Okay, so the Trash Ties response was amazing! And a bit
overwhelming. We’ve turned our house into a full-on workshop and I’m
experiencing Christmas through the eyes of Santa’s elves. Thank you
for your orders. We’re making and packaging them up round the clock.
I’ve added a post to the Trash Ties blog to answer some questions about
shipping, security, applying discounts, extended coupons! and such. If you’ve placed an order or are about
to, you should have a read through that post. (There’s also a giveaway!)
Other than the
elvish nature of this week’s work, we haven’t yet had a chance to break
into Christmas this year. The Christmas decorations are stacked in
boxes in the middle of our living room and have been for two weeks.
This year will have to be condensed, with extra Christmas effort and
activities packed into the end of next week. We’ll make it particularly fun
so the kids don’t notice they had to wait!
Oh gatz! I’m
getting weepy. My friend’s two daughters are over to help and they’re
watching Fiddler on the Roof while they work. Sunrise, Sunset is
bellowing from the other room and I can’t get through that song without
tearing up, even if I’m in a distant room focussed on writing this
post! I’ve got to wrap it up before they get to the Chava Ballet song, the
one that starts, "Little Bird, Little Chavala." Oh forget it, I can’t
even type it out. I’ll move on. One of my favorite movies, anyhow!
The fish? I’m
looking forward to the fish. I made him for our Christmas tree about 5
years ago or so. Beyond my funky junky collection, he’s one of my
favorite ornaments. I just love the idea of a goldfish swimming around
in a pine tree. A few more days to go…

Congratulations on your trash ties being such a success. I hope you are able to breathe a bit and enjoy the Christmas season! take care
The fish is festive! And even though your own Christmas is on hold, you sound festive too! I wish you stamina and a chance to fulfill all of your holiday wishes, traditions and aspirations, and more stamina! Merry Christmas.
Super cute goldfish!!! And I am eagerly awaiting the trash ties I ordered. Hope you are all managing to get at least a little sleep between filling orders. đŸ˜‰
I am glad to hear that you are having such a good response to the trash ties!!! I am sure I will be buying more for birthday presents.
Oh I am so sorry to have added to your delay on the Christmas decorations…but I had to get me some Trash Ties! I hope you have an enjoyable and calm next week at least! I love Fiddler on the Roof too…I do have to be in the right mood to watch it….makes me want to put it on netflix just thinking about it. Gonna go read the trash ties post now…Merry Christmas!
You are so clever, love the fish, have a wonderful weekendx
I am feeling just a little guilty at your delayed Christmas fun ‘cuz I am one of the people who ordered Trash Ties. Sorry. Hope your holiday is lovely and the kids are proud of their successful mom!
cool fish and very different idea having a fish on your tree
Is there no end to your abilities? I saw that fish and immediately thought “Anthropologie”.
But, alas, it’s your creation, you amazing woman.
Your site is so amazing! Very inspirational. I’m making it a favorite!
Just put your boxes in a tree shape, wrap tinsel (or green trash ties) around them and see if the kids notice!
Good luck on your craziness! Hang in there.
That fish is fabulous and the way you display it is even more fantastic and it gives the picture a special feel.
Congrats! so many ideas I got from your site.
Wonderful to hear of your huge success with trash ties! You deserve it as one of the most highly creative and admired designers anywhere. How many countless times have I seen your site linked??? The fish is fabulous. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Super cute goldfish, il est trés joli ce poisson bravo pour ton blog !
It is really great to know that the trash ties are doing so well. If you need any help (even if it is only to make publicity) I’m very glad to help. Would you be interested in answering some question for me? I’m majoring and journalism and I have a podcast and I would like to tell the world (at least the world that understands Portuguese) about trash ties.
Sounds like a Christmas to look back on fondly.
Can’t wait to get and give these a try – my sister is gonna flip over them. Your fabrics are also a big hit for my folks too.
Congratulations & Thank you!
Hey Heather! Congrats! I’ve ordered some TrashTies for my nieces. I am sure they will love them. Thanks and continuted success!
Don’t feel bad about postponing your Christmas decorating, Heather. Remember, there are twelve days of Christmas, so you have plenty of time to enjoy celebrating after the 25th!
Hi Heather, congratulations for your new business, but I missed your posts these days… The fish is very very cute!!!
And I want to make you a question… I don’t know if this is the correct way… I live in Spain and I want to know how could I get a Trash Ties box. How much is the shipping fare? Can I have any discount?
And of course, Merry Christmas!
Heather,
your enthusiasm about everything is so wonderfully infectious, it’s a joy to visit here. YAY for your trash ties success! and for all your other accomplishments this year too.
the goldfish is beautiful, i’d love to fill a little tree with those. maybe in your “spare time” (well, have you considered cloning yourself?) you could write it up for a pre-christmas how-to article for a magazine next year. or sell your pattern here! anyway, i just love it.
a very merry christmas to you and your sweet family!
Hey, I love that fish. You should post a tutorial.
I am in love with the fish – and Fiddler on the roof is my favorite all time movie ever! Em
Trash Ties arrived and packaging makes them extra special. My girls (35 & 37) will love them. Merry Christmas!
Hi Heather, I’ve read your blog for over a year now, can’t remember how I found it. I just love it, you are so creative and so inspiring.
I live overseas now, and was so excited to know that I could still get my Trash Ties sent here! I just ordered some so I can’t wait to try them out!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

That fish is perfect!
Congrats on your latest success- Just don’t work too hard! Hope you enjoy your Christmas!
Heather, I hope you take a well-deserved break and enjoy time with your family. I enjoy reading your blog, sewing your fabrics, and soon I will be enjoying your trash ties when they arrive. Take some time of and enjoy your children and husband. May God Bless your whole family in 2008
Heather,
I got the ties and just wanted to let you know that I think they are great! I just posted a little review on my site. The girls and I are having a lot of fun with them. Thanks for a great product and fast and friendly service!
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
Oh my gosh – I know what you mean about Fiddler on the Roof. I was in a regional theatre production of that a few years ago – and I used to watch the Chava ballet from a spot high above the stage. I’d turn into a hot mess of jelly crying over that song for 3 weeks of rehearsals and 35 performances. Our Tevye was awesome!
Happy Holidays!!!
