We’ve had the ongoing project of installing a door under our stairs for oh, a couple of years now, I think. I love the layout of our home, but its one weakness is its lack of storage space.
So, we decided to make our own closet — take matters into our own hands. The stairs had to be re-inforced and the doorway properly framed. And, that’s about how far we made it before abandoning the project for many months — a doorless closet facing the front door.
Well, good news, Isaac installed the door. Yay! And we picked up this fantastic glass doorknob (Anthropologie) to justify the visibility of our new junk repository — a bit o’ bling. Now I wonder how long it’ll be before we install the doorknob.
One day I’ll have funky doorknobs on every door. One day.

Obscure, I know — but, it cracks me up that Homer Simpson calls each of his vices his “one weakness.” I had to throw that in there even if it sent a number of you on a tour of confusion over to Homer Simpson’s Wikipedia page.
Your home sounds like mine…isn’t it amazing how we can leave some jobs for months before finally getting in and doing the final stages. And it always looks sooo good when it’s finally finished that I often wonder why I didn’t just finish it to start with!?? I just love those door knobs. Very funky!
Gorgeous green! And I’m the same way…jobs go unfished for months over here. Sigh.
Lovely shade of green. I am sure it won’t be too long.
it’s so great to hear that i’m not the only one who abandons projects. in my last house all the abandoned projects got done just before we put it on the market — and it looked really, really good. after that i swore i wouldn’t do that again. ha! that didn’t last very long.
This shade of green have been my color so far this year. I can’t get enough of it. I wonder if my husband would understand my motives to buy a lovely green glass door knob before we even purchase a house? Probably not. 🙂
great color! beautiful picture too!
Ahhh you’re picking all these green things just to taunt me aren’t you??
hehehe – I think we all have projects like that! Love the funky door knobs!
I love glass door knobs, and the green is great! We just started a new house project this weekend, and I’m wondering if it’ll be finished soon, like I hope, or in many many months, which is more realistic around here!
I just got the new Spring Anthropologie catalog in the mail yesterday. I spent an hour alone with it (no kids!) sipping tea this morning. Heaven.
Oohhhhh, Heather……….talk about taunting….gorgeous gem of a handle! You sure know how to do things up nicely! I picked up some fun things today from my fav. antique shop…..ahhhh, if we only had more time, right?!!! http://www.thewoodenspool.blogspot.com
I love the knobs. It’s a nice color of green. My unfinished project at the moment is handles on my kitchen cupboards. I’m putting silver plated spoons on. I need to coax my husband to drill some more spoons.
Preeety…those will look and feel great. I bet you get them installed soon!
Wow. I really, really LOVE those doorknobs!! (There’s a sentence I never thought I’d say…)
Gorgeous doorknobs in my favourite colour!
oh those are too pretty!!!
Those are gorgeous! I would love to have those in my home…. I love your eye for things, so inspiring.
O these are so original !!
Oh I love those knobs Heather!
I have a hutch/shelving piece that is so unique that that was made for me and I have been looking for door knobs for the cabinet handles for so long.
Regular knobs wouldnt fit the size of it. LOL!
Thanks for the link. :o)
those are so fab! love the green glss, and anthropologie is my fave store!
Thanks for ‘splainin the Homer Simpson reference. I was lost!
Those door knobs are absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful doorknobs…we just finished renovating our home recently and bought all new glass doorknobs, it’s one of my favourite things.
So gorgeous!
I just purchased 200 Ripple Stitches by Jan Eaton just to crochet the Smooth Waves.
I have Jane at Yarnstorm to thank for that one! But, her ripple-work-in-progress did provide incentive to dig through that stash of mine! I am primarily a knitter, but am drawn to this pattern for some reason. I think I’m going to change colors every 2 rows, as Jane did. Take a peek at her site and I bet you’ll be hooking in no time!
I enjoy reading your blog lots!
That is one gorgeous doorknob. When we bought our home and started fixing it up, my husband had the great idea of finding various doorknobs that we loved and having them all mismatched throughout the house. Of course, you have to have the time to go and find them, and in the meantime, you have to have doorknobs, so instead we now have a house full of boring but tasteful matching brushed nickel doorknobs from Home Depot. Someday . . .
Where did you get those door knobs, from Anthropologie?
Hey Heather, you need to check out these knobs for your cabinets – of course my collection is still waiting to be installed on our knobless cabinet doors 😉
