Limber Lulu

Girlhangar1hbThe collection grows.  Cute hangar, huh?  What I can’t believe is that her ponytails are still intact

And, as bloggy-voodoo would have it, she looks an awful lot like Hillary’s recent mobile and Sarah’s subsequent magnet set, both adorable.  How old is she?  I have no idea.  But, she had to be mine.

Yesterday was Elijah’s birthday — ten years old.  How’d that happen? I’m certainly not ten years older than when I had him.

We took him and a gaggle of his friends to an indoor play-shangri-la: buffet, tokens, bowling, the works.

It was the first birthday party I didn’t have to decorate for (mixed feelings here).  But, with his birthday following Christmas so closely, I can’t deny that it was a welcome break.

  1. Lulu is too cute!
Today is my little boy’s birthday…somehow I blinked and he turned 7.
This was also the first birthday party for us that wasn’t at home! We took a bunch of small people to the movies. I was a tiny bit sad not to have it at home as usual… I think I might enjoy the chaos leading up to party time!
    Happy belated birthday to Elijah!

  2. Happy b-day Elijah! I can’t beleive he’s 10. Last year I took Lily and a friend to Chucky Cheese. Also had mixed feelings about not doing all the fluff. I loved Elijah’s cowboy party a few years back. Lily still has her cowgirl vest in her dress up trunk. Call me!! love you.

  3. Yep I agree, I am not 11 years older than when I had that baby boy either.
Great idea to go OUT for the birthday, keeps the house tidy too.

  4. My oldest (of 4) dd turned 10 yesterday as well. And I agree…Where does that time go? Thanks for all the fun stuff you share. Were do you store/display it all?

  5. My eldest turned 13 yesterday, and the time just seems to fly by. Love the hanger too, just so adorable, and Happy Birthday to your son.

  6. Happy Birthday Elijah!!! Wow two digits! That is so cool, Nicolas will be nine & is so excited that only another year until he’s two digits. Isn’t Charlotte’s right around the corner?
lots of happiness to all, xo,AM

  7. What a cute hanger! She looks alot like the remains of a Christmas ornament I have patched for about 15 years. LOL!
Mine was a girl with braids sticking out straight from the sides of her head…needless to say they are loooong gone. I am thinking my oldest daughter has a secret plan to try and rejuvenate her for me.
    Happy Birthday to Elijah…great name!

  8. A very Happy Birthday to Elijah. I know it is cliche, but how does this happen? I have yet to figure out this whole time thing and am banking on this “theory of relativity”.
I have a very similar hanger that is a little sailor boy I found at a rummage sale in Zambia. Limber indeed.

  9. I remember the nursery in my childhood home very well. Since I’m the second oldest of six there was always a baby in the house while I was growing up. The closet was full of such treasures and I thought they were wonderful even then. I think I will go on a treasure hunt the next time I visit my parents. They never throw anything away….

  10. Happy b-day to Elijah! The years pass by way too quickly. My oldest niece is nearly 16 already and it seems like just yesterday she was a little chubby-cheeked papoose wrapped up at hospital.
BTW, I love Elijah’s bowling tshirt. Someone like Napoleon Dynamite?

  11. Hey Heather… this is my first time visiting your site and I have to say I love it. I’m just getting my own blog up and running this week so I’m looking around to see how other people do it. You make some very adorable things… something for me to aspire to.
I have a son named Elijah also. He just turned 2 on the 8th. Great minds think alike I guess.
I look forward to seeing more of your posts.

  12. Hey Heather– great site, great inspiration. My sister is having a little girl in May. I love the 2 felt booties you have pics of on flickr. Where can I go to buy 2 pair of these….please email me and let me know.
    Thanks,
    Brooke

  13. Hi Heather
I am new here! … where have I been not to find your lovely blog before?
I am not a good needlewoman but i still love fabric art by others in its many forms.
It may seem strange but I don’t think I have ever seen a clothes-hanger like the one here (or anything like it) in the UK (my birth country), or New Zealand (where I now live). Such a pretty little thing and so unusual.
I wonder if they are a North American invention? Or have I just not come across one?
Just wonderful to collect though. I will certainly keep a sharp look out for any here after seeing this one!

  14. Hello Heather,
this is the cutest hanger that I’ve ever seen! The fabrics are so wonderful and now these hangers – wow! A very good addition to your collection 😉

  15. “I’m certainly not ten years older than when I had him…” Ha, I just love that! And now that I think about it, my kids are certainly growing older faster than I am, too 😉

  16. Just want you to know I have the “brother” of your hanger. It was my stepsons when he was little in the mid-70’s. It’s now waiting for granddaughter Chloe’s dress when she comes for a visit!
