Fabric-Covered Brads

Lauragunntutorial1
Such a great idea.

Laura just posted a photo tutorial on how to make these.  And
there’s a giveaway.  In fact, I think she’s doing something like five
different giveaways this month — Have a good idea for how to use
fabric brads?  Someone suggested belt decor.

And I totally missed the boat on this next one.  Stephanie did these
amazing Trash Ties hair dos.  Amazing.  Have you ever seen a blog
that’s all about creative hair-dos for girls?  She had a Trash Ties
giveaway.  And I forgot to tell you.  But you should see these
hairstyles!  (All of them.  Not just the Trash Ties ones.)  Stephanie definitely gets it.  You really can do anything with them.

My computer’s still acting up.  I think we might have fixed it
today, but man, was I discombobulated for a few days there.  I’m
ping-ponging between a dozen projects that are all about 95% done.
Hand-written lists are everywhere.  Getting very close.

Glad to be back on my own computer again.  We have other, faster, more-powerful computers, but I still like mine best.

  1. I just ordered some or your fabric. I’m so excited. I’m going to mix it with my fabric from Tonga and Afrika and make a quilt when I get back to the states. I will keep you updated…accept, I kind of can sew. That’s something I want to learn to do better. Thanks for all the inspiration.

  2. I had major computer problems a couple of weeks ago with my powerbook so I had to bite the bullet and get a new imac, and I cannot wait to set it up since its soo big! I hate when you need to work and things are not going your way.
I will have to check out the tutorial on the brads , I keep dreaming of free time to make some fun new things.

  3. How adorable. I need all the cute hair ideas I can get with two little girls running around.
I totally love these brads, too. Of course…how could they not be cute all cuddled up in Heather Bailey fabric?!

  4. Thanks for link, Heather – looks like I gotta make some of these cute button brads. 🙂
And, thanks so much for the ice cream post ‘cuz I did indeed go out and buy the ice cream maker (great price at $15) and made my first batch of vanilla…fabulous! I baked a batch of Ghiradelli brownies to go with it…mmmmm. Gonna try your recipe next…I’ll just start the diet after summer is over – ha, ha.

  5. I am new to your blog, but adore your new scrapbooking paper line. Your colors, patterns are so inspiring to me. I am so happy to have found your blog!

  6. I like my computer best as well… I guess it’s because I use her everyday. :o)
Wow, that Stephanie sure can do some awesome tricks on hair! I love the ideas and of course, the Trash Ties!
    Hugs- Amelia

  7. I know what you mean about liking your own computer. My computer died two months ago and I had to buy a new one…slightly faster, Vista, etc. And all I could think was, I wish I had my old computer. WAH! I’m getting more used to it, but it’s not the same. 🙂

  8. I’ve just found your darking website and I’ve shared it with all my fabric freaky friends. I CAN’T WAIT for your online shop to open! Thank you so much for immediately responding to my recent email.

  9. ARRGGHHHH! I guess there is a reason for Spellcheck! I meant to say ‘darling’ not ‘darking’. I guess I could turn on the light so I could see the keyboard.

  10. Hola,my name is Bettina.Ilove your blog and always read it.Please sorry for my inglesh,is very bad.Im from Buenos Aires,Argentina.Hasta Pronto.

  11. Heather, I am so inspired by your work, you help me to see my potentials as an Artist. I would love to design fabric of my own, but I don’t know much about the process. Any suggestions on purchases of tools and supplies I would need to get started? By the way, I was so bummed I missed out on your class on pin cushions, it looked delightful. I live in Phoenix so I’m hopeful you’ll have another class soon! Have a beautiful day 🙂 ~Sarah

  12. Man oh man covering buttons is addictive. I like to get the really huge ones and embellish the fabric before covering them and….whammo, a gorgeous and unique brooch. Although to be honest my friend Laila does it much better than me. Heather your ice- cream photos made me salivate….. but I have 3 little one, when will I ever get time to make my own ice cream?
