I finally pulled out the wheat grinder I got for Christmas and gave it a whirl. Elijah needed some ‘mom and me’ time, so we baked whole wheat biscotti. They turned out OK — just a little bit too healthy-like. But, hey, they’re almost gone now, so that says something.
They look yum-licious! How do you like your grinder? I’ve been looking at different ones…
Thanks! As far as the grinder goes, my mom did a lot of research before buying this one (Nutrimill by Kitchen Resource), so I think it’s a pretty safe bet. It also seems a lot quieter than others I’ve listened to. Overall, it’s a simple machine and easy to use — looks like we’ll be eating more healthily at the Bailey house!
I almost became tearful viewing your blog. It so reminds me that: I can’t needlepoint; that eyecandy is not appreciated by everyone; that someday the internet will not be free and seeing creations like yours may soon be a thing of the past… Forgive me, the last one is perhaps getting way ahead of things :).
Gee, they look pretty darn good to me!
I have the absolute BEST Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe that I will send your way! Makes them perfectly chewy every time!
When I was a kid, my mom, on a “health food” kick (it was the late 70s), made whole wheat chocolate chip cookies. We each had one. That was it…
I have tried, but I just don’t like whole wheat.
BUT, I have developed my banana bread recipe into one that uses oat bran (from Trader Joes) and the result is quite yummy!
i have to say that my son would be delighted with any time with me that involved grinding things up! they look pretty good from here.
I think biscotti are the most fun of the baked goods. You get to bake, slice, then bake again.
mmm they look good – never had whole wheat biscotti before though – are they very different? I love the plate they are sat on too.
I made whole wheat bread for our Lent eucharist services at church. My little ones never want any other kind. Yumm!!
