I went out of town for most of two weeks and came back to a backlog
of everything. We did kick off summer with an awesome day in the rain
at Disneyland (lots of rain, but that was kind of fun — no
complaints).

At home, we’ve had puppies to train, more summer plans to secure,
patterns to complete (THAT’S RIGHT — I have four patterns written —
they’re out with pattern testers). I figured I could secure myself
some absent-blogger immunity with that news. Granted? Say yes. They
should be available before the month is over.
Then I sat down yesterday with the goal to post a preview of my two
new fabric collections, but my computer kept crashing — probably a
dozen times. I finally gave up & decided to embroider something —
on the couch — I hardly ever make my way to the couch. (Have I
mentioned how much I love to embroider? It’s like coloring in slow
motion — very soothing — great for when your computer is on the
fritz.) Now I’m set up on a different computer & back to assembling
images for that fabric preview. Just popping in for a Hello.
Hello.

Heather I love that image coloring in slow motion! Hmmmm Me thinks I need to pick up a needle and thread and see what I can crate.
Now don’t keep us in suspense any longer what did you name those cute cute puppies!?!
Hello!!
Welcome back 🙂 You know, sometimes “colouring in slow motion” on the couch is probably the best thing in the world for a busy soul! That line makes me want to take up embroidery again. I haven’t even tried since I was in my early teens and I LOVED it growing up!
Can’t wait to try the new patterns, I’m just finishing up a little quilt for my daughter with your freshcut line. I post a flickr pic when its done.
Hope things are wonderful.

Ahhhh, lots for us to look forward to there – the fabrics, the puppy names, and the patterns! Is the pear pincishion amongst them? Please say yes!!!
Your embroidery looks lovely. I cannot wait to see your fabric previews! I have been waiting in suspense since quilt market. 😉
Oh I am so glad to see you back…looking forward to all the new goodies to share!
Hello!
Your embroidery is beautiful. Can’t wait to see the new line! I can’t wait to buy it!
More and more I’m thinking it might be fun to try embroidery. Your description is making it even more appealing!
Oh do hurry! I am dying to see…
I am a poor stitcher, but your photo has inspired me! Although, I’m thinking more of your idea onto a layout for my girls. 🙂 Thanks for always sharing inspiration! :))
What a lovely on-the-whim embroidery project! Can’t wait to SEE the new fabrics, and sew lots of goodies with the new line.
I must admit I’ve been waiting rather impatiently for the preview of the new fabrics. i loved your first line so much I cannot wait to see the next, and two….wow. and patterns to boot, june is just loaded with nice surprises!!
Hello MY name is Heather also, I linked to your blog from a friend of a friend also named Heather. I am fasinated by your stuff. I will be checking back in to see what else you come up with. I love to do hand crafts but I am more of a pattern follower than a pattern maker. What a talent you have.

I have been dying waiting for the sneak previews. I keep scouring everywhere trying to see it. I was so excited to see a post today of your delightful embroidery and am eagerly awaiting the fabric pix!!!
I’m really looking forward to the preview!
Just Soooooo Hanging out here…
Will the puppies lead to a line of Freshcut doggie coats, I wonder? Hee hee =)
I’ve been checking your blog several times a day for WEEKS in hopes of seeing your new fabric lines. Hmmm. Looks like I’ll still be waiting. Damn puppies, summer plans and pattern writing. 😉
Like many of my fellow commenters, the suspense is killing me. I expect I’ll love the new lines just as much as Freshcut so it will be impossible to hold a grudge! But I’m holding out on forgiveness until the preview goes live! 😉
Welcome back! You’ve been missed.
As just about everyone before me has said, the idea of “coloring in slow motion” sounds SO wonderful. I never really thought of embroidery in quite that way. Beautifully put!
Puppy names are on the mind. Did you decide on “weiner” & “schnitzel”? LOL! Please…tell us.
And finally…I CAN’T WAIT to get my hands on your patterns. I have NO DOUBT that they will be FABULOUS!!! Ask those testers to HURRY, HURRY! 🙂
Is that a pattern you are following for this embroidery?? I LOVE IT!! If so, where can I find it to buy?!?!? Thanks!
I can’t wait to get my hands on some new fabrics, excited to start some summer projects. I am teaching myself to embroider right now.
YAY! Jumping up and down, hands clapping! I’ve been hoping for patterns soon 🙂 Please say one of them is the purse….
I love the flower you embroidered. I’ve been wanting to start embroidering. I’ve seen it all over the blogsphere lately and I’m thinking I need to try my hand at it too!
Love your flower! I can’t wait to see the fabric and patterns!
Patterns…? YEs please can’t wait!
The embroidery is lovely and I’m looking forward to the new patterns :0).
Excited for your new fabric!
Hey you! I looooove your fabric line! I remember when you were just getting started. I love the puppies….I had a Mini Schnauzer growing up. Her name was Molly Malone! Anyway, I had the baby, were doing great. We need to get together in the near future. Take care and I’ve added this site to my fav things on my blog.

I’m so excited to see the new fabrics! My, what a lovely flower you’ve embroidered there.
oh and new patterns! Yeah!
Another fantastic skill to have – embroidery.
Do you ever embellish any of your finished sewing pieces with little “doodles” of thread?
Happy day to have you return!!! I love your embroidery. I wonder if it is your own design? How absolutely thrilling to hear about the upcoming post on your fabric previews!!! Wonderful news too about your 4 patterns in the works.

I love to handsew, you can dream and dream and dream. Would have loved to come and say Hi to you at market but was too shy, next time perhaps! The puppies look so cute have fun with them.
Coloring in slow motion…what a cool way to think of embroidering.
Your puppies are oh so terribly cute! And I use to embroider; loved it. Have you tried crazy quilting? Where you embroider over the seams with plain and metallic embroidery threads. I use to make a little cobweb toward the top with a “spider” made of beads connected to the web with metallic thread. It was so much fun! I have them. If you haven’t seen one, let me know and I’ll take a pic and send it over!

Sorry to hear about the computer crashes–no fun there. I love your little flower. Are you using a stem stitch or a backstitch? I think the stem stitch is traditional for redwork, but I’m seeing work in backstitch too. It makes a very clean line–let me know what you use if you get a chance.
I have always wanted to learn how to embroider. I have seen some classes on silk embroidery and I must learn that next. I need a project I can take with me on my adventures this summer with the kids.
Wow, beautiful stuff!
I love to embroider too. Now I’m itching to work on some. This looks like it’ll be gorgeous. I’m loving the flower.

I’ve been dying to see your new fabrics forever!!! Please post soon – totally excited and anxious!

Am hanging out to see your new fabrics… and your patterns….I am desperately hoping that one of them might be your Pears??? and that I will be able to get hold of them here in Australia
I love your style! I wish I had your talent for design. I guess I will just have to buy your fabric and try my best 🙂
Is that your embroidery pattern too! My MIL would love that on some tea towels!
Jessi
lovely embroidery! I just inherited a few embroidered doilies from my great aunt. It’s a shame people don’t appreciate hand arts the way they used to.
Hi Heather — I know this is an older post, but I just found your blog and have been making my way through.
I just had to say that I actually live down the street from Disneyland and the BEST time to go is in the rain. It makes for smaller crowds, fewer lines, and a cool atmosphere all around (plus, you get to buy new umbrellas ;P).
I hope you guys enjoyed it!!
