Big, Big, Big!!!

We did it!  And I can’t believe we pulled this off in time for Christmas — It’s Trash Ties day!!!

Ttrevealcollagea_2

My once-buttoned lips are now happily unfastened and I can freely talk Trash.

This is a big day for Isaac & me.  We spent a good half of 2007 designing, photographing, planning, re-designing,
sourcing, proofing, printing, and planning some more.  There have been
a few rocks on the path and a couple of big boulders, but we forged
ahead.  And now here they are, cute little pink boxes of Trash Ties,
looking all innocent and easily-accomplished.

Ttboxes_3 Isaac just finished the new Trash Ties website today and I’ve started a Trash Ties blog!!  So much of my personal history is wrapped up in my adventures with Trash Ties (movie sets, patent stuff, fancy stores, big magazines, tiny apartment, terribly-sick baby, incredibly-worried
mommy, rapidly-growing business, and a big decision to hold off on Trash Ties till
the patent came through, etc).  I wanted a place where I could recount some of those stories,
hold contests and challenges, and we could have all sorts of madcap fun
with hair.  I probably said it better over there;  I’m all googly-eyed
and goofy at this point.

Websitegrabsmall
So stop by the new blog & website and see what I’ve been up to for
a big part of the year.  I bet you can even track down the front view
of this curious photo

There are a crazy-ton of pictures and all of the info you need to finally see what I was wearing in my hair last EasterThat
was an accidental sneak by the way, not so much a sneaky sneak (though
I like those).  And sorry about keeping quiet.  People go crazy over
these and I didn’t want you wanting them until I could deliver.

Tthappyholidays_2

But yes, go read my first post over there and then have a look at The Basics pages in the sidebar and Isaac’s pink palace of a website.  He even programmed a video slideshow and lovingly turned these little pink boxes into a Winter Wonderland.  He cracks me up.

Ttcoupon1_2

And here’s a coupon for your holiday shopping pleasure, good through December 10th.  You don’t really need the coupon, just the code, but I couldn’t resist.
Ttintl(BTW, and completely unrelated, if you haven’t learned the words to Sesame Street’s I Love Trash, then
you’re not truly living.)  The above code will give you 15% off
your entire order — just for you guys.  So many of you have written,
wanting to buy Trash Ties without even knowing what they are – wow!
And yes, the shopping cart is set up for international sales.  Follow
the Globe symbol for details.

So, go to the Trash Ties blog to see what these babies can do and put that cutie coupon to good use.

Yay for Trash Ties day!  We made it.  I’m excited to finally share these with you.  It’s a good day.

Update:  A few of you had difficulty paying through PayPal earlier today. I wanted to let you know that Isaac has since worked with GoDaddy to implement a solid and secure solution that allows you to pay directly in the store. Now everything is working smoothly!  I apologize for any inconvenience.

Another Update:  If you’ve placed an order or are about to, make sure to read through this bulleted list I just added at the Trash Ties blog covering shipping dates, coupon tips, site security and a giveaway!

  1. Love, Love, Love this! I will be ordering. I have thick hair and love these styles. You have been so informative. Could you please list how many ties were uses for each hairstyle? Then I’ll know how many to buy.

  2. Yay… I just ordered Mine! My daughter will look so cute in them! I got butter yellow, a dark pink and a light pink! Love all the colors!-n

  3. I’m SOOO excited about these Heather – does your matchless creativity ever stop?! WOW!! Love them and I’m going to grab some right away.
    Congratulations!!

  4. I’m a hairdresser so I can’t wait for CosmoProf to start carring them. I’ll definately try them out on some of my clients. They’ll be great for updos.

  5. My brother gave me some that he bought from you a few years back. I wonder what happened to them. The long ones seem really cool because you don’t have to worry about it moving around on your head like ribbons always do.

  6. Heather ~ These are really cool! What an endeavor – all the work you guys must’ve put into this. Congratulations!! The packaging, the pictures – everything looks beautiful! I’m sure you’ll be getting a million questions… Mine is, will these only be available on-line…or do you foresee making them available through any brick & mortar shops, in the future? Way to go on a really cool thing!

  7. Congrats on the official launch, Heather!!! (:
I’m sure I’m among the many readers who have been WAITING to see what these darlings can really do! (:
Thank goodness for international shipping; I can’t wait to get a hold of them!

  8. wow looks fantastic – maybe THe solution for a nice hairstyle for my 5 year old daughter…
just one question, don’t know if you would answer…the material looks like SATIN, it is secure on fine hair, not too slippery ?
    good luck

  9. I think these things are so cool – really. I went over to order one right away – and guess what – $6 for shipping and handling. Yikes! I just got 5 yards of fabric shipped to me for $4.75….I mean how heavy can it be????
Guess I’ll just have to wait until they hit the stores!

  10. CUTE!!!! I just asked Santa and he told me to send him the link. Guess what I am getting in my stocking?
Really, I much be leaving since I know the words to I love trash!
    Congrats… everything looks great!

  11. *That* explains it! I saw your pretty hairdo picture of you waiting for your sister’s baby to arrive and thought, “hmmm…I wonder what happened to her Trash Ties”. Thanks to the power of Google, I actually found your Trash Ties website that must not have been announced yet and ordered some *last week*. All the while, I kept thinking “this so strange that I never read about it on the blog- maybe Bloglines didn’t update me on that post”. Ha! Still haven’t received the order but I am super excited about the fresh new looks I’ll be able to create. It’s a shame about the discount, though. 🙁

  12. Karen — If you wrap ’em tightly around your daughter’s hair two+ times, they’ll hang on tight. It’s all in wrapping them tightly.
If you’re holding a small portion of hair, you can even wrap them three times. I like to wrap each tie as many revolutions as possible so the end result is more petite and cute. I’ll show some little girl hair-dos on the TT blog soon too.

  13. Yeah!!! From one Heather to another Congrats!!! We in the blog world are so proud of you. Can’t wait to make my first purchase!!!!

  14. Congratulations! Trash is GOOD!
You and Isaac have done an amazing job in putting this whole thing together! Everything is so thorough and professionally done. Great job!
I just bought some for myself and my girls! Can’t wait to play with them!

  15. Oh my gosh – these are so amazing! Totally in the category of “thing I never knew I needed but now must totally have.” I’m so not girly, and I never think about my hair, but now you have me wanting to try all kinds of new styles. So cool!

  16. Thanks so much for the coupon! I just picked up some white ones for my 4-year old. That pic of the little red head with the leah buns pushed me right into the BUY zone!!

  17. I am so excited to try these. I just ordered one set of the smaller ones to start, but I’m thinking these are great for my niece’s stockings.
    Congratulations!!!

  18. Congratulations Heather! I can truly sense your excitement and it’s contagious. I’m off to check out your site and order some of my very own Trash Ties!

  19. Yay!!! These look so cool – my daughters and I can’t wait to try them!
I kinda jumped the gun and ordered before reading this whole post so I missed using the coupon . . .I guess I’ll just have to place another order for more!
    Congrats!

  20. Congratulations, what an accomplishment! Good for you, and good for us and our holiday hair needs. I like how your Heather Bailey TT logo is different than your other one…they are both well suited.
(Boy, a lot of pink going on over there in the sidebar!)

  21. OK just finished placing my order – Whoo hoo! The perfect stocking stuffers! Congratulations…I’ve sorta been stalking the website to see when they were going to be officially available. Glad I waited – thanks for the coupon!!

  22. I’m a big fan of your artistic sensibility–your fabric has been such an inspiration in and of itself, I’m quite amazed that you have the time, energy, and innovation for yet another thing. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your success!

  23. Congrats, Heather! These should be a hit. They look like tons of fun. And as somone with thin, fine hair, I’m grateful for something that will work for all of us. 🙂

  24. Congratulations! I have been waiting to see what they were since I love buying things to play with in my hair. Just went a got some! After cutting off 12 inches for locks of love I need to figure out different things to do with my only semi-long hair now.

  25. holy crap. inGENIOUS. i will totally put this to the test as my hair is so fine and slippery that nothing will hold it, nothing! i can’t wait to try it out. congratulations!!

  26. **FANTASTIC!** They look brilliant, Heather! I am totally useless when it comes to doing hair. My lack of coordination extends right to my fingertips. I send my poor little girl off to her ballet class each week with a very dodgy looking do. Eek. I think I will have to try some of these – they might be the answer for me and my little ones! The navy blue will be a great match with my daughter’s school uniform when she starts school in the New Year too. Yipeeee!
(oh…and my guess about your Monday news was right – hehe – that’s a rarity!)

  27. Yay, yay! I was hoping this was the big news. I just ordered a set and am now kicking myself that I didn’t order a gift for a friend, too! Thank you for the discount, that is always helpful. The packaging is awesome, the colors you offer are great, and the website is beautiful. My, you certainly have accomplished a lot these last few years!

  28. Congrats! I’m so excited for you. I’m sure you were about to bust at the seams-not being able to spill the beans. Enjoy this time!!

  29. I just placed my order! Guess what I am getting in my stocking this year. 🙂 Congratulations to you Heather!

  30. Oh – a quick question about the international shipping. If I am ordering 2 sets of Trash Ties do I then put ‘2’ with the international shipping as well, or just leave it at ‘1’?
Choosing which colour to buy is very difficult!

  31. Congratulations! Those are great! I’ve been known to tie my hair with trash ties (the “real” ones) and paperclips (years ago – oh the things you’ll do when you’re an office assistant and forget a ponytail holder), but never thought they could look so cute!

  32. they do look so great, delicious packaging, but did you notice on the main page there is a typo? “Wih trash ties, everyday is a good hair day!”

  33. Nobody else read this please…Heather, there is a typo on the front page of the Trash web site…It says “Wih Trash Ties, every day is a good hair day.” Unless Wih was intentional?!

  34. Got some for my sisters! They all have long gorgeous hair that they love to put up in elaborate styles, but nothing ruins a good updo like a million bobby pins poking out everywhere… so these are perfect!

    Ez

  35. Yahoooooo! That’s soooo awesome! I’m so excited for you! I love the concept and can’t wait to get some! Congratulations on your HUGE accomplishment!

  36. Ahhh, finally the big reveal! Congrats, Heather – the site looks great and Isaac’s photography is stunning. I’m sure Trash Ties will be a wild success!

  37. Congratulations, Heather! They look great. You did such a great job with your product and with presenting it — of course! We would expect no less!

  38. fabulous! congratulations, heather. these are going to take off, and not just because of your loyal and awesome readers – they’ll catch on quickly!

  39. Congratulations Heather! You’re on your way to being the next Millionaire Mom-can’t wait to see you on Oprah–I predict that in your near future for sure! Off to order some trash for stocking stuffers! Love the product, the look, the presentation and the names you chose for each color are SMASHING—you think of the whole package sweetie! POLKA DOT TIES ASAP please :)Hugs, Eva
P.s. WTG Isaac-the website looks fab!

  40. Hi there – I want some for myself and my daughter… we are in the UK but when I click on your international shipping button I get no info….. could you look into that? Thanks!!

  41. Ok, I sussed the shipping but your address form won’t work for me as it won’t recognise that the postcodes and phone numbers etc are different to USA ones. Is there any other way to order?

  42. I am also in the uk and if you click the international shipping button it works now, but says to pay via paypal, but there is no paypal button available. Help!
    Fantastic by the way.

  43. Well done Heather, it looks like a lot of work has gone into getting these to market.
I’m trying to order from the UK, and it says I need to pay an international shipping fee of $5 and the standard shipping fee as well?

  44. Wonderful job, Heather! I bet it feels great to have all your hard work pay off. I’ll be ordering when I can decide on just a few colors! (Can’t break the bank this close to Christmas!) and also props to your hubby for the website. It looks AMAZING and was really easy to navigate.

  45. Congratulations, Heather!! I remember that Easter photo well and thinking to myself, how does she get her hair to look so cool?? (duh!) I’m off to shop!

  46. Congrats! I know you’ve been anzioulsy awaiting the release of this product! I’ve been on pins and needles. As soon as I saw the link listed I purchased a long white one from my friends wedding next summer, and I know she’ll love it as Christmas gift and then of course a short set for myself! I love it, and Congradulations again. I love it!

  47. I have been looking at pictures of you and your daughter for monthes trying to see the hair doodles that I KNEW you where coming up with but were keeping just out of site! I love them! I can’t wait to try them myself.

  48. If you ever need hair models, I have some beautiful girls (ages 2, 5 and 10) and only live a few miles from you! My 10 year old has REALLY long hair and I can’t wait to try them in her hair. We’re always trying out new do’s. This will be the best. But…will it really be fair if my 5 year old is the only one with trash ties in her hair for her hip hop recital? She’ll look too cool!!!

  49. Congratulations, their amazing,i can’t believe what an assortment of hairstyles you can achieve with these babies. Also i’ve had hiccups with the international order(australia) as well, i followed the special intructions and no paypal button, i,ve recieved an invoice with payment incomplete.
Does that mean i have to reorder?
    Can’t wait to get them

  50. Shoot, I was hoping you were going to either reveal your new fabric line or announce your sewing patterns. I am dying to make one of those handbags you showed us last year. Guess I’ll have to continue waiting patiently.
The twist tie things are a cute idea. They would make good shoelaces too. Just a thought.
    Elise

  51. SO….. FUN! i have a 17 year old and she is going to love these. they will be so fun for the big dances. you’re amazing.

  53. Congradulations Heather. I am so excited to order finally. I have been waiting for this day to come. Abby just loves those little things and I don’t mind them either. Great Job!!!!!

  54. Heather – congratulations! It’s amazing how much you’ve accomplished just since I’ve been reading your blog. You seem like a person who is just bubbling over with ideas but also has the stick-to-it-ed-ness (how do you spell that?) to see your projects through.
I was about to ask you when you were going to do the reveal and BOOM – here they are! I can’t wait to order mine … I have pretty long hair with the prenatal vitamins’ help – yahoo!

  55. hooray! I’ve been anxiously waiting. I’ve just bought 3 sets – one for me and one for each of my fav coworkers – they are going to love them!

  56. I got so excited by the beginning of this post that I went straight over to the shop and bought ties for every girl I know for christmas, without reading the entire post and seeing the coupon! Oh welll …. I’m happy to pay full price.
    Can’t wait to get them!
    Congrads!

  57. Congratulations Heather!
Gonna buy some trash ties….Will you be on QVC or HSN soon??? I think you’ve got a great product.

  58. These are amazing. I just ordered some for me and some for a friend as part of her X-Mas gift!
Brilliant Idea, Heather! Keep up the great work!

  59. Congratulations and job well done!! In my dream last night, you were my neighbor and Henry wouldn’t get off your son’s bike and I was trying to hook up with Richie Sambora (eeewww!) it was all so strange and hysterical at the same time.
    Congrats again!
    oxox

  60. I ordered some for myself, for my Husband to put in my stocking. HaHa! You are seriously amazing, and thank you for the coupon.

  61. Hip, hip, hooray!!! Congratulations!! I’ve been dieing to get my hands on these, canNOT wait to check out the new blog and site and order me some for my Christmas stocking! Yay!

  62. Congratulations on opening the shop – I have been waiting & waiting for the announcement! I have also just ordered some, can’t wait to get them!

  63. Heather, I went to buy a couple boxes and when I was at the point to put in my credit card info it doesn’t show that it’s a secure site. How can that be? Still, I didn’t risk it. Let me know if I’m missing something. Would love some. Do you take pay pal?
    Thanks

  64. I can’t wait to get mine! I ordered two short and one long, but with six females in this house, I’ll probably have to order more. I, too, wish I had read the whole post and seen the coupon before I ordered. Sheez, I’m such a dummy!

  65. Kniterella,
We took PayPal the first couple of hours that the shopping cart was up, but only half of the orders were being completed successfully. We then hustled to get a secure credit card solution through GoDaddy that same day. Everything is now up and working properly and super secure! GoDaddy says that it will take them a few days to have the “https” thing show up to reflect that security. Isaac’s my expert on all of that. If you have any questions that are more specific, email him at info@trashties.com. That email will go right to Isaac and he should be able to help with your questions.
    Thanks!!
    -Heather

  66. Thanks Heather! Great. I was looking for the “https” to let me know it was secure. I figured it was because you two are on top of it but I just thought I’d mention it. Thanks for posting back to me and I’m going to go buy a couple boxes now – can’t wait to see how these work!
    Thanks so much!!

  67. Wow, a big thank you to Scott and Jessica Law for all the time they took to help push this through for you guys. The models, the hairdos, the photoshoots, great work scott and jess!

  68. Okay…so now we know what you used to put your hair up while you were waiting for you nephew, but I want to know exactly how you did it – I can’t see them in your hair for the photo. Did you do it yourself? Please reveal your secret…

  69. congrats on your product. I am glad that you have protected it, but I also have a patent on a children’s product that I designed and it still got ripped off….best of luck with yours. “In a world full of copies, here’s to the originals”!
    best,
    carol eldridge

  70. I was so happy to see these in time for Christmas stocking. Lots of girls with long hair in my life! Congratulations!

  71. Thank you so much for inventing this product. I can’t tell you how many times I have fiddled with my hair, styling it with my hands and WISHING I had a little doo-dad to hold in place. Clips are too clunky and not strong enough… bobby pins hold very little hair. This product is a dream come true and I was very happy to order four boxes. THANK YOU!

  72. Heather, so happy for you and your o-so-pretty trash ties. Your blog puts such a smile on my face. Cheers to you and all your hard work, motherhood included!
    Lisa

  73. These are fabulous. You’ve been dropping teasers here and there and it’s such a joy to see them finally go live!
Gorgeous models, BTW. Especially the lovely young woman with the dark hair in the plaid dress.
I’m ordering some for myself and I can’t wait until my daughters hair is long enough to play with!

  74. Oh boy!! I have been waiting for this … And I will be placing a order.. How fun for you.. Congrats on this new adventure of yours.. I sit here and think what could I event.. LOL.. I love all the tips.. My hair is a lot shorter now..I used to have hair down past my knees.. My dh was sad that I cut it, but @ the time I just couldn’t take care of it.. It was in knots.. Does the instructions include how you did the latest hair style? Its one you posted a picture of.. I can’t wait to try these lovelies out..

  75. I ordered mine and those of my daughter a few days ago and hope to get them before Christmas…I live in France…
    Emmanuelle

  76. I just ordered a set for my daughters stocking (she is 4) But I have to admit, they might not make it to the stocking, I just may have to keep them for myself!! 😉 Congrats!!

  77. Good Work Heather
I just ordered some for my college age daughters for their Christmas Stockings. I know they’ll love them, I trust you! 🙂
Had a hard time deciding which colors!
    Thanks. Diane in Idaho

  78. I thought I would stop by your blog to check on the progress of the Trash Ties and was so happy to see they are finally here! I plan on ordering both styles in the near future. GREAT IDEA HEATHER!!!!

  79. wow they look great (and just in time for me cutting all my very long hair off into a bob – ican get more creative with it now!) but I only just saw the update to your blog – please oh please offer another discount – would make the world of difference to buyers like me overseas!

  80. Bravo, Heather and Isaac! I hope and pray you have a world-wide hit on your hands! Your restraint in waiting for all the details (patent, trademarked phrases, etc) is impressive!
CNBC has a program, “The Big Idea with Donnie Deutsch”, that you should get on.
All the best to you and your whole family! Keep those creative juices flowing, Heather!
    Fondly,
    Penny

  81. Hello Heather,
I got introduced to your blog about a month ago from my friend/artist Sarah Jane (SarahJaneStudios.com) and have followed a bit with your flair for style and fabrics…when I saw THIS post I was floored because it seemed to come out from left field and was such a different medium for you (although your fantastic hairstyles did need these, I can see!) Congrats! This is such an innovative and fun product that fills a need for all of those creative women out there bored to tears with ribbons and elastics and florals…way to keep things fresh and exciting in the world.
I wanted to introduce myself anyhow because we’d love to feature you on our blog for women entrepreneurs sometime, Startup Princess.
