Well, this is new — a surprise guest post by Isaac. He must have noticed that I hadn’t posted our puppies‘ names yet — I was getting used to them first.
So, he took the puppies outside for some photos & wrote this below. Of
course, we’ve been having all together too much fun the last couple of
days, so I’m only now dropping it into my blog.
Here’s Isaac:
It’s
blasted hot here. I know it’s not the hottest place on Earth. I think
the troops in Iraq have it a bit worse (God bless them). But my friend
said his thermometer read 118° yesterday.
Elijah
and I had Boy Scouts last night and his scoutmaster arranged for two
police officers to come speak to the boys about integrity and being
a good citizen. They were bike officers. That means spandex and
kevlar — quite the combo.
We
finally made our dogs’ names official. The boy’s name is Pixel, short for Raster Pixel Spooly – fun to say. And
the girl is Bobbin. Her pedigree name is likely going to be Agnes
Bobbin Fluff (Aggy Bobbin, Bobbin Fluff, Bobs, etc.)
They
have
completely distinct (from each other) personalities. Pixel is
flopsy, goofy, dense, unflappable, courageous and grumbly. Bobbin is
sweet, mild, sometimes-feisty, sometimes-timid, nimble, bright and
eager-to-please. Like most females she embodies some contradictory
traits, and
is a complex character. Both puppies are lovable to the Nth degree.
In Phoenix, you’re lucky to get a half hour of outside time before the
sun goes down, when it’s almost bearable. The dogs run up and down,
flop in the grass, pant, chase Elijah and Charlotte, sniff, wrestle,
and come say “hi.” How do they seem to know that I am home base? Because I’m alpha, or just because I’m stationary?
Pixel is crazy about
treats and, let’s face it, a little on the chubby side. I think I might need
to feed the two of them separately. Bobbin is super trim. Pixel is my
little piggy. We never had dogs when I was growing up. Having these guys around brings out the kid in me.
Happy
Fourth of July. This country isn’t perfect,
but I am extremely grateful to be an American. If you want to read a
fantastic book that sums up the meaning of America, pick up a copy of John Adams by David McCullough. Great book.
Tomorrow, we are going to swim with family then BBQ with friends. Can’t wait for a much needed day off.

Yep, we went to the movies – twice – and to a friend of a friend’s
house for a BBQ – amazing salsa! – stayed up late, chatted it up, made
new friends, set up play dates, watched fireworks, tanked up on sugar
soda, etc. Great weekend.)

these dogs are soo cute, I cannot have animals due to allergies but I live through those who can. We had the opposite climate here in Massachusetts on the 4th, it was only in the 70’s and cloudy, and we took the boys to see Wall e. Here was a first we had to evacuate the movie theater 1/3 way through because someone pulled the fire alarm!! so we waited and then caught the next one and got free passes. I think this 4th was not the best on record for us!

Love the names! Those dogs are so cute. Glad you guys are having a great summer. Here in GA it is HOT and HUMID yuck! The 4th was nice I have to say. A nice breeze as we watched the fireworks.

I’m melting too. John Adams is a one of the best books I’ve ever read. I learned more about the Revolutionary War from that book than from all my years in school.

Those are amazing photos of two of the most adorable puppies I think I’ve ever seen! Perfect names for pets in my house too as my dh is a computer geek and I LOVE to sew!

John Adams is one of my favorite books. I highly recommend 1776 and Truman as well! If you ever get a chance to see David McCullough, you should. He’s a wonderful speaker.

I have to tell you it was fun to sew fat quarters of the gorgeous prints together and your binding tute is awesome, this was my first quilt. And it actually looks even more amazing and has that quilt-y look after you wash it and it’s sooo comfy!! I am planning on smocking something with Pop or Bijou, just have to see what the fabric tells me to do (I warned Beth at EPDolls to let me know the minute it is in the store)! Take care!

Fantastic names, and adorable puppies! It’s nice to see them with their ears not clipped. My doggy has hers cut. My Minnie Schnauzer’s name is Gretel, (or Chootsie, and Cheetsie–she has a lot of nicknames) she’s the most affectionate dog I’ve ever known, and such a baby too!

those are some great puppy photos! the only name I can think that would be more appropriate for a designer would be jpeg – a name I’ve actually heard given to a dog.

My darling man was in Iraq last year and said it was 130 in the SHADE, so yes while you’ve got it hot, you also have the option of wearing shorts. OH and when they were on patrol, the 60 pounds of Kevlar and body armor, well needless to say he came back a little thinner and thankful for the reasonably “hot” temps of North Carolina (on a really bad day, 99).
Cute CUTE dogs, I had a little one once named Steiff. The best dog EVER.

Pixel? Pixel? As far as I know you are the ONLY other person in the world (other than me) who has a Pixel – my 10 year old beagle/cocker mix is named Pixel. My kids called her Pickles when was younger. I am cracking up – so much in common (wink)! Oh that is too funny. Great name!!

Such perfect little names for two adorable pups.
I just discovered your wonderful blog. I love the miniature schnauzers! They are loyal companions and you’ll have a blast with them. I have an 8 year old miniature schnauzer named Sally and a 7 year old Shih Tzu named Mitzi Mae. Both of these breeds do not shed and are perfect pets for folks with allergies. I have asthma and my dogs don’t bother me at all! In addition, there’s no hair on the furniture. I look forward to reading future posts about Pixel and Bobbin (awesome names by the way), and all of your other cool stuff!

Also, your pups are ADORABLE!!
I have a yorkie that will balk at a leash if I use a neck collar. She is afraid of the feel. anyway I have found that if I put on either a baby onsie and use the tag to slide the closure of the leash to or my favorite to put either a collar round her chest or one of the harness collars that fit round the front legs and chest she loves to go with me anywhere…
