So, it was late. Too late for shopping. Too late for humans to be
awake, really. And though I have a broad assortment of felts, I just
couldn’t find ones that worked well as stems on my latest pincushions.
So look what I discovered in my bleary-eyed desperation — 1.5" wide
velvet ribbon works too.
I’ve been hoarding this emerald green piece for a few years now. I had meant to use it in my hair for a Scarlet O’Hara moment,
but I don’t have the wardrobe for that kind of sass. It also reminds
me of the hat Rhett bought for her — the one she puts on upside-down.
Anyhow.
Prepping for Market
again. We’re just about ready to launch our wholesale program. Should
be this week. This means you’ll soon be able to find my patterns and
other upcoming whatnots at your local stores – yay! We’ll be at the
Westminster/Free Spirit booth throughout Market, so tell your local
store-owners to come find us there and we’ll get them all set up. If
you’re a retailer who has emailed us about pattern-purchasing, expect
an email within the week with details on how to place an order. We’ve
had to construct policies, protocols and a website, set up emails, get
all of the appropriate record-keeping systems in place, etc, etc.
We’re just about there. If you have any questions about wholesale,
email info@HeatherBaileyWholesale.com.
Okay, so while we were in Cottonwood,
I picked up a new pair of scissors. They’re Hon brand and they’re
pretty great. Even the very tippy-tip of the scissors cuts well.
They’re not as pretty as Ginghers, but I’m thinkin I like them too. Anyone familiar with this brand?

Loved the velvet ribbon thing!
Kisses from Brazil!
The pears look fab! Scissors as nice as Ginghers? Hmmm, interesting. They look light-weight too.
I absolutely love them!
Wonderful ! Many compliments !
Absolutely love the green velvet ribbon. I’m a green girl and you’re pears are delicious. As for the scissor brand…not familiar. I’m left-handed and have quite a difficult time finding TRUE left-handed scissors. I have ginghers.
Love the velvet ribbon. The pears are awesome as always. Not sure about the scissor brand. I have ginghers and the new style is a must have.
Hello Heather,
These pears are fantastic!
~ Gabriela ~
yup – I got a pair from my friend (not!) Martha when I went to her show last spring. I LOVE them – covet them more than my ginghers – they are more lightweight and keep that edge.
I really need to buy this pattern. I’m madly in love with these pincushions.
I love the idea of velvet, almost to cute to poke pins into!
What a great solution! They look great! Best wishes for finishing all of your Market prep!
the green velvet in your hair wow what a great pear!! He He, yes I need my coffee I know. Looking forward to seeing all of your new creations.
Have fun finishing up all of your market prep!
Nice tip about using ribbon for the stems. This is a lovely photo and your pears (and strawberries) are always shaped perfectly. Mine haven’t turned out quite so perfectly yet.
I imagine practice makes perfect, but I wonder if you have any suggestions on how to give the pears such perfect contours?
Ribbon! Good idea. I’ve been looking for a small project that I could make a lot of for Christmas presents. Seeing all of your wonderful juicy pear pincushions gave me inspiration. Who doesn’t need a cute pincushion?
These are *so* adorable. I just love them.
you? Lacking sass? I don’t know…
The ribbon looks great on the pears, too though.
Anna
I have Wolff scissors. They are awesome and i even like them better than ginghers.
I simply love your blog. your colors and fabrics are deliciously designed …I really have tried to find your fabrics in stores, but have had no luck…
The pears are so cute! I love my Ginghers so much that I rarely use them…I know. It’s ridiculous. I have this odd feeling that if I use them, they’ll get ruined like all the other crummy pairs of scissors I use on fabric. Really, it’s a sickness.
That velvet ribbon is perfect for the pears, you couldn’t have planned something better!
Good luck at market Heather–I can’t wait to see pictures of your beautifully eye-popping booth. Love the pears too 🙂 Hugs, Eva
Congrats and the best of luck to your wholesale program!
The ribbon looks very Scarletty indeed
and the pears simply lovely 🙂
Gone With The Wind is my favorite movie!
I can’t wait to see your patterns….
Andrea
I also am looking forward to seeing photos of your colourful booth! The pears are more than pretty enough to eat, they’re brilliant!

Couldn’t you do that to your scissors yourself? Fabric, Mod podge, poly, done??
I haven’t tried Hon scissors, but I would love to have a new pair, so maybe I will have to try those out. Thanks for the tip!
I’m sad you had to release your Scarlett moment, I know you have enough sass to pull off ANY look, you’re iconically stylish Heather!!!
xo~Amelia
these pairs are totally gorgeous
The pears are simply adorable!
Your pears look delicious.
how adorable! Can’t wait to get those patterns..they’re beautiful!
Very cute little pears!
Those pears look great. I can’t wait to see everything at market. I hope I will be able to come by and say hi.
I have those very scissors and like them very much. 😉
Those pincushions are GORGEOUS! I inherited my grandma’s ribbon collection (she’s not gone yet; I’m one of those lucky girls who gets to inherit craft stuff while still enjoying my grandma’s company – and showing her the results of such inheritance) and she has tons of velvet ribbon…Are these patterns available yet? These would make nice Christmas gifts for craftee friends and family!
You make me proud to be a Heather – lol!
Love, HB (hopefully these initials will give me good kraft karma!)

Does anyone know where I can find this pattern??
love the pears…always looking for lovely little fun thing to make. i’m a scissors freak. i have several pairs of Hons. all have really nice cushiony/rubbery handles. my hands never go “numb” if cutting fabric for a long time.
