Three Parties and a Pop-In

So, I'm logging into Typepad to post a hello just now, before heading out
to my brother's surprise birthday party (with my sister's birthday party last night & Easter
tomorrow, this weekend is just plain crazy), and look what greets me:

Gulp — goodness.

So, hello!

Last night my sisters-in-law, mom, & I
whipped up a surprise party for Julia. Julia is just stubborn enough to
not happily go-with-the-flow, especially on her birthday.  She fought
the fake plan each step of the way, but never caught on.  Miracle!
There was even a mild tug-of-war over the newspaper movie-listings. Her
body language growled, "It's my birthday and I want to see
something else."

We had dinner at a great Italian restaurant (she
didn't know her friends would be there), then after presents and fake
goodbyes, we all met back up at my studio for an All-Night Craft-Bash
(big "Surprise!" there). We feasted like a swarm of piranhas on a buffet
of fabric, beads, yarn, felt, and more.  It was awesome.  And here,
Julia thought no one gave a hoot that she was facing the big 4-0.  We've
got your back, Juju.

Now for the next surprise party, Rock Band
for Rybee. Ryan's turning 33. I've got 30 minutes to get there. Should I
shred up a tee shirt, get out the black eyeliner, and rat my hair out
like crazy?  I think so.

  1. What a wonderful spotlight! Congrats! I’m in love with your blog…everything about it. You are a true inspiration. And I can’t wait to treat myself to some of those trash ties…too cool.
The All-Night Crash-Bash sounds soo fun. Good for you gals!

  2. did you know this has been showing up on Typepad for quite some time? I’ve been seeing you on there for a few weeks 🙂 Fun stuff

  3. I hadn’t seen the new Typepad feature till now. My computer always skips my past their home page, right into my account. They’ve had my blog up on their home page in one form or another for a few years, but this one was pretty flashy.
And thanks for the Quilt Home tip. I haven’t seen that one. I’ll go pick up a copy for my mythical Press Page (which is currently still several boxes of magazines and books that need be photographed).
Yes, keep telling me where to look for these things. I certainly don’t catch them all. You guys are awesome.
(And for Jamie – Ha! Who knows. Once I try the 80s rocker look, I may never look back.)

  4. Hi Heather! Wow does everything sound so much fun. I would love an all-night craft birthday party. Your blog is very inspirational and your designs are phenominal. Whenever I visit a fabric store I look for your line, and if it’s not there, it has to at least have the same colors! You’ve even inspired me enough to start dreaming up my own fabric designs. I mean this from deep within me….thank you so very much for your inspiration! I can’t tell you how much you have influenced my sewing/artistic endevours – and yet we have never met! Isn’t life wonderous? Many blessings Heather!
Truly and most sincerely, a fellow fabric/color lover!!

sounds like a pretty epic weekend.

  6. G’day from Australia Heather. I’m sure you’d like to know that I was just at my local craft shop (Spotlight) and there was YOUR scrapbooking products. I was soooo happy I actally said out loud “oh look it’s Heather Bailey”… embarassingly I was on my own! I got a pack of patterned papers and some alphabets, love them to bits.

  7. I love all your fabrics!! I tried emailing for information on the dress that is shown in the Nicey Jane pictures, the collared dress. Are you going to develop this pattern or can you please provide that pattern that was used for that dress.

  8. I rarely comment on blogs but I really like yours. Its hard to find good bloggers these days … everyone seems to be doing it for the $$.

  9. Congrats on the publicity on Typepad’s site! That’s how I stumbled across your blog and website for Trash Ties. Looking forward to keeping up with your blog and being inspired by you. I LOVE the bright, cheerful colors on your site and banner.
