Happy Memorial Day, Americani!
I'm feeling
appropriately patriotic. If you have a chance to watch The Story of Us series on the History Channel, do.
I've watched several episodes over the last two days. It's had me
choked up on more than one occasion — the struggles and triumphs of our
country's past (and present). The series is intelligently paced. It
ties in the technological advancements of each era as well, and shows
their impact on historical events. It's just good.
So now LA
Ink is on while I type. I go high-brow, I go low-brow. I'm
strangely relating to this episode. The main tattoo chick is
interviewing for two new employees while absorbing their duties in the
meantime. I'm hiring for two positions right now too. Sorting through
resumes took an entire day by itself. Tattoo chick, I feel you.
I'm
not too busy to celebrate Memorial Day though! The BBQ brigade is
coming to our house today. We have a new backyard to christen, after
all. And it's gorgeous out. For now.
Hug a
soldier, hug a veteran, hug the free earth beneath your feet!
God
bless America.

You are SO generous, I hope you have a wonderful BBQ this Memorial Day!
Hi Heather. We are loving that series as well. Even though you learned it in school, it is so much better brought to life. Makes you proud to be an American.
Wonderful to see a patriotic message posted on your blog. So often the meaning of the holiday gets lost in the busy shuffling of life. I wonder if the History Channel series is based on the series of books by the same name? Loved reading those books with my children. Lots of photos. Have a great day!
Thank you so much for the coupon! Your felt is amazing… so I had to stock up! š
Would love to know where to see your help wanted ads.
Live local and would be interested.

Happy Memorial Day. Love the star.
I watched “America the story of us” too…loved it! I thought they could have made it a much longer series. Fascinating! Makes me wish I’d paid more attention in history class. I bet it was interesting. š
I’m glad to be reminded about that series! I think it’s based on the Joy Hakim History of US book series. The books are fantastic! They bring history to life for kids. (And adults!) Thanks!
Heather, I just got my order from you in the mail today! I blogged about it because it was the ray of sunshine in my miserable day! Thank you so much!
I will have to check out that show for sure. Hope your BBQ was wonderful! š
Hi! I was just introducted to your blog by Blair from Wild and Precious, you have a beautiful blog! So happy I found you š
Heather, I’ve enjoyed your blog for awhile now., first time to comment though.I don’t know if you receive the magazine Inc. But they just had a article on hiring that I found fascinating. I was just reminded of it when I read about you hiring.
Heather, its Shelby here, is it to late for me to send you a resume? I was serious, when I said I would love to help. Please let me know! I am not a huge blogger so I am using my mom’s. Just let me know what you need from me.
Thanks Shelby,
Wow I also watch LA ink sometime,, i think that tatoo girl chick’s name is Kat, she’s quite famous now because of the show, its nice,, it shows that being a tatooist means living a normal life also, encounter the same as we do,, We are on our own TV show, live it to the best..
This makes me sorry I missed this show on the history channel. I remember seeing it advertised, and wondering if it was at all like a former professor’s book, “The Story of Ourselves.” Somehow I never remembered to tune it at the right time to see it. I’ll have to look it up online.
I missed America Story of us:( sounds like I missed a good one! I love this post of yours and I love your poppies on top!
Thanks for the uplifting post. Yes, we all need to remember our soldiers (and their families). And, thank you, for the fun you provide with your beautiful pics and fabric.
Love the little felt badge. You always come up with something special!
I was so happy to use your latest line to make a birthday banner for my daughter. We love it so much we haven’t taken it down yet even though it is awhile since her birthday! Thank you for providing me with such lovely fabrics year after year!!!!
hugs from emily in Norway
