Busting Up

Oh
my, oh my.  Thank you for the stories!  They’re coming in faster than I
can read them.  I’m going to cap the contest at 300 comments so I can
catch up sometime this month 😉 and get some winners announced!  And,
wow, I didn’t realize just how embarrassing embarrassment can be.  Thank heaven I didn’t do it; I did not
wish for an embarrassing moment as my birthday wish.  In fact, the one
candle on my slice of cheesecake blew out on its own before I had a
chance to wish.  What does that mean?

Artifacts above?  Evidence of my own Poppy in the works. Yay!

  1. I think the whole posting of stories that evolved for your birthday was not only a funny “gift” for you but it turned into a gift for all of us. No matter what our story, we’re not alone in experiencing these little life challenges and can now, on the most part, laugh about them. So, I think it became a kind of “reverse” birthday and I feel as though I was gifted with tons of giggles and my tummy is still sore after laughing so hard. Thank you!

  2. Don’t worry about the candle going out before you had a chance to blow it – I think it just means that you are very fulfilled in your life with lots of love surrounding you and the wish went on to someone who needed it! Hope you had a wonderful day.

  3. Oh! Cheesecake Factory??? Which kind did you have? My new fav is banana creme cheesecake…..yummmmmmmm! Again, Happy, happy birthday!!!

  4. Happy Birthday Heather! Thank-you so much for asking for the embarrassing moments – I’ve had such a good laugh over the last couple of days. What fun!

  5. I think the most embarrassing moment happened when I was out to lunch with a friend and my cap came off my tooth, front tooth mind you, and fell in my food. It was an asian type salad with rice and lots of very small pieces of vegs….
well I couldn’t talk because my front tooth was missing and all you would see is the post hanging, so I had to put my hand in the salad find the cap. by now my friend kept saying whats the matter , what are you doing…and all the tables around us are watching! I was just so embarrassed…found it went to the rest room and used fixodent I carry with me for this reason and reglued it.
Went back to the table and ordered dessert!
the heck with the salad after that ordeal….

I’ve never known anyone “cool” who had the same birthday. Pete Sampras, but who cares about him?

  8. Happy Birthday from one Heather to another! My “thirty tenth” birthday is fast approaching -less than a month 🙁 – and I have rediscovered my love of sewing and crafting in my dotage! This lovely blog your incredible fabrics help to inspire me!
Hope this year is your most successful and happy one yet!

  10. Well, my story just happened today so it’s a fresh one!
Today was my second day of grade 9. It was lunch time – dreaded time as I don’t know anyone in the school – so I decide to hightail it outta the caf thru a set of double doors on the other side. I push – and set off the fire alarm. It’s loud. And there were 500 kids in the caf, seniors and all. And everybody was laughing. So I put my head down and walk right out. Cute boys will know me as the retard who can’t read a sign. I’m desperately trying to find a way tomorrow to make light of the moment. Wish me luck tomorrow, I have to fix this somehow before I have a permanent rep in the school! And thanks to everyone who gave their embarrassing moments, you made me feel much better. 🙂
