Heaven Does Exist

Favoritethings

Gaw, isn’t this gorgeous!?!  I’m ready to pack my bags & a tarp
to go live in a lean-to right there by that fence in Who-Knows-Where,
South Carolina.  Purple azaleas, mossy-green grass, gravel road,
weathered wooden fence, misty forest…heaven.

I have this photo open on my desktop while I work and when I drift
off, I drift off down that path.  Kinda nice, really.  You should try
it.

If you live somewhere as beautiful, pray, do tell where. Sigh.

  1. Yea, but don’t forget, if it’s SC, it’s probably 112 degrees, with 99% humidity. But then again, there may be boiled peanuts and sweet tea at the end of that path, too.

  2. ah yes….God’s country! My home state! However I live in Texas and have found beauty here — I love not having snow and ice and the sweet tea thing has kinda vanished here in Texas and in alot of SC!

  3. If that is South Carolina I would love to know where. I live in Rhode Island and we are going to be down there for a wedding in June. I want to know all the best places to visit and any craft shops or markets I should visit. If anyone has any suggestions please email me at icanjumppuddles@hotmail.com

  4. that little spot is gorgeous!!!
i live in gig harbor, wa. in my opinion, it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world! a lot of little gravel pathways and fences like in your photo, lovely seaside homes, large, towering trees, and water surrounding us everywhere. the harbor is as picturesque as can be with the sailboats everywhere and Mt. Rainer towering over everything. ahh. just google it, and you’ll see.

  5. Estate Tipperary, St. Croix. I loved it there; someday I plan on going back and buying my childhood home. (Oh, and I’m not talking about the resort either; the whole island is still referred to by the original estate names; Tipperary, Strawberry, etc.)

  6. I live in Santa Cruz, CA and well I love it there. It combines 2 of my most favorite things the beach and the mountians. I love that only 20 minutes aways are these huge redwood trees and then I can go down to the beach right after.

  7. Wow. That is beautiful. And I so just want to be RIGHT there, especially seeing as it is 3 degrees out here and we had about 10 inches of snow earlier in the week. I’m ready for spring or summer or any weather warmer than right now. Thanks for warming my day!

  8. I want to be transported there right NOW 🙂 It’s 30 degrees and gray in New Jersey these days. Nothing particularly pretty to report. Talk to me in summer, when the grass is green and soft, the scent of honeysuckle lingers on the breeze, and plump red berries in the yard are ripe for the picking. Just 5 more months. Just 5 more months. My new mantra.

  9. Ah, that takes me back to my childhood! I grew up in east Tennessee and we would sometimes drive to Roan Mountain for a picnic. The whole mountain is covered in Rhododendrons! It’s stunning!
    Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  10. Beautiful picture! I’m thankful for little glimpses into how wonderul the real heaven will be.
Right now I’m in snowy Ohio; it’s beautiful also. : )

  11. New Zealand – beautiful! I was going to post photos but you’ve all seen Lord of the Rings right? I get to live in the Hobbity part 🙂

  12. That is very beautiful. I love to daydream too. There’s beauty a lot closer to home, too. You’re in Arizona, right? I was born and raised in Tucson and to me this might as well be heaven.

Tucson has the world’s most breathtaking sunsets (and lightning, interestingly enough). Those mountains really are purple majesties. I love seeing everyone’s picks for “heaven”.

  13. Oooo that is my dream!!! How did you get in my head?! Kidding, but I love the pic and wish I could live in it.
Just thought I would let you know that we did one of your crafts last night. I posted the pic’s. Thank you for the pattern, it is fantastic!!

  14. I live in North Wales. In the winter it’s pretty grey and rainy – we are surrounded by slate mountains so although it’s very dark, we see the most glorious hues and colours around us. In the Summer, that picture could be our driveway (although the right hand side of ours is lined with brilliant blue hydrangeas). I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

  15. I live in SC and it is beautiful here, although currently not as beautiful as in that picture! The flowers actually look like rhododendrons, by the way the leaves look. I like them even better than the azaleas because the flowers are bigger and they bloom longer! They grow wild in the mountain areas! I would love to be transported there and go for a stroll down that lane….and feel sunshine on me! (I hate winter, even down here!)

  16. I grew up in Charleston, SC and that picture reminds me of Magnolia Gardens:

Very beautiful… on weekends, we’d go there a lot. They have gardens with a walking path, a petting zoo, and a big playground. I’m sure they have other attractions as well, but those are the ones that stood out to me as a child.

  17. From SC here, myself…lowcountry. Karissa you’ll definitely want to spend a day or two in Charleston, then come up to Summerville for a day visiting, then head over to Beaufort…maybe up to Brookgreen gardens near Myrtle beach. Our upstate has some beautiful country too. That’s why I love SC we have it all from the mountains (well foothills) to the ocean! the best time to be here is Mar-May and Oct-Dec.

  18. Your whole blog is beautiful!!! I ordered the trash ties and cannot wait to getthem. I also love your fabrics – I wish I still sewed – I would be all over them! If you ever start designing patterened paper for card making and scrapbooking – please let me know – I will be your first customer -you would be an instant success!

  19. Darnit Heather! Thanks for the reminder that we live in the brownest, dryest place on earth! As a transplanted Oregonian I sometimes get so homesick for the beach and some tall trees that it brings me to tears.
At least it’s supposed to rain this weekend. I’ll take what I can get.

  20. That’s making me so homesick. I’m originally from SC. I miss azaleas! You should definitely vacation in Hilton Head – that place is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

  21. Jona,
Let’s pray for rain shall we?
I lived in the SF Bay and miss the fog!!!! Oh well AZ has it’s own beauty and charm, just different. I’m down for the hobbit town!

  23. That is beautiful, and I’d like to see it in person. But here in my town we have a different kind of beauty right now, and it’s one that I wouldn’t want to miss seeing. Today it is -15C, and the wind is cold, but the sun is shining on the bare trees in my yard. There’s a bit of snow on the ground, hard crunchy snow, brilliantly white in the sun. Out my kitchen window the birds are taking turns at the feeders, and two squirrels are trying to figure out the jar of frozen peanut butter that my hubby put out for them. It’s a beautiful view out that window in any season. :O)

  24. Great to see so many loving/enjoying this visual from my part of this beautiful world -South Carolina. Come see us and make yourself at home, ya’ll!

  25. A job transfer from Chicago brought us to South Carolina 8 years ago. I must say it is a lovely place to live. In the spring I swear it is incrediable… flowers everywhere Bradford pear trees, Wysteria,Dogwood trees in white and pink. Sometimes you will see a white and a pink dogwood planted close enough together that they have branches that intermingle the white and pink. It’s a sight to behold. The yellow jesimine, forysictha grows huge like shrubs. Please excuse my mis-spells some of the plant names I have really messed up on some of these.

  26. All of these fellow South Carolinian bloggers! I have a new list of blogs to visit! Everyone else, please come see us –we have mountains and beaches and wonderful sites in between. Karissa, if you get any good leads, let us know. There are wonderful antique/thrift shops here as well. Heather, thanks for connecting the neighbors. 🙂

  27. Lovely photo! I am lucky enough to live in the mountains of Virginia. We sometimes take for granted the views we see as we are driving around on mundane errands. This is a nice reminder to appreciate the beauty around us. Thanks!

  28. I linked to your website from a friends blog. I was so surprised to discover I had just purchased a bunch of your fabric to make purses and aprons. I didn’t know who you were but I fell in love with your fabric. I love your blog too.

  29. Beautiful! With it being cold in most of the country, I love living in warm and tropical south Florida. Everything is in full bloom at the moment! ~ Janet~
