My son is 13 today. Thirteen! What in the world? I was such a little grown-up at thirteen. At least, I thought I was.
have been extra busy this month. Isaac has built a wall to divide the
main floor of my new office, allowing pattern storage to be neatly
hidden away — and allowing the main work area to be cute-ified. I
don't know when I'll get around to that cute-ification, but it now has
the potential, which is a start.
I have successfully ignored the
move in order to wrap up some pressing projects. A serious feat. It
looks like I have one more week to go. Next time I make my way up
there, I'll snap a photo of the new wall. It was a lot of work and is
just about finished. There is a lot more work to do, but it will have
to be gradual. With Nicey Jane new on the market and several new
patterns popping, we're extra busy behind the scenes.
On a
personal note, I purchased some cool, mid-century modern chairs today.
They need refinishing and new upholstery, but I can do that. If it
weren't for birthday dinner & birthday baking, I'd be out sanding
them this evening. Perhaps tomorrow.
which means more blogging. I can't seem to get comfortable posting
without including photos. Case in point, the photos in this post. They
don't relate to what I'm saying at all, but isn't this a fun vintage
box? I gave it to Lindsay for Christmas, along with some other fun bits
& baubs. It's probably a stationery box from the 60s or 70s. All
it needed was a good cleaning and a refreshed interior. I used one of
Amy Butler's scrapbook papers from a while back. Don't they say that the best
presents are those you have a hard time giving away?
Something like that. I love funky kitsch like this.
i had one just like this, but in white and yellow. and yes, it had note cards and envelopes. 1970s. right on.
Really cute box, the paper inside goes really well with it.

Happy birthday to your son! 13 wow! I was reading in bed last night when all of a sudden I shot up and freaked a little because my son just had his tenth birthday (on Dec. 31st), but all I could focus on was that he will be 11 next. Where has the time gone, it makes me a little sad to think of how he has been my little boy playing with dinosaurs and now is talking about how everyone has a phone, I’m not ready! They grow up too fast!

Amazing, my own first born, James Houston, is 13 today too. I remember holding his fresh wee little self wrapped in a baby blanket up to my face and thinking “I’ll never love like this again”. But I did. Four times! There is always room in the heart for another child.

Pink and green are fantastic together. I love that 70’s avocado green is back. And I love the word “kitchy”–going to use it at least once today. 🙂
I am in the middle of dismanteling my sewing room today so the ugly black tile (which I didn’t put down, thank you very much!) can finally be refinished. As I move all my little treasures and stuff I just enjoyed it so much…its lovely to have my own space! And now you have 2! I know you’ll enjoy them both. And elephant…gosh, I’ll have to go look, I bought a turtle in December!

Happy B’day to your baby boy. They do grow up quickly, don’t they? My first born “baby” and middle “baby” turn 21 and 19 this summer (agghhh!), and my littlest “baby” turns 12 in the spring. How’d all that happen?
I had to comment on that gorgeous vintage box you’re sharing because I’m pretty darn sure I remember my Mother having a box like that when I was much . . . much younger. I’m sure I probably thought it was the ugliest thing back then. Now, I’d love to get my hands on it if it’s still around.
