I just received some fun little pick-me-ups in the mail. These
goodies hail from ms. elinor, lowercase e. I love this little
figurine. She’s only about two inches tall. She’ll be making herself
at home on Charlotte’s bookshelf (which used to be a china hutch —
I’ll have to post about that one too).
Elinor,
well mom :), also sent some funky fabric bits, horsey buttons and an
antique mother/daughter postcard. Random and perfect. We have a lot
in common in our taste for miscellany. And, mom’s now selling my
fabric on her website. So, here’s a link for that.
It’s our babysitting night tonight. We have a co-op set-up with
three of our friends where each couple takes a turn watching all of the
kids on Friday nights. In other words, we each have reliable
date-night babysitting for three weeks, followed by one very hectic
fourth Friday filled with all the goings-on of eleven little kids. So worth it.
Highly recommended. Of course, it was on a date night that Charlotte
broke her teeth at our friends’ home. So, if you set up one of these
babysitting circles with your friends, make sure all couples agree to
some sort of basic structure — like two adults present or rooms with
bunkbeds get locked, etc. It can get pretty crazy.
We usually take the kids to the park for a couple of hours and get
them all tuckered out and then set them up with pillows, blankets and
popcorn in our loft and project a fun movie onto the wall. Sometimes
we’ll slip in a craft activity or cookie decorating. I think we made
New Years hats once. Anyhow, that’s my night. It’s actually kind of
fun.

How adorable!!!! What fun little treasures, Heather! You have a loving and doting MIL! 🙂 Have a great weekend! Love, Laurie~
Such cute mail goodies and wow aren’t you a brave one taking on 11 kids. Does sound like a great idea though for date nights and the movie projected on the wall must be a great hit. Hope it goes well. 🙂
All the little things she packaged for you were perfect little things that though small are big to receive 🙂 I love the idea of having 3 nights a month for dates..and the 4th..we’ll like you said so worth it! 🙂 Enjoy.
I just read about you Toothless Rose! Barely 2…oh how hard. My little one is just over 2…weird not to say 27 months, but we are passed that. Anyway, we had the pleasure of her breaking her femur back in Oct. She wore a spika cast for 3 weeks (yep only 3!) and I think it was much harder on me than her! I am sure your little one has recovered quite nicely by now-It is amaizing how the littlest ones recover!
I love your date night idea- only problem is we have no friends with kids…geez we are the only married ones too!
Checked out your fabric—love love love it!
What a great little package! I was lucky enough to meet elinor (ok, so maybe I was a bit of a cyber fan/blog stalker geek, but she was so nice and gracious I’ll call it meeting) at the Chicago International Quilt fest this year, you have one terrific mil!
That date night arrangement sounds terrific — hmmn, wonder which of my friends I could con, um convince…
The little girl figurine is absolutely adorable!!
Love the little figurine! She’s adorable.
Babysitting coop? BRILLIANT! And SO much fun!
I don’t have kids yet, but I’m definitely tucking the babysitting coop away in the collection of “great ideas”.
Fabulous babysitting idea, date night is highly recommended!
Enjoyed your little posted treats-you did well in the Mum department…. as I always enjoy your blog (and from there your fabric range!) thank you for the soap idea, Tracey
Hi Heather!
I found your blog last week after searching for a headband pattern for my daughter. Finally today I could get the pattern to load up…last week it said the website could not be found. I just printed it off and I am not great at sewing but the pattern details are all mushed together and I can’t read the instructions! Help! My little girl has been wanting me to make her headbands but they do not stay in her thick hair and seeing yours gave me promise that this would work. Could you email me the pattern? The pdf scrambled the instructions to the point that I can’t tell what is what.
Thanks so much! I love your fabrics and your blog!
Blessings,

Thats really a great idea!
What a sweet little figurine. I adore the red bow and the oh so pretty way she is holding her skirt.
Thanks to the link to fabric. I have had a hard time finding it here in Georgia now it is just a click away! Now I just have to get the darn sewing machine fixed.
Gorgeous fabs! And what a great idea for co-op babysitting! I’ll have to see if I can get that together in my new town. ~A 🙂
Ooooh, sounds like loads of fun. I’ve tried many-a-time to set up a co-op of my own.
What a wonderful mom you’ve got. 🙂
Heather, I just recently discovered your blog and I am so enjoying getting to know you and your amazingly beautiful fabric! Very impressive what you have done!
I will continue to visit and learn more….thanks for such a great place to visit.
And your husband’s photography is absolutely amazing. I had a photography studio for 7 years and did lots of weddings and portraits….I really appreciate his eye for beauty and detail. Very quality stuff!
I will be back often.
I work at a small quilt shop and we carry some of your Freshcut line. I want the pear pincushion pattern to order for the shop but can’t find it. Is it available? Thank you. Love your blog.
Oh my! I have a Charlotte Rose of my own although it seems she’s a little younger than yours. What great taste you must have! The babysitting co-op is such a wonderful idea, I must try to organise around here.
LOVE the idea of the babysitting coop – we did one too but we would just take turns going to the other person’s house and babysitting there while they went out – they way you do itmean you have other adults to go out with! We will have to give it a try…have a great night!
Sounds like a wild night! Have fun. 🙂
Besides the teeth breaking at a friends house- how horrid and scary!!- your activities over at your house sound awesome! What a cool idea to have a co-op baby sitting club!
Is that little figurine made of wax? Like those old fashioned hard-waxy Christmas candles (that sometimes don’t even have wicks?)
Good site! I’ll stay reading! Keep improving!
