Charlotte started 1st grade today. Elijah starts high school on Wednesday. With their schedules & activities, my own work obligations, and a newborn to juggle, we will be ping-ponging all over town this year. I’m counting on the crock pot for help. And I’ll be baking grab-n-go goodies on the weekends. Yesterday, I made Sour Cherry Muffins. I thought 2 dozen would get us somewhere — but they are no more — devoured in a day.
That’s a teenage boy.
… and a pregnant woman.
… and a sugar-obsessed child.
… and a man.
— and two dogs sweeping up crumbs.
I was planning to snap a photo & post my recipe, but it looks like I’ll have to bake 4 dozen in order to pull that off. Maybe next week.
Everything is “maybe” right now. “Maybe I’ll be there.” “Maybe I can do that for you.” “Maybe I’ll make muffins this Sunday.” I sound so wishy-washy. The fact is, I’m 36 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Elijah was born at 36 weeks on the nose and Charlotte was born at 37.5 weeks. I can’t commit to anything much for a while.
Any day now! Or, then again, maybe in a few weeks.
All of my cuteness efforts are going into accessories at this point. Flashy, distracting bags & purses. Headbands, earrings, necklaces — all at the same time. Colorful shoes. (Ignore the billowing pudge of my swollen left foot escaping the confines of my unsensible shoe. Strangely, it’s just my left leg that swells.)
My belly precedes me. Not only does my colorful new thermos make me feel better about the gallons of water I have to drink in order to keep up with this baby AND the 113-degree weather — it is yet another loud-and-lovely accessory to wave in front of my stomach when I’m out and about — a colorful diversion for the well-intending stares that follow a pregnant woman everywhere.
So that’s the pregnancy update — and the business news — all mushed together. Check out my new travel mugs! Just in from my licensing partner, Inviting Company. Five designs. Stainless steel. Awesome.

Good luck with your last bit of pregnancy! I can sympathize…37 weeks tomorrow…Vegas heat…and my babies tend to like to “over bake!”
Good Luck. I am very excited for you
Long time follower and fan of all you do (nicey jane = swoon!) and I have a feeling that if anyone can pull a little something out of her hat (or belly!) it’s you!
Good luck!
Good luck! Can’t wait to get that recipe.. it sounds delicious!
Pregnant and heat just should never mix!
I was thinking about you the other evening. I’ve dug out some of your fabric from a couple collections ago. I’m ready to cut it up and put it back together again for my daughter and her partner’s new home together.
36 weeks already! wow has that gone really fast or did you keep a secret for ages (from memory you kept it secret!) Best wishes for the coming weeks x
Started my first job outside the home in 20 years today – and I loved it. I’ll be needing a travel mug and think I know what my first paycheck is getting now!
So may wonderful things on your plate! As a mom of twins who only made it in the oven ’til 27 weeks before the surprise arrival, let him/her bake!! Congrats!
well, hope the air conditioning is cranked up in your house these next few weeks. The humidity today was awful! Hope you have a sweet healthy baby here soon!
p.s. just posted an EASY (& tasty) crock pot pork recipe if you are interested.
ooh – maybe you’ll have the baby on your birthday (I always remember when it is cause it’s one day before mine :-). And yes, I’m hitting the crockpot meals too..soccer season is in full force here. Congrats on the new mugs – they are gorgeous!
Hang in there Mama!! My first was born at 37.3, second 38.2, third 39.1….I hope you don’t have a similar pattern!! 🙂 Remember you are not pregnant for 9 months, but 8 months and a year!!!
Aww…I can’t wait to hear all about your newest little one! I know that you didn’t announce the pregnancy until later on but it seems like it went by so fast. I am sure you are NOT thinking that being that you were pregnant during the summer! 🙂
And, I so feel you in the town touring every day in order to taxi the kiddos around. My oldest is also starting high school this year and my second child is starting kindergarten. My youngest child is 3 and will be getting the town tour whether he likes it or not! With all of this traveling around town, I ordered one of your travel mugs a few days ago and received it today! I can’t wait to use it, it’s so darn cute!!
Sending you happy thoughts and special prayers during your last days or weeks of pregnancy!
We’ll be touring twins, Mary. High school, elementary, baby/toddler in the back — and a cute mug for mom.
Congratulations to Charlotte 🙂
I totally understand what you are feeling right now! I am only one and half weeks behind you in my pregnancy and every day I feel like I scratch more and more off my to-do list just because I simply cannot do it, and your right, everything is a “maybe”. I have two daughters who are even more ready for mommy to be done with this pregnancy than I am! They keep saying “It takes too long for the baby to come out!”. LOL I am decorating a little bit of the baby’s nursery in your gorgeous fabrics, btw! Good luck to you and I can’t wait to see cute pictures of your new little one!!
I can sympathize with you. 33 weeks here. I get the stares and “you are ready to pop” and “are you sure there’s only one in there” comments every time I go out. I am just huge, thanks to having twins previously (at least that is what I keep telling myself). Thankfully the heat has broke, at least for the next few days here. I can venture out without overheating the second I step out the door. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!
love the travel mug! Enjoy your last few days or weeks of pregnancy!
SWEET! 😉 Good luck. 🙂 Im also starting Highschool at the end of this month so we’ll see how that goes. 😉
Totally feel your pain! Although my new hospital & doctor will only do a c-section, so the “surprise” will only be if she decides to come early. Otherwise, we’re scheduled for surgery and I’m a little under a week behind you! Yikes!
Do what you can and don’t worry about everything else. =D
Eeek! Keep that babe cooking just a little bit longer. I’ve had all of mine early too (37 weeks, 36, and 35– that 35 week-er was scary!) but have never had to brave those triple digit temps. Hang in there!!
Best~
Kim
p.s. baby #4 is on the way here! It’s a girl and I’m campaigning for the name Charlotte. 😉
I bet you don’t need an ounce of distraction to be a radiantly glowing (and not just from the heat) pregnant girlie! I hope the rest of your pregnancy is wonderful- and that NEITHER of your legs swell!
CRAZY cute travel mugs!!!!
Love the mugs, Heather! Good luck with the baby.
Happy birthday! Safe pregnancy ways to cool off….tea in a spritzer bottle kept in the fridge (doubles as a sunburn soother) and flax seeds in a muslin bag. (You can keep in in the freezer…it cool the back of your neck and can help sore shoulders relax. OR you can use it as an eye pillow.
Happy Birthday-
First of all don’t stress everything will workout and your baby will have a place in your home even if it is rocky for a while. When we first had our son who is now 21 months we lived in a small two bedroom apartment my husband worked from home and then a baby boy who needed a space too but it all worked out fine.
on a funnier note I know it has been a while with your oldest boy being a teenager sense you had to deal with changing a newborn boys diaper. Can we just say Pee Pee tepee any how about a week into motherhood I was changing my son on our bed and all of a sudden he was peeing every where and I was so socked that it took me a few seconds before I realized I needed to cover him. By the end there was pee all over our bed our pillows and myself. My husband helped a lot by running into the room with the camera and started taking pictures because he thought it was so funny. The wost part was the apartment we were living in didn’t have washers and dryers so we had to be very creative with our sleeping arrangements that night. So my best advice is to remember to keep that boy covered with a wipe or something good luck.
Happy Birthday
I’m loving this happy, bright place! Your designs are wonderful! I’ll be back soon. 🙂
that beautiful fabric in the background…. is that from your new collection?
All the best for your upcoming delivery of a baby. God bless.
