Alex. (His new bride, Aseem, is a writer for the tv show, Scrubs.) I hear it was breathtaking
— a traditional Indian wedding — with tents, saris, henna tatoos, and
fabulously rich colors. I can’t wait to see the photos. I’ll share
those too.
(The wedding photos shown above are from Kara Peterson in Las Vegas. Kara used a Freshcut print
as her centerpoint in decorating the Utah County Courthouse for her
November wedding last year. She sent me these photos just this week.
Good timing — with all of the wedding talk taking place over here.
Kara, what are these mini-merengue-looking treats? They look
delicious. And, did everyone get a diamond ring on top?? Now, that’s
dessert.)

I just ran into Tara at the post office today (well yesterday). She was very calm for someone getting married in 6 days!
Those wedding photos are stunning. That’s the perfect Freshcut print for a wedding (wedding finery!).
As an “early-bird”, I look forward to trying out the delicious looking strawberry kit.
Congrats.
I love the ring toy very much! It looks like a yummy big birthdaycake… delicious! 🙂
Pretty nice idea!
Woohoo, great news – I’m so excited for my pattern to arrive! I’ve already got the fabric and I’m ready to sew!
How exciting! Weddings are all around. I am a bridesmaid for my good friend in a couple of weeks. I bought the shoes the other weekend without her having seen them and went to try the dress on and show her the shoes (and give her her sister’s, maid of honour, shoes) and it all looks wonderful. Being the bridesmaid, I probably won’t get to take too many photos unfortunately.
I can’t wait to get my parcel from your shop and have fun with all the goodies I ordered!
wow how exciting to see your designs used in such a beautiful way!!
I love the bright yellow its just soo cheery and fun.
I am looking forward to getting back to my design work after a long summer of hanging with my boys.
Glad to hear the printing of the patterns went well sometimes you never know with printers. Looking forward to seeing them.
how exciting I love the yellow its soo much fun and how great they used your patterns.
I love getting stuff in the mail, it’s a holdover from childhood, I think. So I was super excited to get my pre-order in the mail last week! Hip Hip Hooray, the fabrics are just yummy, yummy in real life. Thanks for everything Heather & Co….
My little sister had her reception there too.
I was at my local fabric store with my Mom yesterday and lo and behold they finally have some Heather Bailey fabulousness in. Hip hip hooray!
What an absolutely gorgeous fabric to use for a wedding. Simply stunning! Can’t wait to see Tara’s wedding photos….
I love your post title! So cute.
You have been given the I love your blog award
Happy to hear the news about the patterns. Was wondering because I was an early bird and didn’t know that there was a pattern problem… thanks!
I loved Mister Rogers and all of his field trips showing how things are made. So does my daughter!

Aaha! I’m generally a lurker, but you say the word “weddings” and I come out of hiding! I’m a couture wedding floral designer, and it’s funny you should show photos of your fabric being used in a wedding design as I’ve lately been thinking of a few of your different designs as possible bouquet handles… The pictures above are quite lovely, I just did a yellow and green wedding in Malibu, and the color combo was just as happy as can be! 😉 Congrats to Tara…
oh, I thought the earlybirds shipped already last week! Good to know; I´ve been so excited to get my patterns, that I feel like running home every day, altough I do know it sometimes takes ages for post to arrive from states to Finland ;). So you´ll be shipping this week then?
Congratulations Tara! those wedding photos are absolutely lovely! (I normally hate the color yellow so this is a big thing for me)
I’m so excited to get my early bird order – so glad things are going well for you.
Can’t wait to get my hands on those patterns – thanks for letting us know the hold-up. That is going to be one fun mail day when it comes!
Heather,
I’m so excited to get my patterns! We’ve had lots of request for them at the shop. We just received a reorder of your fabric today!
Thanks
Nadine
the material girls quilts
I’m glad my photos arrived at just the right time!
The mini-meringues were a perfect find for our wedding– from a local bakery (Kneaders). Plastic rings on top would have been a great idea– but those are the real thing! Our photographer grabed a couple meringues to photograph our rings.
Congratulations Tara, best of luck with the speedy planning.
Ah, yellow. So cheery. and what a great idea to use your print where she did. It seems weddings bring out the creative streak in almost everybody. I love seeing ideas from someone else’s mind…you can learn so much.
Thanks for sharing!
Yay, the patterns are coming, the patterns are coming! I can’t believe what you went through to get them finished, though. Ugh! Thank you for doing all that for us. Congrats to Tara on the upcoming wedding. Sounds lovely.
Thanks for the heads up. I am extremely excited to get my patterns and start working on Christmas gifts.
Wha?! Your circle of friends in amazing. I would SO love to know these people…and you……
And your mother in law was just here in my hometown at the same time I was OUT of town. CURSES!
Congrats on the web store and patterns and “going live.” Very very cool.
Yes! I’m so excited about receiving my order! I am being (a little) patient, because I knew this was the case. At the same time I can’t wait to get my hands on my goodies 😉 So long as they’re here by November in time for Chirstmas gift making haha.
Gorgeous wedding photos! I see Kara replied. Great idea. I’m thinking even for a party, what an ingenious idea to base the decor around a piece of fabric. Filing that idea, (and waiting for my pop garden fabric to use as the inspiration) for spring.
Any idea when the pop garden fabric will be back up in the shop? Yes I did get my hands on some early, but now I have more ideas and more I have to get 🙂
Also, I’ve asked, and pleaded and downright begged my fabric store in Nova Scotia, Canada to start carrying your lines. Do you know if there are plans to bring it to Canada? In the meantime, I’ll get to joy of ordering directly from you 🙂
April
I made a “fleur” inspired by you, posted it on my blog. I am looking to see if some local shops sell your fabric. How cool that you know the Miller’s…their stuff is GREAT. I took a class with them at one of the Creating Keepsakes Conventions. I hope the wedding goes well. Small is good!!!
I just had to chime in. I LOVE that yellow wedding with your fabric. (You know how I feel about yellow these days) Your fabric is icing on the cake 🙂
what a gorgeous wedding display!
Love your fabric Heather, keep it comin!
Lori

What a fabulous display and such a fun use of your fabric! It must be so gratifying to see how people incorporate something so special to you into their lives!
I’m so looking forward to my trip to Phoenix and teaching with your products and fabric at Melrose Vintage next week! Can you come and play, too? 🙂
Congrats Tara and I hope all the planning goes smoothly for you!
Thanks for sharing the beautiful wedding pictures. Can’t wait to see pictures from the Miller wedding!
I just looked up what episodes Aseem had written on scrubs and realized she plays Josephine too! She’s hilarious! Weddings are so marvelous!
So exciting…thanks for letting us know the delay and for keeping us desperados (for your goodies that is…) up to date…so looking forward to receiving my pear pattern…

i know you’re so incredibly busy you don’t have time for blog tag, but my “love your blog” list just wouldn’t have been complete without you. ( http://celesterockwood-jones.typepad.com/designwashrinserepeat/2008/08/love-your-blog.html ) just wanted to say thanks for sharing your talents and for the ongoing inspiration.

What beautiful colors and ideas for a wedding. I especially love the invitation! It’s almost too pretty to send out.
I love this post and all the photographs! I have looked at it too much already.
So, is it just me or was there ever a winner announced from your birthday post?
I’m another one who just found my patterns waiting when I got home from work today. Well done, Heather! I can’t wait to get started.

Hi Heather – I’m Sheba’s sister, Simone, and I’m a wedding planner here on the east coast. I absolutely love the pictures and the design, and LOVE the story about the printer! (I have had to deal with close-calls myself!)
How cute!
