Stripped Teaser

It’s Saturday!  And I’m determined to spend a good part of my day outside.  I’m either going to prune the rose bushes or clear out the garden to prep it for planting.  It’s stormy outside, so we’ll see how it goes.

Stripping_Table_Legs

Isaac is finishing up two big tables for the studio.  (The same ones I mentioned last year.  You know how that goes.  They are looking awesome though!)  After having at these reclaimed table legs with a palm sander for a while this morning (above), he gave up and purchased an orbital sander.  This has made a huge difference, especially with the deep, turned contours at the top and bottom of each leg.  The palm sander wasn’t working too well on the rounded surfaces.

The rest of the table parts he has built from scratch and everything is ready for assembly.  These tables are HUGE and I can’t wait to spread projects out all over them.  I might have to try them out for napping as well.  They are that big.

What are you up to today?  With the way the wind is blowing outside, I might be baking cookies and crocheting granny squares by nightfall.  Cold-weather activities sound equally appealing.

  1. I can’t wait to see how these turned out! I spent the morning at a local fabric store to pick up a couple of Nicey Jane fat quarters. I’m working on a big, king sized quilt with them!

  2. I’m loving those legs and can’t wait to see photo’s of your finished tables in the studio! You have an amazing man and you both work as a great team. 🙂

  3. great legs… (not something I hear every day!)
I spent all day in the garden (despite the greyness)decorated my bird table and planted window boxes on the workshop – all ready for spring.
Also introduced our rescue chickens to the rest of the brood – so far so good…fee x

  4. It is raining in northern California, so it indoor activities for us. Knitting, movies, (bill paying for my husband…), etc.

  5. Lexi, thank you for your kind plea!
I’ve spent a lot of time training new employees and working with new licensees this year. There is a lot going on behind the scenes that I can’t talk about till products are closer to hitting the shelves. It’s frustrating not to share what I have been up to. There will be lots of new things out soon, I promise. And yes, of course, new fabric!
Here’s what I can announce in regards to fabric: I have a home decor fabric line coming out in the next 2-3 months or so, followed by cotton flannels, more laminated cottons and a few fleeces. Then, soon after that, will be the next quilt/craft cotton line which I’m finishing up designs for right now. After that, collections should be coming out more frequently, twice a year or so.

  6. Hi Heather, I’m loving this rainy cloudy day here in Phoenix, it reminds me of my home state of Washington. My husband and I will be joining my parents tonight for fish and chips, also very Seattle like. I like the way your table legs are looking, very weathered. You are so blessed to have a hubby that helps you with so much, I do too 🙂 -Sarah

  7. Nice to read about your project Heather, and to see that you got the orbital sander from Toolstop. I hope it works well for you for a long time, it should do, it’s a Makita.

  8. What’s that I hear?? New fabric coming out?? WOOT! I am in the midst of using your fabulous Pop Garden fabric for decorating an outdoor room in my garage/hangout. Pillows, throws, signs etc. If you care to have a looky loo it will be in soon-to-be posted entries on my blog. I just love your creative mind!

  9. Art…talking about it is like a life for me. Thank you, I also do art sketches and designing but if you really want to last long in that field you make sure that your body is still in fit. thank you…
