And I’ve re-designed my blog — it’s a blogiversary tradition. But,
this time I had some serious fun & added all sorts of bells &
whistles. So, re-fresh your page or clear your cache if needed.
Here’s hoping everything is in working order.
I’m feeling thankful this week — just so grateful for the goodness
that exists in the world. My last attempt at a post (it was never
posted) sounded something like the Gettysburg Address. I can’t decide
if it’s powerful & poetic or just plain sappy, so it’ll have to
wait. And, seeing as my blog has now turned two and I’m feeling gushy
& grateful — well, I’m thinking a giveaway will suit the occasion. Three giveaways! What do you think?
This time I won’t ask you to suffer through your embarrassing
stories or tell me a dumb joke (though you really should go have a read
through those horrifying stories & stupid jokes if you haven’t already). Leave a
comment & I’ll ask the random number generator for help in choosing. I wish I
could do a thousand giveaways. Wouldn’t that be cool? Perhaps one day.
Each box will be a mish-mash of hoo-hahs & what-nots (good
ones), whatever I’m feeling like when I pack them up, but I’ll be sure
to include your favorite color of Trash Ties, a new pincushion &
some Freshcut. I’ll even include a precious couple of bits &
scraps from my own samples of Pop Garden & Bijoux (I only have a
small piece of each fabric until the first print run hits the states on
big barges next month).
Thank you for hanging around & for going out of your way to send
kind notes, leave thoughtful comments, & name my dogs. Thank you
for your friendship. I wish you all lived on my street & we met up
for play dates at the park or lunch on the town twice a week — or we
could hang upside down from trees together & knit. I’ve always
wanted to try that. (Perhaps I should I explain that one, huh? — I
had a dream once that I was hanging upside down with my legs hooked
over a tree limb & knitting — some half-awake amalgamation of
childhood jungle-gym memories & a my love to make stuff. It was a
pleasant dream. Would be so much nicer with friends though ; )
So, I guess this post is now a fabric-release-, new-blog-look-, mushy-giveaway- extravaganza.
This will be an exciting next month. Lots of big debuts in June/July!

Wow! I think I must have come across this just as it was loading. It was like a dream of fabric fusion right before my eyes! WOW!! Did I already say WOW? It’s just like Christmas morning! I’ve been waiting so long, and now I can’t wait to “open” the presents (drool over all the pretty new designs). Lots of working overtime in my immediate future to get some of these luscious fabrics. They’re gorgeous.

I love your fabrics, and the Trash Ties, but the scrapbooking supplies are my favorite! I do have once question — the Trash Ties slide out of my daughter’s fine, but long, hair — do you have any tips or tricks? I have the short ones, maybe I should’ve tried the long one and twist it into a bun…

Hi there — Heather here — with hundreds of comments in this post, I figured I better reply right here — The standard Trash Ties should work great on your daughter’s fine hair! Make sure you opt to wrap them instead of twisting them in place. And wrap them 2 or 3 times around each small section of fine hair that you’re securing, so they’ll look more petite in her hair — & they’ll hold even more tightly! When I do my daughter’s fine hair, each Tie is usually wrapped at least twice — tightly. It’s comes down to cinching them well in place. Let me know how it goes, I expect you’ll be a pro in no time. Hi there, I have just started my own blog/group after reading and enjoying yours for the last year…… my aim is to create a monthly swap here in Perth, Australia between me and my crafty friends. Each month we will choose a theme (this month- our first- the theme is ‘birds’) and we can make whatever we choose. I can’t wait to have a ‘let’s use Heather Bailey’s new line of fabric’ month. Unfortunately it will take AGES to get to the shops here…..thank god for the internet. Whatever did we in the Antipodes do before the net came along??

HOLY MOLY MACARONI AND CHEESE!!! Your new line is absolutely, unbelievably exciting. I felt like shrieking with excitement (but couldn’t cuz my kids are asleep and it’s 1 in the morning) when I saw that slideshow. I seriously have butterflies in my stomach, no joke. When I grow up (har har…I think I’m older than you) I want to be just like you. I’m in love with the paisley design and some of the florals. Actually, I’m in love with the whole luscious lot. I’m so happy for you, and so excited to get my hands on some of that fabric when it becomes available. I don’t know how on earth you find the time to do all the incredible things you do…but keep up the great work!

I love your new fabrics!!! I just made my very first quilt, it’s for my baby due in September and fell in love with the process. I found it very peaceful to release my ideas and piece them all together to create a beautiful end product. love the new redo of the blog and site, very colorful and I love the new fabrics too! I can only remember one joke that my kids told me long ago which is” what do you call a deer with no eyes?” No idea!!!

I have only recently been introduced to this whole new world of internet fabric, sewing, and inspiration. It rekindled my interest and trickled down to my 16 year old daughter! Oh, Heather, it’s all beautiful and fresh!! And so you! I just sent my full size Freshcut quilt top off to be quilted, I’ll email you a photo of it after I bind it. Seriously, I worked on that quilt top while waiting to find out if I had cancer. I had a biopsy, then surgery and found out I did not have cancer (yay!), so thanks for being a part of that journey. I love the new line of fabrics. I just finished a quilt with the other line of your fabrics. Well technically not finished as the back is still in need of piecing but almost! Holy cannoli! That fabric looks great. I picked up an elaborate picture frame at an antique shop earlier this year, sanded it and painted it a Tiffany blue. It looks good, but it would look fantastic with your fabric behind it, wrapped around a cork board. What a great bulletin board that would make!

I cannot stand it, my daughter and I gushed over those fabrics forever today. She is 12 and is taking a Summer sewing camp at Fabrika, a darling little sewing stroe here in the historic downtown area. It will be a Project Runway type deal where they design their own patterns. Oh by the way, I do have an ice cream maker and have made lots of vanilla ice cream (keeping it simple). It’s been a while since I cracked it out. Now, looking at those delicious looking photos is making me want to dust it off and start experimenting…with strawberries and pretzels. Sounds a bit weird, but I’ve been tempted! 😉

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your new blog design. I usually read from a feeder but am so glad I visited your site to enjoy this dose of color. I’m crossing my fingers the generator will pick me…I’ve been wanting to try a trash tie for ages to see if it works with my wacky hair and I’d do nearly illegal things for your amazing patterns.
As a total newbie to quilting, but an old hand at sewing spinning and knitting, I am very pleased to have found your site. Such colour! And so vibrant. It feels summery even on a winters day, such as we are having here in Oz 🙂

Wow! I love the new collection… and I thought nothing could compare to Freshcut! Well, nothing does cuz the new line is completely different and amazingly beautiful all on its own…so vibrant and full of life and I just love ’em. I could picture lots of projects…I just really need to learn how to use my sewing machine, so far I’ve gotten by with no sewing and/or doing everything by hand 🙂 Again, congratulations!!! Keep them coming!
