What a Guy!

Mrsewit

Yep, that’s Isaac at a wedding last weekend, fixing a 20" rip in the bride’s chiffon dress.

He sent me the photo and said, "Now, there’s a photo for your blog. You’ve even got me sewing."  I don’t know about that, but I am glad he’s picked up on things enough to save the day for this gal.  The rip was on the very front of the dress, right above one of those pintucks.  It started small and the bride kept her cool, but as the rip grew, so did the tension.  He sent his assistant to find a sewing kit and stitched the dress back together in the limo on the way to the church — he knotted the thread just in time for her to walk down the aisle and tie her own knot. What a guy!

Isaac’s off to WPPI next week and I’m heading to L.A. for a Trash Ties meeting – I know, I still need to tell you all about Trash Ties — soon, soon — mentioned it here, but didn’t really get into it.  Oh, and Isaac launched his new wedding photography site this week – it’s amazing!  There’s music from independent bands, video (turn off your pop-up blockers to access), slideshows, the whole tamale – and that photo on the front is breathtaking – it reminds me of Maxfield ParrishAh, to stand on a cliff at sunset with the wind in your hair, wearing silk…

  1. Ha! That’s actually my favorite thing about weddings. Things go wrong, and we have to figure out how to make them work. Great photo. An excellent addition to her wedding book.

  2. What a guy indeed! We have a picture from our wedding where our good friends – and photographers – are cleaning mud off my shoe and toes. Outdoor wedding after a week of drizzles…

  3. Isaac’s site is incredible. I adore his eye for pictures, truly captures a special image each time. Wow! I’m dually impressed that he can also mend wedding gowns!!!!!

  4. So sweet. I can’t wait to check out your husband’s site. I use to hire a lot of photographers (before kids) but I’m not sure if any of them would pick up a needle + thread 🙂

  5. He’s not just a hubby, he’s a superhero! It’s Sewing Photographer Guy! Really, his photos will be a big part of their wedding memories but sewing the bride’s dress will be legend in that family. Way cool.

  6. WOW! I wish I knew about you guys when we got married esp. since you are local. Does he do other stuff besides weddings?
That pic on the front page of his stire reminds me of the scene in Pride and Prejudice when Keira Knightley (as Elizabeth Bennett) is standing on the side of a cliff in England.
    GORGEOUS!

  7. I love that last comment – so true about the mama, I think! 😉
(Coming from a very sentimental fool, mind you), I just cried my way through his wedding slideshows! They are just stunning – every one of them a treasure to those newly married and the generations to follow them. Wonderful work, Isaac!

  11. Heather,
My word! Please do not let Isaac read these comments. I think it will go to his head. hee hee. Well, he is a great guy after all. though I would like to add a few things to this ode to Isaac post. Like the time he tied Moe to the fence and did an Indian war dance. Or how he would always win hide-and-go-seek by pelting us with almonds from the almond tree. I want a picture of that!
    love ya.

  12. Amazing photos and a beautiful site… I had to look at every wedding! The music really adds to the show. These brides must be over the moon about the shots… so very special.

  14. How amazing is this? I come to your blog for gorgeous photos and inspiration, and you send me to Isaac’s website…after looking around a bit, I find a photo of my faraway friend and her fiance! I had no idea Isaac had done their engagement photo, and it was so wonderful to see them looking so gorgeous. Thanks for the link, Heather!

  16. I, like Amanda above, cried my way through the wedding photos. The music just fit so well with the pictures. I happen to be having quite an emotional pregancy, so that’s probably why I cried, but they are so beautiful, I may have even if I weren’t pregnant 🙂 What a talented family you have!

  17. The photographer at our wedding always carried a sewing kit! She’d had this happen on quite a few occassions! What a great photo though!

  18. Hands down, the most beautiful wedding photography I have ever seen. If only I were getting married now instead of 11 years ago!

  19. Amazing! Let me guess…he’s a good cook too?!
You guys better not move because our daughters will be getting married before long and I won’t settle for any other photographer.

  20. OMG! Can I just live there? I mean, IN that new website of Issac’s? Absolutely gorgeous and the music is the icing on the cake!

  21. Wow! How cool is that?! I’ll tell you, it’s pretty cool, that’s what! It’s one thing to know how to stitch here and there, but a 20 inch rip, in a wedding dress?!?! Now that’s a guy for you! Sheesh.

  22. those pictures are awesome! And I really love the music… is there somewhere on his site that he lists the bands?

  23. Oh my, stunning and so filled with warmth and joy! My Daughter just came home from Paris engaged. Wedding plans are beginning and now I am trying to figure out how to add Isaac to the budget..its not that far to So California!
