Isaac & Charlotte flew out to St. Louis to visit Laura
& crew. He put up crown molding in her family room, photographed
some paintings, took some portraits. I don’t know the whole list, but
they did fit in a quick jaunt to the zoo one of those days. The St. Louis Zoo
has a freaky, bald chimp. I’ve never heard of such a thing. Isaac
didn’t get a picture of her though; the chimp was in the middle of
some extra-gross behavior I hear. Check her out here instead. So interesting. Her name is Cinder. She looks alarmingly mannish.

I’m sure Charlotte had plenty of fun while the grown-ups worked. Kids
are resourceful that way. Here’s a shot to prove my theory. Bubble
wrap.
Elijah and I stayed put because of school. However, once the weekend hit, Elijah and I headed out to a local resort (but not till we went out for dinner, had ice cream and made our first trip to the new Lego store).
The entire next day was spent at the resort’s water park: lazy river,
waterslides, wave pool, lounge chairs, cabana-boys-refilling-sodas,
lots of sunblock, sketchbook, lap-swimming (just a little). We had our
own fun.
Check out this insane waterslide. There’s no pool of water at the end, just a long trough of water for you to skid across. Completely insane.
Great weekend. Time to do it again.

That ape in the first picture looks almost cuddly! Very Tarzanish. Sounds like a great weekend.
When I saw that gorilla, I knew it had to be St. Louis, my hometown. Scary waterslide!!!!
Last week I saw a girl with the cutest hairstyle walking through the airport. I was wondering how was holding it all together so I stealthily (I hope!) got up and walked behind her and I noticed she was wearing Trash Ties!
The second I saw that gorilla I knew these were St. Louis pics. So much to do here! Always good to get in that Zoo visit..especially since we do have one of the only free Zoos!
sounds like a perfect weekend for everyone no matter where they were. 🙂
if you read the article that you linked to about the chimp, you will see that cinder is actually a girl. hmmm..
Sounds like a good time to me… goofy chimp and all!
Ahhh… I used to live across the street from that waterslide and always vowed for a stay at the resort and a day at the lazy river. I never did it, but maybe my family will have to head down for a trip! Memories….
You’re right, she’s a girl! I changed all my ‘he’s to ‘she’s. Thanks — and interesting article, huh?

That monkey is so interesting! Reading her story made her seem cuter.
That waterslide makes my stomach turn. Did you go down it? I don’t think I could do it even if I was double dog dared. I think Joey took the kids to that same place when I was out of town once.
Bubble wrap is the best entertainment for kids. Mine love it.In fact have been known on occassion to give a sheet of bubble wrap as a reward. Glad you all had a nice time away.
I love the pictures! 🙂
The bald monkey is so cute…
And I so wish we had a water park here in town because it is so freaking hot these last days.
Kisses from Brazil!
looks like allot of fun! My boys were happy to go to the new Lego store which is 10 min from our house now, before we had to go past Boston to Burlington to get to the store which was about an hour away.
My boys always love jumping on bubble wrap and since I get many samples of my stuff with it, its a big feast around here.
I keep hoping for word of the puppies. How are they doing? how are you all doing?? 🙂
What wonderful photos of your family!
What wonderful photos of your family!
Being from the St. Louis area, we LOVE cinder! And I love the picture of them and Phil, the Gorilla, my mom remembers him at that zoo when she was little. For thost who have never been the zoo is one of the BEST ever. The buildings are from the Worlds Fair 1904…..awesome place and we are taking our little one there this weekend and to the Butterfly House. Great pictures and looks like a great time too! We will think of your crew this weekend when we are there!
Warmly,
Leslie G.
Sounds like a fantastic way to spend your weekend… a little one-on-one time with your little guy must have been great too, it’s fun to do that. Glad you got some R&R and sunshine… I envy the sunshine! :o)

That ape is so strange looking! Have you been to Grants Farm in St. Louis? There is a parrot that has plucked out all of its feathers on its chest. It looks like a raw chicken with colorful feathers!

Man, I live in the wrong part of the world… sigh
That Is insane! I love the pictures. Do you take your good camera to outings at the pool?
love the STL zoo. We go several times a year. The water slide looks like F-U-N!!!
Wow! That is an amazing story about Cinder the “hairless chimp”. My family also loves going up to the resort and floating on the Lazy River.
LOL! OK, you just had me reading for the last half hour (that I should have been folding laundry) about Cinder the hairless chimp. What an interesting story! I even teared up a little when I read of her mothers death…Silly girl, I better go get some housework done!
I love all of your pictures you have a great blog best wishes.
I can’t believe how much your kids have grown! They look so big and they are just darling.

Next time you go to St. Louis, check out the City Museum if you haven’t yet. http://www.citymuseum.org/phototour.html
So fun, and full of inspirational creativity. The mosaics are amazing.
