    NEW Pattern! Prize Bloom Quilt

    QP001PB_PrizeBloomQuilt_470w

I have two new sewing patterns to announce this week, starting with the Prize Bloom Quilt. This three-dimensional floral design is a rewarding project. It gives you the opportunity to practice a variety of techniques (curved piecing, inset corners, appliqué), yet it is quick to sew. You complete one, large flower and a simple, pieced foundation, then put them together and you're done. Practically. There is quilting and binding as well, but those go quickly too.

QP001PB_PrizeBloomQuilt_470w3The large, dahlia-like flower is gathered at the center and a round of three-dimensional petals is added. These details draw you into the design and add depth. The cover quilt is sewn entirely from my Up Parasol fabric collection. However, there are a number of sneak peeks of my upcoming Clementine collection all through the background of the image—hint, hint

Use your quilt as a wall-hanging, a small lap quilt, or as a baby blanket. (I use mine for church. Our building is ALWAYS freezing cold. During the week, it decorates our wall on a petite curtain rod.)

The pattern includes a full-color booklet of instructions, along with a cutable pattern sheet. This is our first pattern with full-color instructions. With the petal pieces in the quilt appearing similar in contour, I felt that color illustrations would be the best way to help everyone see which pieces are which. I'm thrilled with the results.

    I hope you are too.

Prize Bloom is shipping now. Ask for this new pattern at your local sewing shop. Or order a copy online today at HeatherBaileyStore.com. A full Materials List is posted on the product page.

  • Luxury Bedding

I've come across the most luxurious baby bedding by Tushies & Tantrums. I believe I was originally tagged in an Instagram post. (Which is one of my favorite things about Instagram—getting to see what is being made with my fabric collections. Tagging is such an easy way to share.)

    LottieDaSwatchesCollage

Below is just one of the luxurious sets that Tushies & Tantrums has put together using Heather Bailey fabrics. The featured prints are those shown above, all from my Lottie Da collection: Dauphine turquoise, Lottie Dot purple, Carousel Stripe orchid, and Lottie Dot olive.

    TushiesTantrums470

I adore this Jenny-Lind style crib as well. When I was a little girl, I slept on an antique Jenny-Lind-style "slave bed" that my parents painted bright orange. They had a custom mattress made for it because it was tall enough for a man, but much more narrow than a twin bed. It is one of my regrets that I didn't rescue that bed from a garage sale they had after I left home for college. That same unsalved regret had me practically leap across the store when I found this orange bookshelf at an antique shop.

    TushiesTantrumsCrib_HeatherBailey_470

The wish to sew my daughter a dreamy crib set must have played some part in my decision to design fabric. Charlotte was nine-months old when I began the fabric branch of my career. Her bed was still outfitted in her brother's crib sheets from eight years earlier. Now, whenever I see a beautiful crib set made with my fabrics, my mama heart skips a beat. However saccharine, I feel as if I get to play a small part in nurturing your sweet little ones. And there is nothing I love more than being a mama.

If you are looking for the tip-top-best bedding for your little ones, visit the Tushies & Tantrums Etsy shop. Ashley takes custom orders as well, so compile your dream fabric-combo and get in touch. There is a "Request Custom Quote" button on the lefthand side of the Etsy shop's home page.

    Giveaway in Progress

    LottieDa_HeatherBailey

I'm popping in to let you know about a giveaway that's in the works. Gina from CampClem.com has been posting new projects made from my Lottie Da collection all week, including a fantastic little beret made from theses leftover quilt-block pieces (below).

In conjunction with her blog series, Gina is giving away a Lottie Da camera-strap cover, two Heather Bailey embroidery patterns and a collection of stationery. The Camp Clem giveaway closes this coming Sunday (9/14/14) at the end of the day, so stop by soon to enter at CampClem.com.

There are several posts in her Lottie Da series, all of which show her step-by-step process for each project:

At the studio, we're working on new patterns for this fall and prepping to share our new fashion-fabric collection, Momentum, which ships out to stores this month. I'm watching Roman Polanski's Tess (of the d'Urbervilles) from 1979 while I work today. Or rather, I'm listening to it. The film is quite good so far—you know, should you be looking for an old Jane-Austen-ish kind of film to keep you company.

    It’s Official

As I hinted last week, I'll be heading to Utah in three weeks to give the keynote address at The Sewing Summit 2013. The announcement was made yesterday on The Sewing Summit blog and throughout their social media outlets. Click on the image below to read the full article.

    SewingSummitAnnouncementC

    SewingSummitWWhat
is The Sewing Summit? As they put it, "We’re a cross between a
traditional sewing retreat and a social
media and blogging conference… With hands-on workshops, networking
    events, inspiring speakers,
informative lecture sessions and enough down-time to connect with
friends new and old—Sewing Summit is the only event of its kind. Join us
for a weekend of skill-building, networking, laughing and
    reconnecting!"

I'm excited to meet everyone and share. The event has been sold out for a while. However! They have added a handful of spaces this week. If you are interested in attending, jump on it. Just have a look at these great classes and teachers.
I hear the sewing labs will be open till 2am or so. You can sew in your
pjs with friends. Doesn't that sound dreamy? Of course, I'm a serious
    night owl.

So then, whether you're attending or not, what would you like to hear
from me at an event like this? The conference covers such diverse
topics: fashion, quilting, blogging, photography, business and more. I want to do a bang-up job for you all.

    Psst…

    SewingSummitLogo_470_02c

I may have let slip that a certain someone whose name rhymes with "feather daily" is going to be at The Sewing Summit
next month in Salt Lake City, September 19th through the 21st. The
event has been sold out for a while, but a little birdie told me that
the show coordinators are offering a handful of additional tickets for sale today, starting at 9:00am MST (maybe 30 tickets or so?).

Feather Daily thought you guys might like to know—especially after you have a look through their site and see what a remarkable event it will be. These tickets are in hot demand, so act fast if you're interested. Great teachers, great classes and an incredible variety of subjects, ranging from quilting, crafts and garment sewing to fabric design, photography and social media.

Get your calendars out, you might need to fly to Utah in a few weeks.

is THREE Heather Bailey sewing patterns—Flutterby Pincushions, Boho Cloche Hat and Marlo
